I have really grown to love Embassy Suites. And, after a pretty terrible experience in Laredo overall, I would have to say that this hotel was the highlight of my trip. Comfortable bed. Quietish rooms. The rooms seemed more spartan than most — as if some artwork and some furniture were missing. I would recommend NOT getting a room in the back(I believe a west facing room). These are over the air compressors and, when they are on, they are pretty loud. The light blocking curtains dampened some of the noise, but not all. As noted elsewhere, breakfast was above average!

I stayed here on business in January. The hotel and staff were great. It helps to be a Diamond member I guess. Unfortunately, my business meeting did not turn out so well which is why only 3 stars. I had a contract for a private event, and even had a contract. When the bill came, there wasn’t any gratuity, the servers were clueless(but had given very good service), and there was a room setup charge – which was not in the contract. After a number of e-mails, I received one from the GM stating«doesn’t he realize that there is very little profit in food». My guess is that he did not check to see who this was going to before hitting the send button. Bottom line: your profit is your problem. If you make it the customer’s problem, you won’t have one. I spend a lot of nights in hotels throughout the year. Guess I won’t be returning to this one.

This is the newest Embassy Suites I’ve stayed in, and therefore definitely the nicest. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve stayed in recently, with six down pillows of varying fluff levels. The complimentary cocktail hour had more snacks than I’ve seen at other Embassy Suites, including pretzels, popcorn, potato chips, tortilla chips, pita chips, hummus, salsa, chex mix, salad and crudités with ranch, and sliced fruit with yogurt dip along with beers, wines and mixed drinks(5:30−7:30pm). The breakfast was also a step above with big omelets made to order, bacon, sausage, potato wedges, delicious hot salsa, scrambled eggs, rice, refried beans, breakfast breads, pastries, fruit, coffee, tea, juices, oatmeal, cereal and yogurt. The salsa was seriously amazing. Another thing I love about Embassy Suites is not having to check out. The invoice is slipped under your door in the morning which is a timesaver. Only negatives: one of the two elevators was out of service, and apparently had been for quite some time according to other frequent guests. With an 8 – 10 floor hotel, this can cause quite a delay. I seemed to luck out and and never had to wait too long though. Also, I noticed after I got up in the morning and unplugged my phone from the nightstand that there was a super long black hair behind my pillows. Certainly not mine. There was no full-length mirror. The doors were kind of wacky too. When walking from the«living room» through the kitchenette to the bedroom, there were a bunch of doors that all opened in to each other(bedroom, closet and bathroom). Nothing that would keep me from staying here again though.

Standard Embassy Suites offering here which stands well out ahead among other properties. Great service at the front desk. Room is well kept and groomed. Guest bar puts on a great spread with drinks, domestic and import beers, chips, hummus, and veggies. Breakfast is exceptional. Made to order eggs, omelettes, pancakes with offerings on the breakfast bar. Being in Laredo, a little Mexican flair is offered with exceptional refried beans and really delicious house made(hot) salsa. This is the best place to stay in town hands down.
