This place is amazing! It’s incredibly clean, cheap, and all the food was hot! A co-​worker brought me here for a work lunch and I’ve already been back. Definitely recommend.

Food wasn’t that great, a lot of it was cold.

i been here one time and it is the last time i go to that restaurant. when im taking the food the i notice that the waitress was lookig at me like im eat ting that too much. im like WTH. im not comfort. *- — - -

I’m a food snob and I have been coming here for years! It’s the best Chinese buffet I’ve ever been to. Yes it’s cheap Chinese but it’s clean and good and at an extremely good price. All you can eat for $ 5.99, you can even stuff a to go box full for the same price, as long as you can close the lid! The crab rangoons are delicious and have more crab inside than any gourmet Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to (yes it’s imitation crab).

I wanted to give OGW Buffet an average 3 star rating because the chicken IS chicken (a plus for Chinese food) and the price is very right, but so many of the buffet items were less than warm and the desserts were underwhelming (though there were plenty of options, most were chalky (pudding) or flavorless (mini brownies)).
The only remarkable dish was the honey chicken which was truly excellent! Their dumplings are good, but not stand out. They have three bars of entrée and appetizer dishes, two dessert bars, a small sushi bar (looked slightly untrustworthy), and a hibachi made-​to-​order station that no one was utilizing on my visit, I think because it’s difficult to know if it’s including in the standard price or not.
The restaurant is in nice shape and very clean, the staff is quiet and keep to the basics while up keeping the stock. I can’t excuse cold Lo Mein (my bench mark for good/​bad Chinese food) but if I ever find myself stuck at Discount Tire waiting for my car to be worked on, I’ll give OGW another shot.

Had heard that this was the best of the Chinese buffets in the area but was sadly disappointed. Service was fine. Restaurant is a little shabby but clean. Buffet was kept full. However, the food quality and selection was really poor. Nothing had much of a flavor even the hot and sour soup. Some dishes just sat there getting gluey. There were little to no veggie options (lo mein and some cabbage) and way too much Krab. The food was disappointing. I might go again If friends really wanted to but I would never select to go back here.

Total dive with an American-​Chinese buffet. The teriyaki chicken skewers taste like Asian BBQ pork. I’m a fan.

I would definitely go back to this place. Food is cheap and chinese food is almost authentic. The mongolian grill (teriyaki sauce), despite the limited number of ingredients taste better than QD mongolian grill in east lansing. Very nice for some random dinner/​lunch where you ran out of food in the dorm/​apartment. May even order to go (You will fill your styro with whatever food that can fit!). Don’t let the small venue fool you. This is better than the bigger buffet place at the other side.

Been going here with the fam for almost 4 years now. If I have to choose a buffet in Lansing, this is the one for me. Thought it was our little secret until I saw my sister, ex-​neighbor, and old co-​workers there 3 trips in a row. Recommend going here first then making the drive to Celebrations to see a movie on a quiet afternoon.
Doug (see aug 2009) was right on point — the fake crab here is the best. They clean their shrimp, sure a couple get by, but I’ve been to other buffets where all you see are little black lines — eeewww, so I’m satisfied. They’ve got the Mongolian grill thing going on and their really good at it. You can actually find a won ton in the soup instead of looking at a vat of broth. Crab legs are served at dinner if that’s your thing. They keep the food coming so you’re not scratching the bottom of the pan for the last crumb.
The salad bar isn’t the greatest, but they try. Drinks are NOT included, but hey, water is better for you anyway, especially if you have $ 7 worth of bottle returns. (not knocking you Doug, we all have those moments).
My fav items include:
crab Rangoon, won ton soup, orange chicken (they recently added this one), grilled chicken, General Tso’s Chicken, Butter Shrimp (this is the dish with the im-​crab), green beans, garlic shrimp, veggie lo mien, the papas and heck, I think that’s enough, I’m full already
The kids always go nuts for the sweet n sour chicken, sugar fried donuts, icecream, fried shrimp & fried rice. Sometimes there’s pizza & fried chicken. On that note I have one warning… sometimes the peppers get mixed in with the catchup, so help the kids out.
Service isn’t always the friendliest, but I give them a round of applause for having a Tri-​Lingual staff, (English, Spanish & Mandarin — I think). Give it a try, I promise you’ll have little next to no regrets.

I noticed that there wasn’t a review of this particular Chinese Buffet so I wanted to do one in hopes that other Unilocalers would try this place out for size.
Great atmosphere, it really looks like a chinese buffet, from the airbrushed dragon table tops to the red carpet. I’m sort of a Chinese Buffet connoisseur, I really like them, so with that I guess I’m hard to please/​not hard to please as long as there is imitation crab. The dinner is a little more than the lunch buffet, with little difference betwixt the two. The Dinner is, I believe, around 7 – 8 dollars while the lunch is 5 – 6 (as of Aug. 09) I also believe hot tea and soda are included with the meal, but I might be mistaken. There’s actually another Chinese Buffet next door on Saginaw Hwy, I think called World Buffet that is a little pricier, but they are always more crowded, which is bad if you like to eat at chinese buffets the way I do, without judgment of your gluttonous rampage.
Brass Tax:
1 Salad bar, which is meh.
2 Dinner bars which have the staple chinese/​american food assortment (with imitation crab dishes that are to die for, that is, if you like fake crab)
1 sushi/​desert bar which has really tasty desert items including a wonderful soapy lemon iced cake and ice-​cream
1 cold bar with fruit, puddins, and shrimp.
All-​in-​all, if you’re someone who likes to eat imitation crab, Kroger grade sushi, Bigelow brand tea and soapy lemon iced cake in bulk this is the place for you! Join me there, anytime after I take my cans and bottles back to Meijer for the deposit and help me in my quest to achieve gastric bypass surgery.
