Currently laying in bed dying. My girlfriend and I decided to get breakfast on the way back from camping. I had heard good things and tried their lunch menu once before– it was okay then. Today I ordered the steak medium and eggs over easy. The steak was extremely rare in the middle. When I told the waitress she just apologized and didn’t offer to comp. The steak was also very fatty. We will not be back.

Ate at Vern’s again this morning! We go grab an excellent, big, fresh breakfast(with yummy, spicy Bloody Mary’s!) at least one Sunday a month and we head over for lunch on the deck or a home style dinner fairly often too. The renovation that Nick and Val did a few years ago really improved the atmosphere and comfort and the menu has expanded to have choices for everyone!

Amazing food! The service was wonderful! They checked on us every 5−10mins and made sure we always had what we needed. The Cinnamon rolls are simply the best! Such a great price too! Price to food ratio is outstanding! Highly recommend and will be returning soon!

Vern’s has been one of my favorite breakfast spots for many years. Today’s visit did not disappoint. Their cinnamon rolls remain as delicious as always, and their portions are as hearty as ever. If you’re a fan of crispy hash browns, this is the place to get them! Service is attentive and prompt. I’ve never had a less-than-stellar experience here.

Vern’s has always been a family tradition to stop at on our way up the Poudre River. It never disappoints. Their Cinnamon Rolls are to die for. My family usually gets about six and by the time we get up to where we are going we have at least eaten two. The caramel and pecan rolls are good as well. I can’t wait for my next visit to Vern’s.

I’ve been here plenty of times and with Vern’s you never know what you are going to get. Both service and food can be great or horrible. Lately they seem to be suffering from their own success. In the weekends it can get pretty crowded and that is when the service gets really bad. Just know that going in and bring plenty of patients and you should be fine.

Stopped in here recently on our way through town. Have not eaten here in ages so was curious how it would be. Service was a little slow as they were very busy and seemed understaffed to us. Ordered the burrito plate and it was very tasty and so large could not eat it all. Green chile was homemade and pretty tasty. Overall food was good with large portions, only downfall was service was too slow in general. Prices were a little on the high side for some items also.

I love diner fair — big fan. Classic American dishes, nothing fancy, stick to your ribs, fill your belly, food. Vern’s just didn’t deliver that for me. I came for brunch on a Sunday and surprisingly didn’t have to wait to be seating. I ordered the chorizo and eggs. The eggs(over easy) weren’t cooked enough, so the whites were still see-through. The chorizo was maybe cooked directly in the dish I received it in, because there was so much grease pooled in the plate. It was served with pie wedges of crispy tortilla(not sure what I was supposed to do with those — I ate my friends English muffin instead). To make the dish worse they top the whole thing with tons of melted cheddar cheese which just contributed to even more grease. I would have complained, but we never saw our waitress after she took our order! She didn’t even bring us our meals. So not until my friend finished his, did she come back with our check in her hand. Yikes! I won’t be returning.

We grabbed a cinnamon roll to go. …fabulous! We had a surprisingly yummy lunch. All fresh. Little slow coming out. Great waitress.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!!! I really hate to complain because I have worked in the service industry for over 7 years, but this was just over the top and I am actually taking time out of my day to write this review. We showed up on a Sunday, so immediately we knew we would be waiting for a while. We decided to take an inside table because we had already been waiting 45 min and our stomachs couldn’t handle another minute. The server was great at first; she took our drink order and brought them in a timely manner and then we ordered. We all ordered something breakfast-ish like eggs or a breakfast burrito so we did not think it would take almost an hour for them to have our food ready. 45 min go by from when we ordered and still nothing, the waitress didn’t even come over to say«hey the wait is going to be a little bit since we are super busy» so we assumed maybe she forgot to place it(it happens we’ve all been there). But no about 10 – 15 min later here comes our food, which was no longer hot it was maybe lukewarm and my boyfriend ordered a skillet which is supposed to be HOT! We scarf down our meal before she even came back to say how is it but she was very quick to bring the bill to the table. I did not even see a manager to talk to so here I am writing a review. I would not waste my time waiting here again if I wanted to wait for a good breakfast you can go to snooze.

