Love this food truck festival. I usually hold off on going to foodie fest and just save me duckets for this shindig. Really wish Hendo and vegas would hold more cool things such as this and be more friendly to the folks with food trucks. Love the variety they have at the event also the fact that it’s FREE unlike foodie fest. Usually have a large variety of food and snacks to choose from so makes it even more fun. It’s held at sunset park so you can enjoy a day at the park and grab some grub all in the same day. They usually have rides, entertainment and bands so it makes for quite the awesome day. I highly suggest you check this out for a fun time for the whole fam.

My first food truck festival experience was Saturday, and let me tell you, it was great! My husband(that never gets old!) and I were playing disc golf at Sunset early in the morning, and around 1:00pm, decided to walk over to curb our growing hunger. Morgan desperately wanted to try Cousins Maine Lobster, so we went there first. $ 14 for a lobster roll is a little steep, but man, oh man, it was worth it! Tons of lobster meat, delicious butter, tasty bread… the Connecticut Lobster roll was amazing. I was intrigued by the lobster ice cream, but they were sold out. We stopped by Slidin Thru for me, they’re an old favorite of mine, and I had my YaYa slider. not as awesome as I remembered, it was missing the tzasiki sauce, but the burger itself was seasoned well, and it tasted pretty good. The winner of the day, however, was Stripchezze. The Daddy on a Roll was the best thing I ate all day. Deep fried mac n cheese egg rolls with a kimchi dipping sauce… I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this was. Totally worth the $ 7, and there was a lot of food. The setup of the event was easy to navigate, and I LOVE that it isn’t an admission based event. Just walk in, and buy your food! I really can’t wait to do another one! Next time I’ll try some of the sweets trucks!

Not as good as it gets, but pretty close. Amazing food trucks, great weather, and the smell of fried gluttony in the air really made for a fun event. I actually came here twice, once during the day and once during the evening. During the day I played a little disc golf and cruised into the event looking for a snack. My foodie partner was in a time crunch, so we couldn’t really explore the event too much. We did a quick walk through and most of the spots I wanted to try had long lines, so we just went with Hot Diggity Dog. This food truck is perfect for the non-adventurous eater or kids; chicken fingers, fries and hot dogs. I ordered a polish dog with the works; onions, chili, sauerkraut, and relish. It was good, just like a basic ballpark hot dog nothing special. The chili was the highlight of the dog with that perfect hint of spice. During my second trip I was able to try TruckU Barbecue, Oming’s Kitchen, and Cousins Main Lobster. There wasn’t much food left by the time I made my second trip, so I’ll just focus on the best of the three, which was, TruckU. The Burnt End burrito was just amazing, tender burnt pieces, Oaxacan BBQ Aioli, Coleslaw, with Duck Fat Fries and Monterey Jack. This was the business and pretty much best thing I ate all day, plus it was huge! You totally get your money’s worth. The burnt burrito was the hit of the event. I talked to a few Unilocalers and this was the main item they brought up when I asked what they liked best. This should be a twice a year event, if it isn’t already.

So this is only the second food truck event that I have been to; however, this one blew the foodie fest at sunset station out of the water. Besides being the perfect day at a beautiful Park, the trucks provided some awesome flavors. Many of the same trucks from the foodie fest were here and with smaller crowds offered the opportunity to breath and make better choice of food besides which truck has the shortest line. Enjoyed all the live music and several activities that were offered by local businesses. Sunset Park’d was a very enjoyable event and look forward to next year.

They say that the third time’s the charm. This might be the case for Sunset Park’d. Although I’d actually gone to this half-year’s Great American Foodie Fest, I was eager to try several local food trucks at what might be referred to as the 3rd Annual Sunset Park’d event. Boasting a total of 33 food trucks this year, and with noticeably more attendees, this event has something for almost everyone. There are games scattered around the festival grounds, as well as a kids’ area with slides, rock climbing, and bubbles on water. There are also a few maps located on huge sandwich boards, which is a new thing and a nice touch for those who don’t feel like walking around the relatively small venue. My biggest complaint last year was about their web site( ) and other online presence. They improved this year by reliably posting all of the trucks on the Food Trucks web page this year. They also provided comprehensive info on non-food vendors, entertainment(including music, dancers, and the kids’ activities), some sort of VIP section w/alcohol tasting(didn’t bother looking into this but it was $ 10, whereas the event itself is still free). The web site also had details about something they’re piloting this year called«Tasting Dishes.» Only eight food trucks bought into this idea, and they only provided very simple if inexpensive food items. I don’t really see the point unless you’re bringing kids or flying solo at the event. You might as well split the food trucks’ menu items with your friends/family. I’ll stick to individual business places for detailed reviews, but most of the food trucks that I tried this year were awesome. I was a huge fan of Utah-based Waffle Love at the other food truck gathering, and their inclusion raised my probability of going from 90% to 100%. Their St. George truck again represented the waffle empire proudly in my book, and it’s a feather in Sunset Park’d’s cap to have this out-of-state food truck around. As for other businesses, Truck U BBQ had an awesome burnt ends«burrito,» Stripchezze brought it with their bacon jam in the Jam On It sandwich, and The Cookie Bar had some awesome baked treats, some involving alcohol. I was underwhelmed by Rolling Fusion, but that’s only one miss out of my busy afternoon. I’m again very happy that Sunset Park’d has brought together local food trucks in a free admission setting. Aside from this year’s questionable placement of tables/seats only at the far ends of the event area(nothing but grass and sand in the middle), I can only think of a better social media presence as an area of improvement for next year. And I do expect to see them once again next year.

What a beautiful day! No matter where you went today, if you were outside it was just a great day. Add in live music, food trucks, beer and other cocktails, and lots of people, children, dogs and a nice park and you have a winner! I got down here around 1:30 pm, in time for lunch… and after a quick stroll through the selections I went back for what I was looking for. Start with a BadAss iced coffee(out of Hawaii), then a lobster roll from Lobster Shack, then some chicken lumpia from Ihaw-Ihaw(you can find this truck daily at the UPS business at Warm Springs and Amigo). And that filled me up. I listened to the first two bands and both were rock n roll and entertaining during their 45 minute sets. It was nice to sit in the dormant bermuda grass and listen to the tunes while snacking. Impressive food truck show with lots of other activities like learning to paint, hawaiian dancing, and some shopping(a mobile boutique store??). Lines weren’t too bad, but a couple places sold out of a few items I was hoping to try. Pork belly tacos all gone made me sad :(

I had such a great time! This was waaay better than the foodie fest that was at the Linq parking lot. One, it was at a park and not a concrete parking lot. There appeared to be more food trucks and they had live bands performing. But enough of the comparisons… They had some really good food trucks! The first stop was at 50 Shades of Green. My friend got a yummy wedge salad for 7 bucks. Then I made a dash to Dole Whip and grabbed a yummy dole whip float(I believe that was 7 or 8 bucks as well). Then we ventured out Buldogis. I got the Angry dog and a side of classic fries. The Angry Dog had Spicy pork, bulgogi, asian slaw, diced jalapeño, fiery mayo. OH boy was that good! And last but not least was the StripCheeze food truck! My friend had the JAMONIT. I can’t remember what the heck was on it… but it was SUPERGOOD!!! So…the food was bomb. Location was great! Music was decent. And they had fun rides for the kiddos. Plus, they had a few vendor booths. Overall! I loved this food truck festival. I will def be going again!!! Love, love, love!!!
