«Bad Unilocaler» is all I have to say when it comes to creating an events page and reviewing this UYE. Thanks Nelson for taking the initiative. Much appreciation goes out to everyone who came out last Friday. It was another grand night. Each passing day has granted us better weather. I would like to get another edition of this series together, but with all the birthdays, Nerdy Dancing II, and Halloween coming up, it is difficult to ask people to put aside more time. It was a fantastic night filled with much more food and drink than necessary, but that is how a Unilocal baller rolls. These events tend to bring out the culinary phenoms and this one in particular did not disappoint. I enjoyed tasting everybody’s contributions and gorged myself on more than I should have. I stuffed myself to almost max capacity and then saw Christina and Arvin W. come strolling in with portable kitchen. I gave in and mustered up needed room to put down the pork belly bao and fish taco. I won’t lie, it was well worth the pain. I would suffer through that again. Maybe we can do another one in November. To be safe, we will find a park with a fire pit.

I loved the TnT potluck! I never go out that direction except when I go my doctor once a year who keeps migrating northwest. We got there not too long after 6 to see Jade W. and David S. As cool peeps startling trickling in, Eric R. started pouring Jade’s pineapple mojito spritzer and we started munching on tostadas and my black bean-corn salsa. Jade also made fantastic ceviche with a side of avocados and limes. I ate a lot of this while we waited for Anthony M. to show up with charcoal. Then, David S. grilled marinated beef skewers, which he served with lettuce leaves, pickled carrots and daikon, crushed peanuts, and peanut sauce. Amazing! They were SO good, and I found out how simple the marinade is! Like Nelson Q. mentioned, mixing all of the food brought together tasted really good. I also tried Christina W.‘s and Arvin C.‘s bao, but with their fish meant for the fish taco instead of pork, with all of their yummy toppings(picked cucumber, scallion, hoisin). Nelson Q. made the most incredible rice pudding with these sopapilla shredded crisps as a topping, but I could eat them by themselves. He also made horchata! Sarah-Marie brought my fave thing ever, tres leches cake so I thoroughly enjoyed it! I had fun dragging my TSA-searched ice chest everywhere from home to work to the park. I got to see Anthony T., meet his friend Jessica, hang out with Tien N., help Tiffanie R. find her way to the park, chat with Sylvia Q., finally see Jieun L.‘s dog, and just have fun. Paolo D. was there too! What a group. There are probably a lot more people that I am missing, most likely because I was high on life. Thanks David S. and creators of all yummy potluck items for a great event! PS-lots of hot sauce in large jars! whoa!

Unilocalers gathered at the beautiful Centennial Hills Park(Or shall I say WAAAAAAY up in Centennial Hills for those who bitch and moan about the distance?) for David S’. latest installment in the Unilocal Potluck series, which included a «Tacos and Tequila» theme, but food choices were more like anything goes. This was a very spacious, well-lit venue, and we were also thrilled to see that the outlets were working! We were able to listen to some tunes as well, also enjoying that this was a rather cool night without intense heat. David made some killer Vietnamese Lettuce Wraps, I combined Jade and Lisa’s contributions and the Ceviche Tostada with Blackbean-Corn Salsa was some tasty stuff! Tien’s Asian-inspired carnitas were grub too. LJ came with a rotisserie chicken, Tiffanie brought some Baja Fresh action, and Christina & Arvin brought everything but the kitchen sink with their Pork Belly Bao and Fish Tacos Refreshments were plentiful-Water, Ice, Soft Drinks, Tequilas were provided by Anthony T. and Anthony M… Jade also made a Pineapple Mojito, and my Horchata hit the spot and with the addition of Paolo’s Patron XO Coffee liquor, made it even better!(AKA White Russian’s friend, Mexicana Blanca.;) Amanda’s Snickerdoodles were a hit as was the tres leches cakes provided by Sarah-Marie, and My Arroz Con Leche concluded our selection of sweets. As always, a great time with food, friends, and fun. Mahalo David for hosting, and looking forward to the next potluck… ALOHA!!!
