I studied Aikido here just for a short time and the experience was life changing. I had to bow out for awhile due to a shoulder injury but am looking forward to returning to the mat very soon. Sensei James Sterling graciously shares his wealth of knowledge consisting of many years of Aikido and Military training. The combination of the pair reflects the wonders of the art and the real-time applications of it’s basics. His creative use of analogies helped me understand some of the basics/lessons/techniques. Safety and taking care of one another’s training partners is highly stressed here. Everyone will take their own bumps and bruises since this is a Martial Art. Weekend Seminars are also held here 2 – 3 times a year which offer a priceless bounty of knowledge. Reservations are usually needed since folks from all over come to attend these. This will cost extra due to paying for traveling/lodging costs of various Instructors from across the country. The monthly dues are lower or at least on par with any other Martial Art, depending on the option of payment you choose. The senior students here are very helpful and open to share their«paths up the mountain». Ego seems to be really kept in-check here. New students are welcomed with open arms and encouraged to do only what they feel comfortable doing because starting anything new like this can be very taxing on a person’s physical and mental state. I encourage anyone looking for a traditional Japanese Aikido Dojo to check this place out.
