This is a trail that I’ve seen while driving the 215 but have never given it a go until today. The problem is there’s no trailhead parking on the west trail. I parked in the Reynolds Boy Scout Resource Center. Since it’s Veterans Day, the building is closed and I was the only car there. I’m not sure if I’d be allowed to park there when the center was open. I rode the sidewalk on Paradise and crossed Warm Springs to enter the trail. From there it’s basically a level trail that I followed until I got to the Cactus Wren Trail east of Eastern Avenue in Henderson. I’d recommend crossing Eastern with care. Especially with the turn lanes of the freeway, the crossing can be dicey. The I-215 East Bicycle Trail goes until St. Rode Parkway where it meets with the St. Rose Parkway Trail. They are doing some tree planting along the freeway sound wall at the first part of the trail. From Warm Springs to Robindale, they’re planting evergreens and desert trees. The trail crosses a few streets and the one to take special care other than Eastern is the crossing at Windmill. It’s a U-shaped crossing and since Windmill is a freeway ramp street, there’s a lot of traffic headed to/from the 215. This is a good trail to connect with some of the trails in Henderson to create a good biking experience. I tied this together with the Cactus Wren Trail and the St. Rose Parkway Trail for a 21 mile ride. You get some good vistas. I saw plenty of families and singles walking and riding.
