uye’s at goyemon are not to be missed… especially when nelson and sylvia are hosting. we sat at the very inside end of our table, didn’t have to order anything and food just magically appeared. you guessed it, we were sitting at nelson and sylvia’s table. it’s really the only way to go. i don’t know if it was because of the fantastic conversation between friends or because we were all waiting for ramen time(11:00pm) to roll around but we managed to stay for more than 3 hours! we definitely ate to our tummy’s and heart’s content. pure gluttony at the gluttonfest!

What other person can plan an event where everyone shows up extremely eager to start chowing down and toward the end nearly completely miserable at our own individual accomplishments along with a sense of wonder at Nelson still ordering more?

Thanks BIG time for Nelson Q setting up Udon Throwdown and Gluttonfest! It was my first UYE and too be part of Nelson Q event LOT of FUN! Too get the private room made the event that much more good times with fellow Unilocalers. A room that I never knew had but then again only my second time at Goyeman. Certainly not be my last because going throw just about the whole menu. Plus ending our food nirvana with Ramen(once again mahalo Nelson Q inside scoops) and green tea ice cream. I have no idea how did it or any of my fellow Unilocalers. Talk about taking some sushi going down think we made all Unilocalers proud going three hours strong! All the grill specials was really good something I never had the last time. They change from day too day. The service was awesome! It not often get big party most part all separate checks but never problem and taking mass orders at time and always with smile.

Another succesful event hosted by none other Nelson Q. Always love going to his events. Although after this one, I won’t be eating sushi for a while cause we all ate ourselves into a coma! Excellent sushi with a variety of specials. Great service, great food, and a nice VIP room. Had the opportunity to try their ramen bowl(which I never knew they had) and it was actually pretty good. If you get the chance, come out to one of Nelson’s UYE’s. It’s always nice to meet new people. You won’t regret!

Big Mahalo to everyone in attendance last night! As always, a great time with the usual suspects as well as new faces. A few flakes here and there, but it didn’t put a damper on things, the 15 of us got down and KILLEDIT! There was a 3-way tie for the Udonmeister title with Anthony T., Wifey, and Jen S. with one bowl a piece. Throughout the night, We were taken Care of by Yuki, Som, and the rest of the Goyemon service staff. Checks were split, tea and other beverages were kept full, and orders were filled as quickly as possible by the sushi chefs which seemed to be the newer faces behind the sushi bar. We did some major damage with massive amounts of salmon belly, conch, uni, amaebi, hamachi jalapeño, ikura, maguro, hotate, unagi, and it continued with side orders galore-Deep fried amaebi heads, spicy tuna rice cracker, baked mussels, fried calamari, karaage chicken, mixed veggie tempura, crack bacon(AKA Grilled Pork Belly) and a few spider hand rolls and of course, some mahalo roll with sweet tamago added cause we can’t have a gluttonfest without SPAM! Before you know it, the 11 o’ clock hour arrived, and we ordered a total of 11 bowls of Shoyu Ramen which hit the spot. By this time, multiple tables had been turned, the dining room and sushi bar was still full, and gang of hungry people were waiting to be seated including some of the cast from Zarkana. We were ready for dessert and killed cups of chocolate mousse, and multiple scoops of lychee sorbet, azuki bean, and green tea ice cream. We also broke our record staying for a total of 3 hours in the tatami room. What wil the next episode hold? We shall see… ALOHA!!!
