The Power Plant

Fly by night is a compliment for this place! It used to be a thriving 24 Hour Fitness until rising rents shut it down. TPP came in and opened their doors in May. LOTS of promises of state of the art equipment, classes and «VIP» Lockeroom to the tune of $ 100.00 EXTRA per month above your regular dues. «But it includes free beverages & snacks.» that’s a LOT of Poweraide & granola bars! They sold us the full schtick, $ 25.00/mo dues and really pushed hard on the VIP lockeroom. Told us it was going to be THEE premier club in the Valley and rates would double the following week. We swallowed the well baited hook. When we signed up they promised an option on the website where we could pay our own membereship fees. Didn’t happen. They took my credit card number «to keep on file» and swore they’d NEVER run it. Against my better judgement and the voices in my head screaming «Nooo NOOOOOO DON’T DO IT!!!» I gave them my card and told them absolutely do NOT charge this card — I do not keep money in this accout to prevent CC fraud! The first month they debited $ 80.00 and $ 100.00 out of my account and I got hit with $ 70.00 in overdraft fees. Mind you, my membership is $ 25.00! After repeated calls to them, and their promises to refund my money and fees to the tune of $ 250.00, I’m STILL waiting 90 days later! There is a reason the 24HR people did not come back to this club — the equipment is horrible and sparse, no classes, the place is always empty, and in talking to other membes, they have been «accidentally» debiting other members debit and credit cards for hundreds of dollars too and have not refunded ANYONE! If you want a first class club for the kind of jack The Power Plant charges but don’t want to get jacked around — go join Summerland Fitness on W. Charleston by Red Rock. They are WELL worth the high dues!!! Stay the heck away from this shady group. I predict two things — this review will be taken down by them post haste, and they’ll be out of business by Thanksgiving and possibly arrested for credit card fraud!
