Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center

Love coming here! When friends or family are visiting, I make RR a must see for them. Depending who, I suggest a hike! A hidden gem in Las Vegas, more tourists should make a visit. The visitor center has gorgeous views from the panoramic Windows and is spotless inside! The staff always great you with a smile & are informative about RR Canyon. A couple of miles away is RR Casino & Hotel. Some nature & gambling and such! Something for everyone!

This place is first come, first serve. They have quite a few campsites, like 70. The bathrooms are kept impeccably clean and the campsites are very well organized and spacious. Has a great time here!!!

OUTSTANDING! A MUST GO if visiting Las Vegas. A special shout out to Lynn who was the person we spoke to about the hikes available. She recommended the Calico Tank hike. This hike is considered a «moderate» level difficulty. Moderate, if you are a 24 year old collegiate athlete but not moderate if you are a 61 year old ex collegiate athlete with balance issues. It was tough but worth it! The view at the top was INCREDIBLE!

The gift shop staff could use some training courses in customer service, especially the older Southern woman who apparently is missing the words «Hello,» «How are you?» and «Thank you» from her vocabulary. She asked for ID when my mother paid by credit card, but never looked at the name on the card and failed to notice (or point out) that my mother had put her thumb over her name and address (which she did on purpose!). This is why I hate shopping at stores that demand ID with every credit card transaction and why I personally refuse to show mine, ever. Fortunately, the gift shop does not detract from the experience that can be had at Red Rock Canyon. Take the scenic drive, enjoy the breathtaking scenery and skip the gift shop.

VERY resonable. Loved shopping here. Lots of information. We also got a coin made. It is located on the right as you walk in the doors. Its super cool! Not the penny rolling tupe coin but an actual pressed one already made.
They have alittle museum in there where you can see the artifacts and learn about the area.
A must for kids and adults of all ages.
Clean restrooms also.

I volunteer at the Visitor Center for Friends of Red Rock Canyon from time to time. It’s an interesting place and it’s a lot of fun to meet people visiting from many different places.
The VC is so much nicer and larger after the remake that opened a few years ago. There’s also a nice area outside with exhibits and the tortoise habitat.
Make your visit to Red Rock Canyon better and get some expret advice from volunteers like me.

Such a beautiful place!!! Vegas is all bout glitz and glam but coming here is relaxing and such a gorgeous site to see! My Dad has lived here since the 80’s and I actually just went here a few years ago.

Such a great activity to do away from the strip. It was such an amazing site to see and was really fun driving around and looking at nature’s finest! Just plain beautiful!

Red Rock Canyon has a lot of natural beauty and the visitor center doesn’t have much, but what they do have is great. It has a great gift shop as well that has stuff beyond the typical touristy trinkets. In general, it’s a great place to take a break from the hectic and exciting Las Vegas Strip.

Red rock is one of my favorite places on Earth and the visitors center lets you enjoy its beauty and learn a little bit more.

Great start to your Las Vegas vacation! If you love the outdoors, hiking, horseback riding or just driving to see the spectacular red rock formations come here.
The visitors center provides a quick start to your adventure. Information, maps, critters to see (both live and stuffed) and a cute little gift shop with lots of great trinkets.
A 13 mile road around the park lets you see it all with plenty of stops for picture time.
Free entrance and free yearly pass to all Natl Federal US parks for active duty military!
This should be your first stop after feasting on a buffet! Especially if you’re staying nearby (like the Red Rock Resort which is only a 10 minute drive from here).
My out of town guests loved it! Bring your camera!

If your looking to go out and are bored, go hike at Red Rock, I use to hike here every other day every week for training and conditioning. If your looking for relaxation, to get out, or actually hike Red Rock is where it’s at.
I recommend Turtle Head Peak for the best viewing spot, Calico Tanks which is in the same area as Turtle Head Peak, both have good views, but the highest one is Turtle Head Peak.
Very laid back environment just bring plenty of water for your day.

Stop here before you go on the 13-​mile scenic route. Trust me, it’s worth it.
And definitely a must stop if you have children with you as they can learn about the elements of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water on the nifty displays. Not to say that adults won’t enjoy it ’cause I definitely did!
You can also refill your water bottles here. Not sure if the fountain is broken or they really just have it running continuously.

What a gem of Las Vegas! Take a short drive out Charleston to see how beautiful the high desert is!
The visitor center was recently remodeled and is now such a fun and educational experience. The outdoor exhibit is really interesting and interactive. It is really neat if you are from a different environment. You can really learn about the desert here and appreciate it for what it’s worth. It is also a great thing to do with your kids. And my favorite, Mojave Max lives there in the outdoor tortoise habitat. If you get to see him, he is pretty cute! He is also a Vegas celebrity, kind of like Phil the groundhog is on the East coast.
You also want to stop here for practical reasons, a potty break! Once you are on the loop, you are on it for 13 miles and the bathrooms are far between and a little stinky, especially in the summer.

For $ 7 It’s worth every penny to take this 13 mile scenic drive. Or if you’re more outdoorsy plan to take a long hike. There are many trails and at different difficulty levels. This is where the desert visuals sing and where pictures will not do justice.
There are a multitude of hiking trails for every skillset and even picnic areas and overlooks where you can park and take a minute to soak in the landscape. The colors are amazing when the sun is setting. For the more adventurous, there are even areas to rock climb. Definitely next on my bucket list! When you start the drive you can enter the Visitor center and get a little history on the Canyon.
We visited in February and cannot wait until it warms up a little more and to get really close up! It just an 40 minute drive from the strip. Nature shines brighter then the lights of Vegas here!

This 13 mile one-​way loop offers 19 trails, a couple with its starting points at the south end of the loop, aka, the back end. Trails vary from easy to strenuous. Upon paying for entrance ($ 7/​day/​car or $ 30 annual), the rangers offer a map where the trails and capabilities are labeled. There is a smaller fee for bikes, just check their website.
Some of the most breathtaking views are from up top a cliff, thus you must put in the work to get there. The loop is a one-​way curvy road with many runners and bikers, so please share the road. There are restrooms (port-​a-​potty) at the start of most of the trails. The entire park is dog friendly, please pick up after your pet and dispose of properly. When the season permits there is a chance of seeing a small waterfall.
Late Fall and Early Spring weather allows for fantastic hiking. During the Summer it gets about 10 – 15 degrees warmer than in the city so hydrate well. For those wanting to picnic, there are designated picnic tables also labeled on the map. Always have a wonderful day when hiking at Red Rock Canyon is involved.

Love love love this place!!! I finally got a year pass and go as often as possible! Love the hikes, rock climbing and awesome scenery! Can’t think of a better place to take my dogs or hang out with my kids!

The remodeled center features indoor and outdoor exhibits that focus on the canyon and are relevant to both kids and adults. The gift shop is also worth checking out, and there is a small area for a rotating art exhibit.
