I want to start this review from the perspective of a parent. I can’t say enough about this place and its instructor Evan Dunham. My two sons started training in Jiu Jitsu about 6 years ago at another gym, and so I have had a chance to observe a couple different gyms/instructors and their different teaching/coaching techniques. I’ve always felt that there was a void in their training. I’ve always felt that there was a major lack of communication, lack of detail, and lack of true education. I am no Jiu Jitsu expert by any means, but I am a good father, and as a good parent I only want what’s best for my kids. Well, this place is the best Jiu Jitsu gym that I have ever seen, and the best that I can even imagine. Evan truly teaches the kids in his class. Let me explain what I mean. Have you ever felt that a teacher/coach didn’t want to be there? Have you ever felt the anxiety that you were wasting your time by even showing up to the class? Have you ever felt like you could teach a class better than the teacher? Like there was a major disconnect between the coaches views and reality? Have you ever felt that maybe you shouldn’t think that way because obviously this coach is an «expert» so who are you to question the teachings? I have. I was talking with a friend of mine a couple months ago, and venting about how I wish my boys could get back into Jiu Jitsu(they haven’t really trained consistently for a couple years), and he was saying that a lot of gyms out there are like the ones I just complained about(he’s a retired UFC fighter so he has perspective). Then out of nowhere I found this gym. From day one of walking into this gym my sons felt welcomed. On day one and every single day since they have learned something new. Every single training session has been intense, informative, and fun. They are learning, engaged, interested, getting in shape, and making friends. I can’t count how many times just in the past few classes where I’ve found myself nodding while watching Evan teach the kids thinking wow that was a good way to explain that. I’ve watched him correct the lack of details in my sons Jiu Jitsu game where it blew my son away at how much it instantly improved him. My oldest son has not been in a tournament for more than 4 years, and today he started talking about getting in one. Not because Evan told him to get in one, but because he is excited about getting into it. He knows how good the training is, and as a parent that means the world to me. Again I can’t say enough, but this place is exactly the way it should be, and this is the place to take your kids to learn Jiu Jitsu.

New to Jui Jitsu I looked around a few places before I made my choice here. From the first time Evan made me feel super welcome and treated me like I had been there forever. He is obviously a decorated fighter and jui jitsu artist but you wouldn’t know it from how down to earth and how involved he is with everyone who enters his place. At the end of the day you are getting world class instruction and hands on feedback that people in other places dream of. Hands down best place to learn and train. So grab a water and get rolling!

Great jujitsu school for Brazilian jujitsu athletes. My husband practices/teaches here occasionally(and at Drysdale Jujitsu) and he is pleased with Dunham jujitsu. I watched my younger daughter tonight in the kids class and she was actually laughing and having fun when at first she was upset to come in. It appears to be a class act place. The owner, Evan Dunham is a black belt and MMA fighter, yet, such a humble and polite person. Listening to him instruct the kids he’s kind and encouraging. Listening to him with the adult class I can say he’s also encouraging and professional. If you’re looking for a jujitsu place that is clean, professional and has top notch instruction, I’d recommend this place.

Dunham Jiu Jitsu is not only a gym where our daughter Makaylah trains, but also a place we are proud to call our second home. When we first met Coach Evan we were ecstatic knowing that Makaylah would be training with a UFC veteran. Coach Evan’s teaching techniques cater to each individual — highlighting their own strengths and allowing them to grow, not only in a physical sense, but also in building confidence in ones character. Coach Evan has taken Makaylah under his wing and is mentoring her into a strong and smart athlete, as well as, someone with great work ethic. He has cornered Makaylah in multiple Jiu Jitsu tournaments and more recently, her very first Muay Thai smoker(fight). Although Makaylah emerged victorious in these competitions, the most important thing we remember after each battle is what Coach Evan has instilled in all of us, kids and parents alike: It’s not about whether you«Win or Lose,» but rather, it’s «how» you«WIN and LEARN». So if you are looking for a place where your child can learn the art of jiu jitsu, etc., and/or are looking to take your training to the next level, come to Dunham Jiu Jitsu where everyone is treated as an equal and more importantly, like FAMILY!

Dunham Jiu Jitsu is the best by far. Evan is seriously running the whole show. He runs the front desk, coaching all the classes, and he still finds time to train for his day job! Extremely impressive. A friend and I went in to check it out because we were(and still are) ready to go down the path of learning Jiu Jitsu. Evan greeted us with handshakes and hellos. We get changed into our Gi and hit the mat. Everyone there is extremely nice, friendly and there are no egos here, extremely fun and positive atmosphere! Talk about a work out! Evan gets very into helping each student if they are having trouble, he will get right down on the mat and show you how the technique is done. I will admit, I am a complete n00b, I hardly know anything about it and after training, for these few weeks, I am gaining the conference and knowledge of the martial arts and I have to tip my hat to Evan Dunham. After that class my friend and I knew that this is the place to train and signed up. We’ve been going for about 3 solid weeks now and I cannot stop talking about this place! I highly suggest this place to anyone that wants to train hard, have fun, and learn the best martial art on the planet. I wish I could give this place 10 more start. That is how much I love this place.

Time after time, I find myself thinking and speaking aloud to Olivia, «You kids are so very lucky to get so much of Coach Evan’s time and energy.» Evan’s youth jiu jitsu program is truly one of his priorities. He’s mentoring kids, day after day, building their skills and bettering them as individuals and teammates. His team of kids are loyal to him and it’s easy to see why. With his expertise, professional experience and personal character, Evan fosters an environment for success at all levels. Adults, youth, pros, hobbyists… Evan welcomes everyone and makes them feel at home. We love being part of the Dunham Jiu Jitsu family!
