So gluten free has never been a favorite, especially when it comes to those whom enjoy a gluten rich diet. However, this bakery is delicious! Had the blue berry pie and it may not fill the requirements of a gluten rich diet but it does satisfy the taste buds! Plus the owner is adorable and informative! Thank you for a wonderful(guilt free) gluten zeros dessert!

Have enjoyed almost everything i have eaten from GutenZero Bakery. The owner is super sweet and I would really like to see this bakery succeed. Such a great need for treats for us gluten free folks! ;) I only had one disappointment from this bakery. They promptly offered me new ones even though i was only trying to let them know to be nice so they could improve those. So that was really cool! Everything else i have tried from there has been yummy! Definitely recommend this to gluten free folks!

On entering, I was immediately greeted by an employee as I perused a display case containing 2 trays of miniature carrot cakes. I then checked for other pastries, but was disappointed to find trays with only 1 or 2 pastries so I ended up purchasing 2 carrot cakes, one with and one without walnuts. We shared one later that evening and the other the night following, but the cakes were much too dry though the cream cheese frosting was good.

I tried the carrot cake and brownie. I will keep coming back. They’re dangerous! I thought the carrot cake frosting was a bit too sweet for me(thats just me coz I find most things are), I still want more. The brownie I had to begrudgingly share with my kids for a small taste. My 9-yo son said, «Oh I want gluten free now!» I’m not allergic to wheat, but to rye. I’m at a phase where I’m testing if I should eliminate wheat too cause somebody told me that a big percent of wheat is tainted with rye.

Stopped in on a whim this morning, not ever hearing about this bakery before. My mom was recently diagnosed with a gluten, dairy and egg allergy so I wanted to get her a treat. As soon as we stepped in, the woman who owns the shop was so friendly and lovely to us. She chatted with me about gluten allergy and gave me some great information. BUTTHEBESTPART, the chocolate cupcake brownies were delicious and I was told by a friend that she loved the cookies as well! Absolutely wonderful, we will be back!

If you like pizza and have food issues, this is the place to come. I read these two ladies’ story at their website and was very struck by it. I applaud them for tackling this calling. I think maybe it is a calling. If you feel well, there is no motivation to respond, but if you hurt and are experiencing pain like you have never known and someone is patting you on the back and writing you MRI referrals while telling you not to tell anyone that food elimination abates your symptoms – it’s too hard. It’s the GI tract – then take notice. That is not your best advice and they are brain dead. Get online and research histamine intolerance and food intolerance and learn learn learn… your best answers are here.

We were visiting the area, and I stopped in here on my way out of town after noticing their sign the day before. I’m gluten intolerant, so I am constantly looking for innovators in this area. They did not disappoint. I tried two different flavors of cookies and picked up a loaf of bread fresh from the oven. The flavor of the bread is strikingly close to any yeast-based, raised loaf(very good). They had brownies and other baked goods available as well. The owner, Cris, is constantly refining her recipes and we’re the lucky beneficiaries. I got to «talk shop» with her for a few minutes, and her family have themselves been dealing with extreme gluten allergies(Celiac) for many years. Thus, she’s got the experience on what needs to be considered in prep and ingredients. Customers should be able to relax and know you’re in good hands with someone that isn’t just doing this because«gluten-free» is something of a fad in some circles. I have a feeling GlutenZero Bakery just getting started with her offerings, and they’re going to be something over time. I will, definitely, go back.

Everything is 100% gluten free, so people who need to adhere to a strict gf diet can enjoy without worry! I sampled a little of many of the gf items that were available at the time(I went on a weekday right before closing, so they probably have more during peak hours). These included the carrot cake, lemon cake, brownie, and chocolate cake, but it was the raspberry tort that«took the cake»! I still fantasize about that raspberry tort, and need to make a trip to see them again :-) Also, the owners are a super-nice husband and wife team, with the wife being the primary food artist. She was caring enough to personally return a phone call on her day off, no less, and do her best to answer my questions about the ingredients she uses, and told me that her recipes are an evolving process(a true gluten-free baker!) I will be back.

Items Selected: Samples — Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, Black Forest Cake, BBQ Sauce. Cinnamon Roll Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Walnuts Brownie and Truffle Icing with Pecans Lemon Curd Vanilla Cupcake Not exactly involved in the diagnosis or management of Celiac Disease, but watching the trend of ‘gluten free’ everything take place from the perspective of a physician charged with assigning treatment to other autoimmune related conditions it was actually at the recommendation of a patient afflicted with both Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and biopsy-proven Celiac that a stop at GlutenZero Bakery off Eastern Avenue was planned, owner Clarissa and her son each busy preparing the days goods but delightful and forthcoming just the same. In part a work of passion but also one of self preservation, the owner and her daughter each suffering symptoms for years before their own diagnoses, GlutenZero is a certified gluten free space in a repurposed former gym and admitting a great deal of expense invested in opening the place without yet catching on with the community at large it was with several samples shared that Clarissa discussed her process and practice, everything made in house with top-tier ingredients and even the Lichtenstein-leaning paintings on the wall produced by her hands. Almost as expansive in selections as the space itself is in size, the front chiller filled with several styles of carrot cake while the rest are encased in glass near the baking area in back, it was first in a small spoonful of fresh, fruity Barbeque sauce that opinions began to form and although the German Chocolate was a bit more dense than some may prefer the flavor spot-on, the same to be said of a citrusy lemon curd cupcake stuffed with stiffly whipped cream that thankfully trended far more light. Unable to pass up cinnamon rolls that were being glazed fresh from the oven before my very eyes, suffice it to say that unlike the springy curls of Glutton or The Bagel Café the version at GlutenZero eats more like a yeasty poundcake not-so-different than Cinnabon, though a touch more toothsome and far less buttery in taste. Modesty impressed to this point, though still not wowed, it was next into the carrot cake that fork-and-knife were plunged, the first bite flooding the palate with sweetness and spice while subsequent tastes revealed textural variance amidst a substantial amount of moistness, the frosting tangy with cream cheese beneath a light dusting of ground nuts. Told by both the owner and my patient that the chocolate truffle brownie was perhaps the best in town it was admittedly with skepticism that such a claim was assessed, but setting aside all prejudices related to rumors and dietary restrictions it would honestly be difficult to name any as decadent, both the flourless chocolate base and creamy ball atop it on par with plated desserts at restaurants despite far less expense. ****Doing very impressive things within the strict limitations of an entirely gluten free space one can only hope that there is a large enough audience to support GlutenZero Bakery through the early opening phases, I know I’ll be back sometime soon to check out the pies and give the brownie another taste.

