Be forewarned, I am biased. Dale Chihuly is my favorite glass artist, so of course I am going to like this gallery. If you are not familiar with his works, you might find them to be odd. And if you don’t know already, the ceiling in the Bellagio is Chihuly. Not only is he my favorite, I have latched onto his style of the wavy edge art. How so you ask? When I was blowing glass, I made several wavy edge bowls in the spirit of a Chihuly. Not nearly as large or as thin as his. The gallery show cases his main styles. Many displays of the wavy bowl, inside a wavy bowl, inside a wavy bowel,… There are also the classic long tubular shapes arranged in a tree or chandelier. As well as some mounted in an organic way as to be growing from the ground. I have always been amazed at how large each glass piece is. It is very hard to blow glass that is that heavy. This is a great place to wander around in for a while. It would be so nice to have one of his works, but you need a large home to sustain this type of art. PS: If you like this place, be sure to visit his museum in Seattle. That place is fantastic.
