Great Wall Bookstore

Great selection of items — especially Japanese animé items — one of the most extensive Totoro lineups I’ve seen in the States so far. The store layout though is a bit claustrophobic though and they have «you break it, you buy it» signs throughout (which is quite silly given the tight spaces there). There are a few books, but to call it a bookstore is a misnomer.

Best place to pick up stationary gifts. They’ve got a large selection of really unique notebooks. I always take about an hour or so to look through them since I can’t decided what to get. They also have lots of open animé figures, posters, keychains and backpacks. I’m guessing they had problems with thieves since there are so many «You are being recorded on camera» signs.

One side is a Chinese bookstore, I also saw some DVDs and CDs as well.
On the other side it’s kind of like a gift shop. There are LOTS of journals, like at least 3 big tables full, which is the reason I went in. I was very happy, lots of different sizes and types with lots of different uses.
Besides the journals they had some stickers to go on your journals, some washi tape, cute pens and pencils, and lots of hello kitty and animé items.
Very nice prices, it’s located in the mall section in Chinatown, if I remember right it was the store next to the boba place? Anyway, stop bye if you have a chance it’s all very cute!

a lot of products, friendly customer service and easy location. Prices are okay, you find good finds and others are a miss. a lot of journals, pens, hello kitty stuffs.

This is an awesome store located in Chinatown in the Strip. The front end of the store is a Chinese bookstore, while the back is filled with the goodies. The two sections are separated by shelves.
The back end of the store has Hello Kitty stationary, character bags, phone cases, animé merchandise, and a whole bunch of miscellaneous items.
Everything there is kawaii and I love the animé stuff they have. There’s also a boba store called No 1 Boba Tea located next door.

Small bookstore located inside the Chinatown mall. Half of the store is a bookstore and the other half is a area with a bunch of cute pens/​pencils, notebooks and other random stationary stuff, and some animé related things. I spent a decent amount of time in there and bought a few things. The only thing I didn’t like was how unfriendly the 2 cashiers are. Do you guys not know how to smile?

Inside the Chinatown mall is this «bookstore». They do have books, but majority of stock is Asian décor (including tons of New Years party supplies) and small toys. Only saw Japanese books, but they do have a large selection of blank journals and Hello Kitty merchandise. Lots of «YOU ARE BEING RECORDED!» security signs around, kind of a turnoff. Several phone covers, water bottles/​theromoses and action figures.

Chill store with good deals for collectible animé figures, but I only got one complaint. I asked the clerk (young girl with glasses) if she had an extra dragon ball z figure in the storage, because the one on display was messed up. She said no & that they ran out. She didn’t even bother to look. So the next day I came back & there was a another worker (older lady) I asked her. she took her time to go in the back to check & what do you know!!! There was a brand new figure. The older lady was more nice & more interactive. The younger girl worker seems lazy as fuck. Thank you to the older lady. You the real MVP!

If you like cute Asian doodads, this is the store for you. There were tons of stuffed animals, journals, clocks, figurines, cell phone cases, etc. in this store. It’s amazing. I bought this Totoro thermos for $ 20.
If I didn’t already have tons of journals, I would have probably picked some here. There were so many of all different shapes and sizes and at reasonable prices too.
They had a lot of Sanrio, Totoro, Despicable Me, and Sailor Moon items here, to give you an idea.

I could spend hours in this store browsing through all the aisles of cute items. Sanrio, Disney, anything you can imagine. Old and new items alike.
I found lots of cute items I wanted to buy. The store is located inside the Chinatown Plaza.

Hidden gem! (hopefully it won’t close anytime soon, seeing how this place don’t get a lot of customers) I’m not a big fan of Hello Kitty, but my sister does, and if you’re like her then you’ll definitely want to stop by. I discovered this place last year by accident – we were meant to go to the boba place nearby. I’ve been to enough Sanrio stores with my sister to know that this place carries HK merchandise that long ago are not carried in Sanrio stores anymore. If you’re into old HK goodies and cute stationery in general then this is a place for you. Especially if you’re from California, where these stuff usually are a lot more expensive. I mean I got a cute journal for like $ 5, which is impossible to find here in SoCal. It took me a lot of self control not to buy everything lol (yes they’re cute but let’s be real. We don’t really need some of them haha) but yeahh do stop by and take a look around!
PS: Last time I paid with cash. Not sure if they accept cards.

Unilocal 365 CHALLENGE 2014−(139÷365) «Barnes and Noble’s Asian Cousin»
Mom and Pop were in town and were wondering were they could look for Hello Kitty things for my niece, so after we got our #1 Boba fix, we headed a couple of doors down to Great Wall Bookstore.
All kinds of neat trinkets and knickknacks to see here and tons of animé/​hello kitty/​sanrio stuff too. Books, newspapers, DVDs and magazines are also available here too.
Stop in when you’re at #1 Boba, You might find something for you or your kid. ALOHA!!!

I recently visited China Town in Vegas for the first time! I came into this cute book store and was shocked at all the cute stuff they have. From Sanrio products to all the small figurines, I highly recommend others to check this place out. The amount of books they have is impressive. I wanted to buy all the cute notebooks!
This place is right next to Diamond Bakery. I will definitely return to this book store the next time i’m in Vegas to get me a cute notebook.

Back in the late 90s, Great Wall Bookstore was my #1 supplier in Sailor Moon sticker cards and other Animé goodies. I could easily spend a good hour wandering through that store and making mental checklists on what I wanted — posters, toys, Engrish stationery sets that I had no intention of ever using.
Now, Great Wall Books has expanded.
— Books, Magazines, and Newspapers: They now carry more reading material than before, though most of these are written in Chinese.
— CDs: Keep your eyes out for counterfeit treasures, especially ones featuring Jennifer «Lopen» (was she married to Marc Antwoney?), and Michael Bolton CDs masked as Korean techno ones.
— Sanrio items: Many of the designs sold here have been long retired. If you didn’t buy that one purse with the Hello Kitty design of her walking a poodle while wearing high-​heels, there’s a possibility you could find that here.
I don’t frequent Great Wall Bookstore as much as I used to, since I now have two Tokyo Discounts to shop at, but it’s still fun to drop by on occasion.

Probably my fav store for Sanrio/​Hello Kitty stuff in Vegas. Most official Sanrio stores only carry the current lines, but this one always has a huge variety of styles. Guessing its because they don’t have a clearance section to get rid of current stuff, and for once that’s a good thing. You get a lot more to choose from and they do also get the current lines too.
Sanrio is just one section of the store — its mostly Chinese language books, magazines and DVDs. Pretty big variety of those too
