First negative review I have written and I am not proud of it, but it is the only way we as consumers have to communicate distrust or bad experiences with companies to others who may be looking for good service. I did not find it McGill. I was referred to McGill and thats what stings the most. When we needed a plumber to broaden our business, I called for an estimate. «Ray» was to show up 3 days later on Friday between 11−2pm for the estimate. After 2pm rolled around(on a Friday), I called and he was about 45 mins from being there. Never called to say, Hey, I’ll be a little late. Once he shows up, I am on the phone with him at my wife’s shop and explain in detail exactly what needs to be done to meet the requirement for the city and our expansion. «Seems fairly easy» and we will be in contact”.- Ray. So, Immediately called back and asked, «Do you think the estimate would be complete by Monday or Tuesday next week»? Ray confirmed that it would. After not hearing from them at 4pm on Tuesday, I called to see if the estimate was done. I spoke to a young man(did not get his name) and he confirmed that he did not see the estimate as complete and would get with Ray to find out more and contact me back to let me know.(Never heard from the young man). On Friday, I still had not heard about the estimation being completed so I called again. I spoke to Chrissy. She was kind and very apologetic since we are talking about an estimate from a week ago. Again, I was referred and did not think of getting another estimate as such. Chrissy said she would call me back after she talked to Ray to find out more. Again apologizing. So she called me back after talking to Ray and confirmed with me that it was not done, to expect it early next week and she would also let the owner Shane know about the situation. I felt good at this point since Chrissy spoke to Ray and it was being elevated as a concern to Shane. Looking good for a estimate on Monday or Tuesday. I was being patient. Nothing. I called AGAIN on Wednesday(12 days since he came to the store), and asked to speak to Shane. I explained the above situation and he was VERY Apologetic right off the bat, as he should be. I also explained that I was referred but now I was frustrated. Then Shane said, «This is not an excuse, but… Ray does 10FREE estimations a day and everyone wants one when they are FREE». That rubbed me wrong but whatever… He then asked me to hold so he could go speak to Ray and find out whats going on, as Ray was in the office. I was eager to learn why I had not been given the estimation after nearly two weeks since he came to the store. (See, I keep details when I speak to folks because this has happened to –everyone– who is reading this. Everyone has had a business say things that wasn’t true, so wait for it… here comes the BS from«Ray»). Shane never came back on the phone, but Ray did. I was honestly surprised that he would have the gusto to take the call. Ray then stated that something that sent me through the roof. He said, «Yeah, I called you right after I left the building that day and left you a voicemail that McGill wouldn’t be interested in that job». I almost fell over and called that to be untrue. You see, Ray now felt cornered now that the company owner came to him and asked the same question that the others had asked; Why is this estimation not done already? He forgets,(not really) that I called him and asked when it would be done, Chrissy confirmed that it wasn’t done(Yet) and he already gave –two other times– that it would be completed by and failed to deliver. How could that be if he never wanted the job from day one? LIES. Listen, this is detail that tells you the business ethics of McGill Plumbing. The owner Shane handed it off just like the others and let Ray lose business, as well as tick potential customers off. I will forever make sure that anyone looking for a ethical plumbing contractor — should look elsewhere. I feel sad for the company when people like«Ray» are the first contact to the public seeking good workmanship. If you(McGill) try to dispute this or play it down on your response here on Unilocal, please make sure someone other than«Ray» writes it. He simply starts off relationships with lies, so …

I have an old house that’s been converted to a duplex, and the upstairs unit wasn’t getting any water pressure. With the setup we have, I knew it could get expensive just trying to figure out the cause. The representative from McGill was fantastic. He quickly identified and fixed everything in 2 hours. The water pressure is great now :) He was also very professional and kind. I highly recommend them. Thank you for being awesome!

We had a leak in our toilet tank. Called Monday; they came out on Tuesday morning. The tech was Chris and he was great. He came in; did the job; did it well and the cost was not too high. Thank you to McGill and Chris!

I don’t normally write horrible reviews but I have to say we feel scammed. We have used McGill in the past and have never had a problem with any work they have done. So when our water softener had an issue and resin leaked through our lines we called them up. We were told we needed to replace the water softener(which is true), replace multiple faucets & shower heads throughout the house, replace the reverse osmosis system and flush out the lines that could take multiple hours in itself to do. We also had a bathroom faucet upstairs which worked perfectly before any of this happened. After they inspected it(this is a very expensive Brass faucet), they told us it needed replacing because it no longer had any pressure and the resin was clogging it. To make a small story short we got another opinion and when the other company was at our house, we were shown that someone turned off the valve to that faucet which controlled it’s pressure. After turning on the valve, the pressure was fine. The faucet was perfectly fine and did not need replacing. After replacing the water softener, running the water from all faucets in the house for 15 minutes, and replacing one cartridge to our reverse osmosis system, everything works perfectly and for only a few hundred dollars. Not the thousand’s of dollars we were about to pay with McGill. It may have been just a bad employee that came to our house, but regardless, we have a very bad taste in our mouth.
