The new employee Vanessa is not into customer service. Twice I went to her side of bar and the senior Vanessa has to service me. I seems like she ignored me due to my looks(have gray bread) wife says I look homeless. It’s sad that I’m ignored due to my looks, maybe someday she will understand I have money. It was her lost tonight I will never over a drink from her and WILL not tip her like I do others

Was recommended by a friend! Very very cheap but not bad food! Had a decent giant hotdog with fries and a pop for less then 7 dollars! Not sitting tables, just stand around and eat, and watching people play slot machines. For the price, it’s probably one of the best you can get around the Fremont!

Is there anything better than $ 1 deep fried Twinkies and $ 1 deep fried Oreos at midnight? How about $ 1.50 hot dogs and $ 3 brats at 1am? Maybe a steady flow of attentive hostesses bringing around free drinks while you sit at the penny slots and enjoy the amazing euphoria that accompanies this gluttonous meal you are partaking in. Mermaids is a fantastic and often less-crowded option to the strip and even much of Fremont Street downtown. It is a smaller casino, but it has great vibes, from the friendly greeting at the door with the beads and raffle ticket to the friendly cooks behind the counter. Just slots and video poker, so don’t come expecting to play table games, but for my friends and I it was more about the food than the slots(though I did come out with some winnings on those too). They have great service here and are a great way to start off the night or finish it, or sometimes both.

This place definitely has some character. It is a small casino but I absolutely love the vibe! Beads when you enter, raffles to keep you motivated to stay and 99 cents deep fried twinkies and other food. Oh my it was good too! I stayed and played the penny slots and the waitresses there were some of the nicest I experienced during my one week visit. I was never without a drink in my hands and I wanted to stay longer than I intended… I will be back next time!

I have to laugh at the negative reviews because this is a fun place. It may not be the cleanest or the fanciest, but it sure was fun! The fried food such as oreo’s and twinkies hit the spot after a few drinks. The free frozen drink wasn’t that big but very good. Waitress’s and girls at front door were very friendly. Overall excellent place to hit on the old strip.

AVOIDTHISPLACE!!! The cocktail waitresses are RUDE!!! I got yelled at for not playing high enough bets on the slot I was playing. She actually grabbed down and pressed the button to change what I was betting! This place used to be fun, we came here the last 3 times we were in Vegas. I will never set foot in this dump again. RUDERUDERUDE! If you want to have fun, don’t go here all you will get is screaming and dirty looks.

Nathans Hot dog is in this casino. I didnt come here to gamble. I just wanted to eat some food. Come here to grab a bite to eat. If you happen to sit down at a machine, wipe your hands, because everyone else is eating too! Good luck! :)

Mermaids is a casino with a lot of history but kind of gets shoved to the backburner by the other many options that there are downtown. There are no table games, just slots and video poker and they even have coin machines which is a truly modern rarity. Originally a hospital and pharmacy, Mermaids converted to a casino in the 1930’s and has been one ever since. From 1978 through the late 1990’s it was known as Sassy Sally’s and then finally it converted to Mermaids. It is owned by the same people that own the Le Bayou as well as the Girls of Glitter Gulch strip club next door. The big draw that Mermaids offers is Deep Fried Oreos, Twinkies, and Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches. All are priced at $.99 to $ 2.50 and offer tons of powdered sugar and calories with funnel cake like dough. Their bar is known for yards of ale and frozen margaritas and daiquiris. For a cheap value and indulgent unique desserts, I recommend Mermaids. It is a place not to be taken too seriously and is really there just for those looking to have a good, cheap experience.

You haven’t been to Vegas unless you go to Mermaid’s. First sit at bar with a daiquiri and watch. Second strike up conversation with bartender preferably Raquel. Third drink another. Fourth grab and eat a Nathan. Fifth drink another. Sixth flirt with a pretty European(maybe from Bulgaria!) blonde cocktail waitress(name escapes me) and she might give you a selfie or two. Seventh drink some more. Eighth… your ready to gamble there and be ready to cash in your winnings. Ninth go to bar and drink a final one with Raquel. Tenth find that cocktail waitress to ask her out. Oh well, I must have forgotten that final step. I will next time. One of best nights in Vegas! Go there for some clean fun. John I’m only on the 10 step AAPLAN!

