In from out of town. Lunch today. Not overcrowded like before. Choice of music playing is not to my taste. Some type of soft music in Spanish. Had mixed Teppanyakus and crunchy calamari. Waitress spoke no English so I had to point to the menu to show her my choices. I know it’s Laredo but I would think a restaurant would hire bi-lingual staff??? Food took over 35 minutes to come out and I was one of only 3 tables when I arrived. The place filled up as I waited for my food. So far, not going well… Food was good, portion size was huge, took half home for dinner. Overall I would recommend if you are not pressed for time. I was still at the register at 1 pm when I was supposed to be back at work.

This location is near my husband’s job and service is fast and friendly. The food is good and you can’t beat the price. I should say that we’ve gone multiple times but always for lunch. We’ve gone on our own and once or twice with our young children. The kid’s meals are good for my picky eaters.

Food is great and the staff are always friendly. I wish they would open up soon again because I have been craving sushi madre for a while now. Reason for the lack of one star is just for this one time a staff member, male… he took my order somehow adding more. When he came out with my order. I asked why he gave me more than I ordered, Tells me it’s what I asked for. Before touching anything I explain to him it’s extra he continued to pressure me and so I don’t enjoy personal confrontation I just paid it, though it cost him his tip.

The service is AWFUL! Our server was inattentive, on her phone, forgot our order twice, and took forever. The food was good and at a good price, but I will not be returning.

Small place, ok ambiance. I didnt want to eat there by myself though based on other reviews its not the best part of town so i placed my order to go. I ordered 2 rolls, the Manny and the Red Dragon minus the spice(I dont like spicy foods) and they were both fresh, I was just very under-whelmed by the flavors. nothing was spectacular just barely average. The server tried to be helpful but when I asked for a recommendation and please nothing spicy she pointed out the 2 things on the menu with a pepper next to them. Also I ordered a side of pork dumplings, which she said she got but when my order came they werent there. at least she didnt charge me for them. Still was disappointed though. Overall i wasnt expecting much so they met that expectation I was just hoping for some more flavor than what i got and for $ 10 a roll i was hoping for a little more than sub-average.

Not the greatest neighborhood but they have a small private parking lot on the corner. Friendly staff. We had the Philly Roll, Orange Roll and Villareal Roll. Would never have tried this place without the Unilocal reviews. Definitely a different style of sushi(Mexican flavors) than your typical Japanese restaurant. Very good and we will be back. A great change of pace for my wifes weekly Sushi fix.

Great food and the first time I’ve ever had sushi with hot sauce on the table. Had great service. Food was really good. Neighborhood was a little iffy but will totally go back.

Don’t be fooled by the neighborhood or exterior. This is an awesome dining experience, and the Mexisushi(which, for the pedants out there, I evaluate with different criteria than I evaluate Japanese sushi with) is top notch. A great place to meet with friends, as it isn’t too loud and the staff knows how to work in the narrow area between not being too intrusive and not being too inattentive. Also the name is funny.

be in the know and order the fantasia salad that is not on the menu. don’t be fooled by the word salad. its more of a shrimp salad.
