Currently, about 1 out of every 5 reviews of mine are«First To Review» or FTR. That’s because like Spock and the Starship Enterprise, I «venture to go where no Unilocaler has gone before!» Or like Buzz Ligthyear for the younger demographic: «To Unilocalfinity and beyond!» Take this place. I am not totally sure what it is called. My receipts say«Bamboo». Not sure if that is the total name, or is it Bamboo Express, like at Excalibur? Or is it really something else? My charge statement says«One Oasis Bar». Huh? Is that just to get me in trouble on the expense report with my boss? I have 2 charge receipts from here, whatever it is called, and the boss might start to question why I was at the«One Oasis Bar»(wink wink) drinking! What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, unless it is on an expense report! But whatever this place is called, it is located inside the huge Mandalay Bay Hotel complex, but out by the Convention center, which is out beyond the Shark Reef, which is out by the Beach pool, which is past the fine dining Restaurant Row, which is past the Casino, which is past the Registration. And if you are walking through the Luxor connector corridor, it is your morning excersize to get here, instead of 30 minutes on the treadmill. Suffice it to say, this«Bamboo», just like one bamboo tree looks like pretty much another bamboo tree, is a Panda Express Wannabe. Yup, 2 or 3 entrée combo plates out of a steam table served Chinese food. But since it is mostly a captive audience of conventioneers, tourists hungry from the Shark Reef exhibit, or maybe pool families looking for Panda Express, the prices are higher, to wit: 2 entrée plate: $ 12! 1 Soda: $ 3 Total $ 15! That’s about double Panda Express in the strip mall. And the food is not double as good. Trust me. But if you are stuck in this area of the Mandalay Bay complex for hours on end, it is a decent choice. As long as you can expense it, and not get repirmanded and called on the carpet for imbibing in expensive alcoholic drinks at the«One Oasis Bar» when you should have been working a trade show booth! PS — this isn’t open for long hours, often mimicking trade show’s hours going on next to it. So don’t expect to come here with your girlfriend at night so you can save dinner money in exchange for Bottle Service at the Night Club! It won’t be open, and if it is, you won’t save that much!
