I grew up going to the same dentist every 6 mos. My entire family went to this dentist for years. His staff, his hygienists and himself knew us and knew our needs. This type of office might be a thing of the past. EXCEPT for Dr Whalen’s office.
If you do not like a «clinic» type of dental office. Where you never see the same person twice, where you suspect the entire staff are all ex car salesmen, where you feel like you are on an assembly line, where they never run on time, THEN I recommend scheduling a new patient exam and cleaning at Dr Whalen’s office (AKA Sun Dental Center). He is tremendously picky who he hires & most important, HE IS GREAT!
I know this because he is my dentist & my employer for several years. I wouldn’t write this review if it wasn’t true.

Best dentist in town! It’s always a pleasure to see Dr. Whalen and Mo (the dental dog)!

Dr. Whalen was my dentist prior to 2010. He is now my folks Dentist, and I frequently take my Dad to appointments. The staff and Dr are always friendly, timely and thorough. It is not one of those Jetsons super futuristic type of places, but they get the job done just as well.
For those who do not have Dental Insurance there is a Unilocal Deal for an examination and x-​rays for $ 49. Pretty darned reasonable if you ask me. Yes it is within Sun City Summerlin, and dodging golf carts and elders driving the car park in a less than safe way is a hazard. Just park as far away as you can if the patient does not have a «Handicapped» plate or hang from the rear view thingie; drop them by the ADA ramp and park farrrrr awayyyy.
Usually appointments are easy to obtain — they are closed Fridays as most Dentists are, what DO they do on Fridays? Have a Steve Martin «Little Shop of Horrors» meetings — I keed, I keed. Just keep Dr. Whalen on your radar, good guy. Kinda reminds me of my Dentist growing up in New York. Kind, doesn’t gouge you and has an excellent bedside manner. All of the hygienists and office workers are just as cool.
Especially for those without insurance, give him a ‘Ello Gov’ner”
