As a wedding photographer, I go to quite a few receptions. I’ve been to Cheers five times, three as a photographer and twice as a guest. I’ve never been disappointed any of those times. The food is always SOGOOD — the staff is always SOFRIENDLY. Babbs really knows what’s she’s doing. She’s straightforward but gets the job done that’s for sure! It’s always clean here too — a big plus for me. If I had to do my wedding over, Cheers would definitely be in the running as my banquet hall of choice.

You drive down the country road. You pass corn fields to the left and to the right… keep driving… you pass what looks to be a possible abandoned jail to your left… then some more corn fields… banquet hall… cornfields. Oh shit, we just passed up the banquet hall! Yes, it was in the middle of almost nowhere, but that made no difference. It was a new building, with beautiful marble floors that was softly glowing from unique use of overhead lighting. Everything was clean and polished, the staff was super-friendly, and it made for a nice spot to go to a wedding at. And they made the most amazing stuffed chicken dish I have ever eaten.

This is the place that hosted our wedding ceremony and reception. Everything needed to be just right. Well guess what? Everything was just right. Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t change a thing. From the planning all the way to the end of the reception, everything was fantastic. First off, the prices are very affordable. They have three different charges: the room rental fee, the per person dinner fee, and the bar tab(if you so choose to have an open bar, as many other packages are available) The cool thing about the open bar is that they charge you only for the bottles of booze that they opened and all leftover open bottles you get to take home with you. In late Spring, the owner had a big open house/food tasting where she invited everyone who was having a banquet with them over the summer. They cooked up about 30 of their dishes and let us sample all of them. This was very helpful in planning our menu. When the big day arrived, everything went flawlessly. The owner and the staff helped us out in every way they could. The room was set up beautifully, everyone working was very pleasant, and the food was great! We only encountered one major annoyance here. We had to provide the plates and cutlery for the wedding cake. WTF??? We ended up getting some better quality disposables and it was not that big of a deal. When we asked the owner why they didn’t provide them, all she could say was«We just don’t provide them!» We found the rather odd and annoying but we dealt with it. Overall, the service, quality, and value was well worth it. We would easily recommend this place to others and we will strongly consider using them again for any future banquet needs in La Porte, IN.
