I’m up grading my original review to reflect Mr. Lozanos integrity to fix the issues and to willing make amends for the hassle I had. If you can order a stock holster that he has pre made I am sure you shouldn’t have problems or at a minimum visit the store with the exact specifications needed. He was willing to refund my money after the third issue and was willing to let me keep the final holster. I would not keep his work for free and I know the hide was expensive to acquire so we came to an amicable price for materials and we will part ways.

I’m giving Rudy 2 stars because he does excellent work. However, I ordered 2 holsters and a spare mag holder on Feb 6th and didn’t receive them until April 3rd. I realize the craftsmanship takes time because these are all custom made from scratch, but the holster I had made for my M&P compact was made incorrectly even after I gave him the name brand of the exact light that I have mounted on my firearm. I immediately sent him an e-mail informing him of the discrepancy. April 7th I got a response stating that he would make it over and do it ASAP. On May 11th I sent another e-mail asking if I was going to have to wait his typical 6 weeks which he responded the following day stating that he would«do better with me this time and let me know». Which I replied to and asked if he has even started making the new holster. I have not gotten a response as of the date of this review(June 16th). I think 4 months is long enough.

DONOTBUYFROMTHISSTORE– YOUWILLGETSCAMMED! Called the owner of BlackHills Leather to see if he could make a holster for my berretta. The owner told me he will have no issues making this holster and said he does«Excellent» work. After the owner guaranteed his work, I ordered a holster for my Beretta from the owner of BHL on May 30th. I sent him very easy to read emails and nice HD pictures of what I wanted the holster to look like. I waited 2 weeks for the holster and when it finally arrived, it was nothing close to what I ordered and what was in the emails. I decided to try to holster my pistol and the holster is too small! It looks nothing like what I ordered now it doesn’t fit. He used the wrong mold to make the holster. I paid $ 170.00 for this holster and I expected it to be somewhat close to what I ordered and at least fit the pistol. I called to ask the owner for a refund and he got belligerent with me. He shouted in my ear that he wanted pictures. As he screamed in my ear that I was«Wrong» and I «Don’t Know What I am Talking About» I sent him the pictures of the«Tube Sock Holster» he sent me. He hung up on me so I called him back to see if he got the pictures and he continued to shout in my ear then hung up on me again! He even tried using the excuse that he didn’t get the emails. I called back to ask nicely for my refund and he told me he does not want to talk to me ever again. This guy seems to have a real problem with professionalism and getting the job done the right way the first time. CUSTOMER’S DONOTMATTERHERE! I don’t know if this is how things are done in his country(Mexico) but not here in the US. The owner of BHL is extremely unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful and will fight you if there is an issue with his products. Please DONOTBUYANDSUPPORTBLACKHILLSLEATHER! The holster he sent me looks as if it was made by someone inexperienced. The lines are crooked and the stitching is uneven. Now I am stuck with a $ 170.00 holster that looks like a tube sock. Please make sure to do some background checks on Blackhills Leather if you do decide to use them. As far as resources for a background check, start with a search on google and the Better Business Bureau. I have read a lot of threads of the owner taking people’s money without sending the merchandise. Wish I would have found this info before I made a purchase at Blackhills Leather. Please don’t make the same mistake I did trusting this guy. I hope this review helps the public realize that the owner of BlackHills Leather is scamming people. Something needs to be done to stop this guy Rudy from ripping people off and treating people with disrespect. I hope this helped you and thanks for reading.

I ordered a BHSS thumb break holster for off duty carry of my service weapon and a badge holder for a 7-point star badge. The prices were very reasonable for a custom leather holster and I had read a lot of good things about the Rudy and his work. Good: Before I go in to what was wrong with my order, let me say that the holster I ordered for Glock 23 is fantastic. The fit and finish was fantastic and the holster is great with the features you get for the money. The Bad: The badge carrier I ordered is nothing like what I specified. I was very specific when I called and placed the order and even sent a detailed specification sheet on the badge. We have curved badges at my department so it is very difficult to find anything that fits them right. There are also little inconsistencies in the points of the leather that makes te badge have to go in the holder very awkwardly. After some working, you can make the badge go in it, but my problem is that I specified something very different than what I got(i.e. basket weave, no velcro) The biggest problem I have with Black Hills Leather is their customer service. When I placed the order I called and they told it would be about six weeks. I decided it would be worth paying the $ 25 to have the order«rushed.» After 4 weeks, I began calling and was told that my order would be shipping«next week.» Finally after four more weeks, my order finally shipped. I was told that it would ship by Monday and it actually shipped on Thursday of that week. I really wouldn’t have been disappointed had I been told that it would take this long, but I was told pretty constantly that it would be next week. I have decided to make due with the badge holder because it really isn’t worth going through this again. Conclusion: Black Hills Leather holsters are fantastic for the money. Black Hills Leather makes good custom badge holders, as long as there is nothing custom about them. Black Hills Leather has terrible customer service and is not very good at projecting time frames and it absolutely a bad investment to spend the $ 25 for a «rush» order.

I would shop around before ordering a product from BHL. I have been extremely disappointed in how inefficient and misleading they were when handling my business after a simple order. I placed my order well over a month ago and just got notice today that it was finally shipped out. The most upsetting thing about this delay was the fact that I was never contacted by a representative of the company to be informed of the delay. And to add insult to injury, every time I called them to inquire if my product was shipped they always told me that my item would ship in the next couple days. That happened at least 3 times over the course of a month. Again…horrible experience and I would take my business elsewhere!
