I made a quick stop today — National Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven — for the free Slurpee. The staff was very pleasant and since I had never gotten a Slurpee until today, I was at a bit of a loss for where the cups were. I was directed to the display at the front of the store where the small paper cups were and I got mine. At the back, I found the new sugar free strawberry-banana Slurpee flavor and I turned the handle. Wow, did that dispenser give up its stuff fast. I ran it over the top of the small cup and down the sides. It was a mess. Several napkins later, I was somewhat in business but a bit sticky. The Slurpee was refreshing. It’s summer and it’s warm, so a frozen treat like this was fine. I was surprised how long it stayed in the frozen form. I drove home and finished it off with a spoon. This 7-Eleven is on a very busy corner, but it was fairly easy in and back out today. I’m not sure I’ll be stopping to buy a Slurpee again, but I have stopped at other 7-Elevens for their Redbox or for gas when I’m not near Costco. This was a nice free way of learning Slurpees aren’t the thing I will drive to obtain.
