this place is fabulous! i ordered delivery and the girl who took my order was very helpful and explained what several items were, she called me right back with my total. Delivery was pretty quick but OH the food is just unbelieveable! More than I could even eat. Flavorful and fresh! And the delivery people where also very kind and sweet. I’d give it 10 stars if they had an option for that on here!

This place was recommended by my boss back when I was working on my externship at LMC, she asked me if I ever been to Las Kekas and I straight said«what’s that?» And she had to take me here and there I was. Trying Kekas and I remember my first bite on the chicken mole Kekas and OMG so much flavor and the crunch of the outer shell. I just fell in love with this dish, and this was the third time I’ve been back here. This time I had to come here again, we don’t have this in California(well not where I live) so it’s a must go destination when I’m back in town.

Visiting from California and found this nice spot. The chicken tomato stew is amazing and the refried beans I got as a side are the best I’ve ever had! So is the salsa! Free chips and salsa with meal. I told them to bring me any Kekas and I got one with reddish meat/sauce. I’m sure it’s very popular but I’m still new to it so I should e picked my own safe boring one like just chicken haha. But it’s a fantastic place and cute and artsy and more charming than a mall restaurant:)

This place really tries hard. the owner and staff are friendly and aim to please. the food is good but don’t let it get cold; it turns greasy and hard to eat. When hot, very enjoyable. they have a variety of kekas to choose from and all of them are equally good, the building use to be a house which makes for a cramped restaurant. The parking is challenging. A true novelty and fun food.

I’ve been to a few restaurants in the area, so far this place is the top spot … Very relaxing atmosphere. Our waitress Jocelyn was great. Very attentive … The owners Nicolas and Theresa were very nice … They asked us how the food was and thanked us for our visit … If you visiting the area you have to check it out … If your local make some time to check this place out you won’t regret it … We had the fajita plate which was amazing !! If your a smoker like me then you’ll enjoy the outside patio. Enjoy your meal and top it off with a good smoke ;)

This place is amazing!!! The best refried beans I’ve ever had! The habanero sauce is very flavorful not too much heat and slowly gets hotter and hotter… My head was sweating but my mouth wasn’t burning.

Thanks for leading me to Las Kekas, Unilocalers! It’s a small place in an old house with a small parking lot in back. Inside it’s warm and artsy. We were greeted with a big smile and«donde gustes»([sit] where you like). I was a little nervous I wasn’t going to be able to access my rusty spanish, but the menu is in english, too… and a few staff spoke much better english than my spanish; but no matter: with food, any language barrier can be overcome! We had to have some kekas(empanadas) obviously; went with cochinita pibil(tender & smoky) and huitlacoche(the«corn fungus»; think dark mushroom). All the food was fresh and flavorful, to include the chips and dips/salsas. This is one of those little places with big heart you can taste through the food. As another reviewer mentions, 2 kekas is gonna fill you up nicely unless you’re especially hungry. I wanted a few more tastes, so I ordered(and had to take to go): — molletes(french bread topped with refried beans and melted cheese — think pizza bread with a bean base rather than tomato); I opted for the«frijoles cargados», which have chorizo and bacon mixed in — guacamole, which is served ‘done up’ with pico mixed in Friend got the small pozole, which was also fresh and flavorful. The salsas vary in intensity of bite. If you don’t do spicy at all, you should either skip the sauces(and pico) or be ready with plain chips to soak up the heat.

Delicious food! My only mistake was trying to eat 3 kekas! Two is plenty, trust me. Restaurant is tiny and parking is a bit of a problem. Service is good and owner is very friendly.

The empanadas are delicious; the meats are tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The chips and salsa are great. If you can go around 1:30 p.m., parking will not be a problem. Service was excellent.

Over the top!!! My coworkers and I stopped in for a late lunch. The homemade chips and salsa were fantastic, from sweet and mild to nuclear! Our tapas plate with skirt steak that tasted like filet minion, Kekas and corn poblano were sublime. As new patrons we went with staff recommendations, which were spot on. Coming from the foodie capital«New Orleans», Las Kekas gets my vote for best Mexican and best value in Larado!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. This was my first time having Kekas and they were delicious. The rest of their food was tasty as well. My friend loved the Menudo soup. Above all the service was outstanding. Mr. Nicolas went beyond to take care of us. When they ran out of the beer I wanted, he went out and bought a few for our group. He was very friendly and serviceable. I thought he was great and then, without asking, he brought the churros! The atmosphere was great, you feel you are at your abuela’s having dinner. But is there any place you would rather have dinner?!

It has a very home feeling atmosphere. There were two large groups, so our waiter was taking a while to serve but me and boyfriend didn’t mind the wait. We ate outdoors on their patio and it was nice. The food was amazingg. I had a chef salad which is a variety of different things! My boyfriend got the Super Taco de Fajita and he loved it! Super cheesy!

Found this place thanks to other Unilocalers, so thanks! This place was so good! Between my family and I we tried a few different dishes and everything was scrumptious. Loved the mole, but the kekas were hard to beat. Their salsas were also amazing. So glad I tried this place while visiting, even had some of their salsa to bring back to Cali.

The food was great! We had their specialty dish«kekas»(deep fried tacos-kinda). YUMMY! The only issue is you have to be creative and find parking…

We ate here 12⁄27 and had breakfast. It was wonderful so we came back for lunch the next day. Two in my party were locals, and they said it was the best authentic food they had experienced in the area. The red enchiladas were tasty and full of white meat chicken, and had cream drizzled on the top. We also had the french bread with beans and asedoro cheese. She had the mole chicken and it was delicious. I had the chicken soup and it was full of zucchini, onions, tomatoes and peppers. The 3 hot sauces offered a variety of heat levels and my favorite was the one which had garlic, peppers and other spices in an olive oil base. It had a nice heat which gradually increased and lingered. I have never had any like it and purchased some to take home. The chips were thick and fresh, and had a great crunch. This place was one of the best places i have ever eaten real mexican food.

Kekas kicks ass! Don’t let the small house and small parking dissuade you from coming to this little mom and pop shop. The flavor is big! Kekas are pretty much like fried chalupa-like turnovers with cheese, veggies, and shredded lettuce and sour cream. Here, it is their specialty and you can fill it with whatever filling they have. A large group from my company came here and we were able to share. — carnitas(pork): like pulled pork with mexican spices — pollo tomatado(chicken in tomatos sauce): stewed chicken — huitlacoche(corn smut/fungus): sounds weird, but earthy-corn flavor. tastes kinda like corn chips — camarones(shrimp); baby frozen shrimp seasoned and stewed — chicharones(fried pork fat/skin): if you like pork rinds, you’ll love these If you want an entrée, get the steak tampiquena! It was amazing! Marinated in olive oil, green chiles, garlic, and crack! :) Served with guacamole(amazing and fresh!), rice, beans(also amazing and not gross looking like other refried beans in the area). Don’t get too full cuz there are desserts too. Homemade churros and tres leches! Overall, one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to, if not, THEBEST. Been working a lot In Laredo, McAllen, and other parts of Texas and had my fair share of Mexican food… and this place is a spot you have to try when in the area. All the food is delicious. You may need to brush up on your spanish, but the owner will help translate!
