I was deciding between pizza or Indian food and figured why not check this place out. I walked straight to the back and looked at the menu which has a lot of great food to choose from. I ordered the chicken tika and vegetable samosas, it took about 15 minutes because it was made fresh. I walked around the store in the mean time, they had a lot of spices that were very affordable that you can’t get many places. They also had a decent sized section of frozen foods, snacks, vegetables, and dairy/eggs. I will be going back to buy spices as well as trying the other dishes. Can’t wait! **Update 4/6/16** had the chicken palaak with naan… phenomenal. So good.

Really delicious and quite inexpensive. We eat a meal there and bring back more dishes to eat at home. The food is wonderful. If you love Indian/Pakistani food you need to eat here.

Family owned joint with personal service and friendly staff. Excellent biryani, karahi, and the best naan I’ve ever had.

The Bihari Chicken in the grill is worth coming back for. Again, and again! The entire store is one of the cleanest ethnic grocery stores I’ve seen. The staff is extremely friendly and will even go as far as ordering something for you that isn’t available in the store yet. Though the odds of that are slim. This store literally has everything you’ll need!

Excellent chicken biryani and chicken tandoori ! We picked up food from here on our way back to NJ on a friend’s recommendation and man we were not disappointed even a bit ! It’s a grocery store and their kitchen is located at the end of the store. The food is made fresh to order. The service is quick and staff is friendly . We will definitely return when we visit Saratoga springs area again !

This is a great place to pick up asian ingredients. Where else am I going to get my ghee, paratha and hing? They have great prices on the dried beans and produce. Nothing fancy, but if you want a bag of onions it’s cheaper here than at sam’s club. Also, they have a reward program now. So I’ll probably be going back even more often. Also, if you haven’t tried the restaurant in the back you’re missing out. Order it for pick up. Sooo good.

Dropped by this market on a whim to pick up some mustard oil and a few other south asian pantry staples. First of all, I’m glad there’s a store like Duniya in Latham. It’s a convenient place to swing by for ingredients when I can’t make it to Parivar. Duniya has a good selection of the basics. I spotted a lot of rice, lentils and breads to choose from. The vegetable section seemed pretty sparse and not very fresh. The refrigerated section had an interesting assortment of items, from halal pre-packaged meats to labneh. I was able to find one of my favorite yogurt drinks, Ayran, which isn’t available everywhere. I also picked up a package of phyllo dough sheets for a reasonable price. I had some trouble locating the mustard oil I came into the store for-they only sold a couple of varieties of it, and one of the bottles had mustard«essence». No good. I finally tracked down a small bottle in a different aisle. As I was roaming around I spotted lots of condiments, pickles and snacks, but everything seemed a bit overpriced in my opinion. There is a grill area in the back but I didn’t check it out.

Not sure how to delete this review. Original review was meant for Latham Biryani for which I have five stars.

I appear there EVERY Thursday morning as the fresh veggies arrive the night before but they are closed then. Veggy selections are limited. The selection of rice and breads is expansive. The prices are the fairest you will ever find. Take-out food is available in the back of the store.

I’m from Long Island, so to say the least, my standards for South Asian groceries are pretty high. My hometown is surrounded by plenty of amazing South Asian grocery stores and restaurants, so when I came to Albany for school I was distraught that there was nothing like what I could find at home. I would have to rely on my mom sending me spices and home-cooked food when I got homesick. When Duniya opened in 2012 and the restaurant in 2013, I was reluctant to try it after many subpar experiences at other grocery stores and restaurants in the Capital Region. I made the track out to Latham and was pleasantly surprised at the wide selection of items they had. Not only did they have any Indian or Pakistani grocery item I would want, but they also had a wide selection of Middle Eastern spices, cookies, and teas – something that’s even hard to find on some parts of Long Island. The vegetables were fresh and the variety in items endless – it was like a snapshot of one of the many South Asian grocery stories close to home. I’m very picky about Indian/Pakistani restaurants – I like my food very authentic and spicy. The chicken tandoori, behari kebabs, and naan was perfect, with spicy factor increased upon request. I exclusively only come here when I need just a little taste of home, whether it be by a fresh vegetable, spice, or plate of boneless chicken tikka! The thing I also like about the restaurant is that it’s fast service and good quality– no need to sit down at a fancy restaurant to have a good meal!

Sorry, this place sells a lot of expired stuff. I have given it enough chances, i am not coming back. And about the grille, the less talked about the better. Overpriced for the quality they provide and excessively greasy, bland food.

Food is good and yes I would go there myself and recommend others too. but they seriously need to take care of the disgusting smell of bleach. It just chokes you up. I will rather do a take out.

Couldn’t stay — at all. A coworker and I wanted to have lunch here because of the Unilocal reviews and photos. The café area didn’t look anything like the photo — tables and chairs were all askew. The dominant, overwhelming smell of bleach throughout the business drove us out. I still have a sore throat, and my coworker coughed for a good ten minutes after leaving. Very irritating. While I have no doubt the place is clean and germ-free, the bleach smell was horrible — a real turnoff.

I’ve been coming here for Pakistani/Indian groceries for a while and its great and reasonably priced. They have a butcher as well(Halal). Additionally they have some middle eastern groceries in the back. The best thing about this place though is the food in the back. The best Biryani in the capital District region hands down! Behari Chicken is great too.

We needed some spices to make a mulligatawny soup and were in the vicinity of Latham. I had stopped into Duniya once before when they first opened to simply look around. It is a good sized store with many fresh vegetables that I didn’t recognize, and some that I did. There are also plenty of imported canned and prepared products and spices. There is an area in back where I saw chickens being butchered, and they even have some tables and a counter in the back where items are cooked to order. I didn’t have a chance to look for a menu but it can be found online with Indian and Pakistani dishes. Overall, the place is very clean and orderly with many items for Middle Eastern and Asian cooking. My wife found the spices, vegetables and fresh ginger she needed and exclaimed at how reasonable the prices were. The only surprise was that there was no aroma of all the spices you typically smell when entering one of these ethnic markets. I could argue either way that this was a good thing or a disappointment. You might want to check this place out. We’ll be returning. Note: The grocery store is open Everyday. The Grill is closed on Monday.

Duniya is a one stop shop for all your Pakistani/Indian food needs — best in the area hands down! They are progressive with how they do business, unlike most«desi/halal grocery» places in NY, which is why they put emphasis on service and biggest of all convenience for the customer. The store is laid out openly and is spacious, despite the wide variety of products(which btw are priced very reasonably). So you don’t bump your shopping cart into other customers as much! It’s always kept clean and doesn’t smell bad either — another thing that sets it apart from other stores in the area. The meat is clean and packaged and labelled nicely(usually with printed stickers) for you as well. And if all that isn’t enough, they’ve got a decent food café towards the back. «Duniya Biryani» is becoming a local speciality. But if you’re not into rice, their unique Chicken Behari Kabab goes great with their Naan, which are actually prepared as if the chef cares for the quality. The location is great too. Hardly a minute off the highway and on Route 9 in Latham. Goes to show that they really kept customer convenience the top priority when setting up!