On the way up to Bellevue we stopped by Vern’s Grocery, Liquor, Tackle Shop, Restaurant, and Gifts. We didn’t eat here but had a drink before heading up the mountain. We sat on a shaded patio in a nice setting. A bee or two bothered us, but we were in an outdoor rural area and expected as much. People seemed to enjoy their large portions of delicious looking food. There was a bus stop in back for people going rafting. It was relaxing, the servers were friendly, and it made for a nice memory from our trip to Colorado.

Awesome hole in the wall. The biggest cinnamon roll I’ve ever seen! This is a café but also a tackle shop but also a souvenir stop… ya that kind of place. Grab your cinnamon roll to go and head up the poudre River to grey rock and enjoy the view!

I’ve been going to Vern’s Place since before it burned down in 1990 and was rebuilt. For me, Vern’s has two two outstanding thing on their menu. One is their cinnamon rolls and the other is this HUGE pancake. Both have been on the menu for… I don’t know how long. My favorite was the pancake(don’t even think about ordering two!). I believe the pancake batter must have had yellow cake mix in it. Sure was good! I didn’t even use syrup… it was That good! Well, long story short, the big pancake has been taken off the menu and now the little ones they serve don’t taste the same. So if you’re a «pancake connoisseur», as I am, don’t even bother. Seems now that Vern’s is just serving the regular pancakes you can easily make at home for a tenth the cost its just not worth the trip for me.

I’m giving three stars because the food is still good. I’ll go to Vern’s for the bakery, but it will be a long time before we go there for a meal again. We aren’t hard to please and I understand rushes, but the service today was very lackluster. They put all that time and money into adding a patio and redoing the décor, but apparently forgot about putting service first.

Mediocre but acceptable food. Had a cheese quesadilla. The taxidermy did not make for a pleasant ambiance.

I wrote a scathing review right after the remodel. I am not sure if they were getting their feet back on the ground or what. I have been eating here for years and was disappointed in the first couple of meals. Yes, I said I would never go back. Well, never is a strong statement. We went back and tried Vern’s a couple more times. Although I was not a fan of the remodel, it has grown on me. The food is why I went back and will continue to eat here. The service is just icing on the cake. We have had a few dinners. The Fish and Chips have been great. I had the 16oz Prime Rib dinner a couple weeks ago and it was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were in season and fresh, the dinner roll was home made and wonderful. We had breakfast there today. My wife had the breakfast burrito and I had the Country Fried Steak, both were really good. This is just plain good cooking, simple yet quality food with staff that takes great pride in making everybody feel like a guest.

Vern’s! I’ve been wanting to visit to try their cinnamon rolls and I finally got a chance to eat at Vern’s the other week for lunch. Interesting décor with the taxidermy specimens, but it gives the place some character. My girlfriends and I each ordered our own cinnamon roll(we knew that we would end up with leftovers), and I also ordered the cheeseburger omelet(open faced omelet, hamburger patty, bacon, and a slice of cheese on top). The cinnamon roll was sooo good, I think I might have liked it better than Silver Grill’s. Giant roll with icing and a little bit of butter on top for a sweet and slightly salty taste. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a big fan of the omelet, it was just kind of meh(probably only 2.5−3 stars). The hamburger patty wasn’t anything very special, and I feel like the cheese was a Kraft cheese slice. So, while service was great and I’m a fan of and will return for the cinnamon roll(4 stars for cinnamon roll!), I’m not so sure about the rest of the food; I think I’d need to go back to find something else to try.

My family and I have been going here for years. Really pleasant atmosphere but at times can be a little crowded. Their breakfast menu is great but their lunch menu is just OK not a whole lot of flavor. Of course the cinnamon rolls are amazing and huge. This place looks really great after the remodel can’t wait to try the new outdoor patio this spring.

A Northern Colorado icon, the epitome of local color. Enjoy the taxidermy while you eat-in, or just head through the gift shop to the bakery counter in back to get what you really want — a giant cinnamon roll(actually, I prefer the pecan rolls …) I recommend stopping in after a day of hiking at Lory State Park or up the Poudre Canyon, when you feel like you’ve earned it.

Been here with my wife and two other couples on a lovely Sunday afternoon, around 1 and luckily they were still serving the breakfast menu. Long story short, good food(my wife did n‘t liked the gravy on her steak but this is a matter of taste not their fault), a pleasant time with friends. Was no waiting time at all for the table which was great. Add couple of beers and some hot chocolate and you get the picture. A returnee for sure with our next visit in FoCO
