The Spa Downtown

What a great spa! I was in town visiting from California and I was thoroughly impressed with my massage service. The place was very clean, modern look, the staff was friendly and the massage was great. Such an awesome spa for a small town.

Got one of the best haircuts by Brittany! I was skeptical about getting a haircut here because I usually go to a barber shop but Brittany took very good care of me. She’s friendly and very outgoing! Would defiantly recommend her to anyone looking to get a quick nice cut!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I get regular waxes from Kristy, the owner, who absolutely knows her stuff. I have also had phenomenal haircuts from Ginger, who really took the time to know my hair’s «tricks». The girls always make me feel welcome and the rooms are clean and peaceful. I recommend them as often as I can.

Got a courtesy call after my first review went up basically explaining they didn’t know what happened but they are investigating. They offered me a nice discount should I decide to go back. I am appreciative that they made this effort.

Perfect couple’s massage experience on our honeymoon! Great service from the moment we walked in. We both experienced outstanding combo swedish/​deep tissue massages. We were even given some complimentary local wine afterwards, and a list of local restaurant recommendations to help us find our «couple’s burritos» for lunch.

I am new to the area and have had some difficulty finding a relaxing location for my hair needs. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and efficient staff. They all seemed happy and eager to help. They listened to my wants and needs and produced the exact results I requested. I will be returning and highly recommend this location.

I came back for a second time to get a 30 min facial with Amanda and had a wonderful experience. She explained everything she was doing and constantly made sure that I was comfortable. I was having more breakouts than usual but this session helped to clear my skin. I will definitely be back for more the next time there is a special.

Oh, so much awkwardness, it can hardly be quantified!
1. I booked a deep tissue massage, which costs more than a regular massage, but I didn’t get what I ordered. What I got instead was a sort of desultory, weak-​pressure «Swedish massage.» At least I didn’t get charged for the more expensive service that I booked!
2. I had to change into their robe first. Why? I don’t like wearing your weird bathrobe, spa. I didn’t have to do that the LAST two times, why now?
3. The massage therapist was running 15 minutes late. Nobody told me this; I just had to sit awkwardly in a waiting room for more than 15 minutes wondering whether everyone had forgotten about me.
4. When it came time to cash out, the massage therapist who had given me not what I asked for was the one who did the transaction. For the love of Pete, print out a receipt with a tip line if you are going to give me an awkward massage and then put me into an awkward situation when it comes to pay. I’m not going to speak up to you, the massage therapist, and say «Oh, stick ten dollars on there for a tip.»
Not inclined to go back after the awkward awkwardness.

Fabulous! Wonderful! Relaxing! Amazing! I wanted to pack the whole spa in my suitcase and take it back to Dallas with me!!!
I was in town visiting family at Christmas and since I’m not into the wildlife, hiking thing, I spent the day at The Spa Downtown. And Sister, that was the smartest choice I made on my whole trip! Even smarter than a Loaded Blake’s LotaBurger!
I started with an hour long facial from Kristy the owner. She knows her stuff. It was the best facial I had ALL YEAR and this was Dec. 28^th! I felt amazing and relaxed and my skin was thoroughly quenched. From there I moved on to a full body mud wrap with added scalp massage with Rebecca. This was my first time getting a mud wrap and wow it was wonderful. I was so comfortable I think I fell asleep a few times. I know I was drifting in and out. In my 30 years of body treatments there have only been a handful of times where I’ve felt relaxed enough to fall asleep, so Great Job!
After that, I had opted to add an additional half hour massage to the 30 minute that comes with the mud wrap. Rebecca was my masseur for that as well. I think the one hour massage was the perfect compliment to the mud wrap. I was already wonderfully relaxed and the massage was icing on the cake.
Last I had shampoo and blowout — I spent all that time getting yummy lotions and potions put on my skin, I didn’t want to go home and shower it all off. An invigorating scalp massage and moisture treatment with a simple blowout was the perfect way to cap off the day. A truly wonderful out of town experience.
Since this was my Christmas gift from my husband, kids & mother in law, I was sparing no expense. Had I known it was going to cost so little for all of the above, I would have added everything plus the kitchen sink. The prices were fabulous.
All the little essential items as well… the spa was nicely decorated, easy to find, very quiet in the spa area, carried high end products, it was clean, and provided a locked locker for my stuff while I received treatment. It’s small, but the treatment rooms were excellent sizes, didn’t feel cramped or closed in at all. Lighting was great, staff was VERY polite, friendly and accommodating.
My mother in law booked some last minute appointments with me and she had the same fabulous experience.
If you are visiting Las Cruces and want a relaxing spa day, this is your spot. If you live in Mesilla or Las Cruces, you should make this a monthly (if not more) reoccurring retreat. It’s totally worth the dough!
