I was invited to Epic Nightclub’s pre-grand opening party last month. Whenever I hear Beyonce’s «Single Ladies», I think of Epic. Not only was the place full of single[1] women, the DJ blasted the song at least twice; its frenzied pace and catchy rhythm fit perfectly. The sound system sounded pretty good, and sure had volume. This afterhours spot closes at 9AM[2], so there’s plenty of time for mischief, especially if you’re arriving from another party. Their interior is large and loft-like, with multiple floors, multiple bars, and enough VIP tables to accommodate a fair number of groups. While smoking’s permitted, there’s enough space so you might not stink like an ashtray the next morning — at least, not too badly. After a few drinks, well-dressed partygoers took it to the dance floor. The edge of the dance floor was a minor tripping hazard: a few girls(and guys, including myself) stumbled at times. Besides that, a fog machine and a rather-impressive laser light show kept folks dancing. Loved the cordial security and friendly staff[3], including bartender Alli, who I almost tipped $ 20.(She double-checked with me, which was honest of her!) Shotgirls did their thing, enthusiastic go-go dancers strutted their stuff, and attractive servers kept order, delivering drinks, and ensuring only the right people could get to their VIP tables. Bravo to the volunteer go-go dancers who jumped on stage during the go-go dancers’s break, including a young lady in a black-and-white skirt. [1] …who may or may not have been single. Didn’t get any numbers, and not speaking Korean didn’t help. [2] On Facebook( ), I see 5AM. Their web site and flyers list 9AM. [3] Thanks all for the free shots! Much appreciated.
