I ran the course in April 2014. It was a great time with only a few complaints. The orgainization was great for the most part. The parking was very well orgainzed and staffed. I have had harder times parking at WalMart! The check-in was easy and the bag drop was secure. It’s a great service to offer so people don’t have to tie car keys to their shoes! A few sections of the course bottleneck so you have to wait for«nervous nelly’s» to go or get off the pot! The cargo net, some of the more steep angled dunes and the barbwire low crawl all took FOREVER. Next time I’ll just take the burpee penalty and walk right by them all. But the point is to try every obstacle so that’s why I gave only 4 stars. The pictures were nice quality but they needed more locations set up. The website had a few glitches when trying to order the pictures but it was sorted out in a reasonable amount of time. I’m signing up for 2015! I didn’t realize they had a kids course so I’ll have my mini-me hustlin’ over some walls!

The terrain was not the greatest. Mostly rocks and gravel, which is probably the reason they called this location«The Gravel Pit». I turned my ankle numerous times. Did not enjoy this course as much as I enjoyed the previous one out in Henderson. I doubt Spartan Race will host the Vegas event here in the future.

This Spartan Race was about 9.5 miles and 20+ obstacles in the blazing sun and dry desert of Las Vegas/Gravel Pit. There were many, many, many uphill and downhill dirt climbing trails. Very dusty and no grass or water in sight. The rocks/dirt made this race that more challenging, actually rolled my ankle twice, but fought through it to the end. The toughest part of the race I would have to say would have to be the barbwire mud crawl over jagged rocks/mud. I’m not the smallest guy and with all my legs cramped up, a true challenged conquered! AROOO! Overall, when all said and done, its an indescribable experience of achievement and lots of fun. 2 more races this year(The Beast and The Sprint)…and then I achieve the coveted«Spartan Race Trifecta» If you have thought about or have been wanting, stop thinking or talking about it and just DOIT! You won’t regret it! G-LUCK! AROOOO!

This was my first Spartan event and I have to say that it was Awesome! The course was real challenging and rocks became my best friends. I must have carried rocks in my shoes from the start of the race til the 8 mile finish! The event was extremely organized and everything was marked well for new comers to find their way around. I ran in the volunteer heat opting to stay 8 hours after my race to help out. It was great working with other volunteers from other surrounding states. Overall I recommend this event to people needing a fresh challenge in their lives. Bring coconut water, hydration pack with plenty of water and power chubbies for the extra energy during the race. It was also very useful to have Icy /Hot cream after your race because I cramped up real bad after the race later on in my hotel room! Bring a friend to help tend to your battle wounds afterwards and for moral support!

This was not as easy as it looked! Twisted my ankle at mile 4 –____– had to pace myself the rest of the race. The venue was okay not too many muddy obsticals as the spartan sprint. Damn tough mudders! But overall it was a great challange accomplishment. To all you who participated and finished, good job and good work! Beat is next, Here we come! AROO!!!
