Since only the first few lines post first, let me lead off by saying Dr. Desai is a wonderful caring doctor and an incredibly compassionate individual. If more doctors were like him the health care profession would be a far better place! And here is why I say this.
My wife had seen her optometrist who felt that it was imperative that she see a specialist ASAP and recommended Dr. Desai. I am working on renovating a house 4 hours away, and being my wife’s caregiver as well, she goes where I go. Our optometrist, who we love and trust, recommended this doctor, so the trip was planned. Since it is such a long trip Dr. Desai’s office scheduled us for the last appointment of the day. It just happened that it was a Friday, and not only a Friday but the Friday of the beginning of a 3 day Memorial Day weekend.
I left the house with hours to spare as I didn’t want to get caught up in traffic, and needless to say that even with an additional 2 ½ hours extra, at ten minutes of five I found myself 30 minutes away from the office! I called, dejected and worried, and told the receptionist my sad story and that my GPS was telling me that in the best of conditions that I wouldn’t get there until 5.15 — FIFTEEN MINUTES AFTER CLOSING TIME! I was beside myself, my very ill wife next to me, as i called them to beg that they do the impossible– stay open to see her after hours on the beginning of a three day weekend! This was also a first time visit for my wife to this doctor, who didn’t know her from Adam. The receptionist came back on the line and said that the doctor would wait for us, and her only comment was «drive safely».
I was both amazed and awed. When we arrived Dr. Desai was there waiting with a smile on his face. He was wonderful. He was cordial and professional and for the next 45 minutes examined my wife, cleaned the wound, and wrote the necessary scripts. NOT one time did i feel rushed, and Dr. Desai made a point of making my wife feel comfortable. I cannot give enough praise both to the Center and particularly Dr. Desai‘, and recommend him to anyone who needs a competent and caring specialist.

Dr. Neel Desai did my corneal transplant and so I was due for a check up 8 months later. When I arrived at the office for my appointment, I had not realized that it was a new calendar year for my insurance. So the receptionist called the insurance specialist right in the office while I waited and found out that the insurance dept at the eye clinic had already contacted my Primary Physician and had gotten the authorization before I even asked. WOW! That is what I call BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever! I had my appointment and all is well and I not only recommend Dr. Desai, but the entire office staff is GREAT. Thank you to the insurance department for being so proactive to get the job done!