The most ghetto casino in DTLV! Mermaids standing outside handing out game cards for you to win 100k is all false advisement! They want your money! I only come here for the fried food, when I’m drunk! The place isn’t clean either, who knows why I come here?! Mermaid’s Casino is also one of the few places in Las Vegas that still spits out coins in their slot machines. They cash you out with real money too. The casino’s only gaming options are slot and video poker machines. They don’t have any tables for gambling! Okay. That’s enough of this place! I feel vegas sick!!!

We used to love coming here late at night to gamble and get the fried Oreos. I told my son how great this place is and this trip he came with us so we walked all the way down from our hotel and the damn fryer was broken… Two nights in a row!

This casino has been around a long time, and I’ve walked past it a bunch while checking out the Fremont Street Experience. I was taking a tour today and they had us go here. When they opened up, they were the first 2-level club in Vegas, and they had the first«motor stairs.» They still cash out in real money, which is so much more fun than those voucher paper systems the other casinos use now. It is a small casino, which is common on Fremont. They have a fun little food area.

I’m just going to confirm the $.99 fried twinkles and Oreos are the best late night snack! If you are on Fremont St. this is a must to stop at!

I still have dreams about this place whenever I go to sleep. All those delicious fried Oreos, Twinkies, white castle sliders and cheese fries can sure make a man happy :) Mermaid’s Casino is also one of the few places in Las Vegas that still spits out coins in their slot machines. Personally I wouldn’t gamble here; a slot machine would have to be disinfected 5 times over before I even give it some thought to play it. It’s sooooo dirty and cluttered in the casino area.

You’d be crazy if ya didn’t give this place 5 stars!!! Let me explain :) 1. I was over at New York New York and saw them selling Nathan’s hot dogs for $ 5! That was just the hot dog alone, no sides! 2. Where else can you get deep fried Oreos, twinkies and a frozen banana for a dollar each?!? 3. Where else can you find cheap and filling food after a night of drinking. 4. The portions and servings are good here. I have never seen the employees be stingy with the cheese sauce or the chill. They make sure you are happy! Ok, so the tables aren’t always clean but the staff here is amazing! I’ve been coming to this place for years and believe me the staff is always hustling! They work hard to cut down your wait time. Try working in front of a deep fryer and a bunch of hot plates in a closed area! They work! Unfortunately, I’ve seen many times where the table is cleaned down by one of the employees and the next patron comes and leaves all their trash. Pick up after yourselves and maybe we can all have a good, clean and awesome spot!

When ever we go to Freemont street we always stop in here for the chi dog, fried Twinkies and a frozen beverage. The bartenders are always friendly, the one poured my friend the wrong beer and gave her both and charged her for one, they let you try the different flavored frozen drinks before you try them so you don’t end up with one you don’t like. The food place inside the casino always has a line because it’s so delish! They use Nathan hotdogs which is a must when it comes to hotdogs. The people taking the orders are not very polite they could take some lessons from the bartenders, they make you feel like you are bothering them and don’t ask any questions they get really annoyed. The attitude of the little food shack they have in the casino is why they didn’t get more stars. I never understood why have a people facing job if you don’t like people, and in a tourist town at that

This is by far my number one go-to place when I’m in Vegas, if only for an hour or two. As of the time of my last visit, this was the only casino I visited where you can still gamble with actual coins! There’s nothing quite like the thrill of the clattering sound of dozens and dozens of nickels pouring out of a slot machine!

Fried twinkies and fried Oreos!!! Do I need to say anything else? I think not! Ok, their hot dogs are pretty good. Tell the bartender that the drinks are weak and they’ll throw in more liquor…