We stumbled across this place while out driving, and decided to sample a few of the items. Everything we got was yummy, with just the right amount of sweetness. Yummy tummies all around, and we will definitely be back!

I have been to this bakery twice. The first time both cupcakes we purchased were extremely dry and bland. I thought I would try it one more time. This time I got a cupcake and a cinnamon roll. They are both extremely dry and have no flavor. I couldn’t even finish the cinnamon roll because it was so dry. I’ve had other gluten free bakery items where I could not even tell the difference. This place is definitely not one of them. Won’t be going back.

We are on vacation from San Diego and happened upon this gluten free bakery. My 10 year old son is gluten free but let’s be honest, we can all benefit. We ordered lemon curd and a chocolate truffle cupcakes. I love anything lemon so I couldn’t wait to take a bite of this tasty treat and it was delicious! As for the chocolate truffle… a family favorite. My husband said you’d never know it’s gluten free. We’ll be making another stop today after 1:00 when the fresh bread is ready. I highly recommend supporting this local business because Cris, the owner understands challenges faced by those who eat GF.

Absolutely amazing! I’ve tried everything of hers and shes always so sweet and friendly. She has so many options not only for GF people but even vegan. She goes beyond GF and really cares. If you’re ever in town this is the place to go. Everything I’ve tried has actually been better, more moist, and more rich than regular bakeries that have wheat cupcakes. If you’re Celiac or not, or not really sure what Gluten Free means, just go try this place you won’t regret it.

I tried the carrot cake cupcake and the german chocolate cupcake, and both were incredibly delicious. My boyfriend does not react well to gluten, so these were for his birthday, and he loved his carrot cupcake. My birthday is this month, and will definitely be getting my birthday dessert from here!

The wife is happy we came here tonight. She is on a dairy and egg free diet right now and usually can’t have sweets because of eggs and milk being in most baked goods. She enjoyed a vegan carrot cupcake tonight and loved it. I enjoyed a lemon cream tort with my daughter that is not vegan. This place is amazing! If you have gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, you should check out this bakery! The best part is that everyone will love these baked goods whether they have issues with gluten or not.

Nice to know there is a good option for GF vegan treats that I don’t have to make myself! My carrot cake was a little sweet, but it was DELICIOUS! And Cris is super nice and knowledgeable! I’ll totally go back!

GlutenZero Bakery’s doors are open for business! For now it’s soft opening. The current offerings are a variety of gluten free cupcakes. I was seriously blown away at how rich and chocolatey the brownie truffle sampling that owner Clarissa offered me. She created tasty GF treats without compromising the texture and taste. So good that everyone can enjoy these! Without any hesitation I paid $ 4.99 for Brownie Truffle cupcake with pecans. Size wise, larger than a cupcake. So worth the price. The bakery/kitchen prep area is a gluten free zone. For those you who are gluten sensitive or diagnosed with Celiac Disease, I know you’ll appreciate this. You don’t have to be worried about cross contamination since this place specializes in gluten free baked goods. I can’t to try Clarissa’s trademark bread SafeBread. According to their website it’s a bread that is for safe Celiacs, Diabetics Autistics and Vegans. For now though, there are two cold case displays filled with just the cupcakes. Grand opening targeted for June 6th, with ribbon cutting festivities from 5−7pm NOTE: This Unilocal listing name is formatted wrong. It’s GlutenZero. Just like their storefront sign and how their business cards read. Correction for name and address change has been submitted, Location and Hours: your visual cue from Eastern Ave is Twin Peaks restaurant directly behind it, right by Crêpe Expectations. The store hours fluctuate. For now bakery will stay open till 7pm to accommodate those coming down after gym class. Sweet!

This is a Gluten Free Bakery, however it is NOTSUGARFREE… The items are made with care, however everything made with C&H Sugar, so if you are diabetic, or watching your sugar levels, this is not the place for you. We decided to stop in and bought a brownie truffle with nuts. I took it home and could only take two bites and started to get a headache from all the sugar. The taste is good don’t get me wrong, the ideas are great, the creations are amazing, but as of right now there is nothing sugar-free. This is a soft opening for this place the official Grand Opening will be in early June so maybe as they get things going better, they will look at using something other then pure cane sugar or even try making some items sugar-free. The stuff here is good, there were only a few selections available but like I said, be careful because Gluten Free does not necessarily mean healthy, you will still pack on the pounds with all the sugar in the items they currently have. Unless we see a change, this is a place we will not be back because sugar, especially at the content level in their products is not something we can tolerate. I say you still should give them a try and leave your own comments. I am just one person who cares about sugar content, there are many that may think this place is Heaven, I just cannot eat what they serve as it will put me there and I am not ready to go yet.
