Fresh from a trip from San Diego my in-laws recommended that my wife and I try Manila Sunset. We drove over to Sahara and went reluctantly into the grocery store; Manila Seafood. The smell was terrible at the front door and only got worse as we approached the counter. All the warning signs were in place, so we turned around and left. This place is to be avoided, unless they improve greatly in the future.

Nestled inside the filipino store next door to Pinoy Pinay, lies good ‘olé Manila Sunset. We didn’t know they had opened one here but was excited to try them out. As we shopped for our filipino snacks in the grocery store, we had placed an order of Sago and Gulaman(boba with gelatin in a sweet brown sugar drink) pancit malabon(filipino noodles) and arroz caldo(chicken with rice porridge). Ugh! Sooooooo disappointing. The sago and gulaman seriously tasted like they didn’t even put a teaspoon of sugar in it. Its suppose to be sweet not bland. The pancit malabon comes with slices of hard boiled egg on top but this one came with small crumbs of its egg shells:/ This was not at all appetizing as you try to chew and you are left with the … EGGSHELLS… not just one. But alot of small pieces at each bite! Ugh… Ugh… But thankfully, we did enjoy the arroz caldo. Very flavorful indeed. I will probably just come back here solely for the arroz caldo.
