Amazing food and very cool atmosphere. They have whole belly clams — unheard of in upstate NY! The best lobster roll I’ve ever had as well — just a great spot!

Looks like Captain Hook has got me hooked! Okay, Hook(ed) may not be an evil pirate, but Hook(ed) is rather serious and knows how to lure in seafood lovers. The market on the left side carries some stellar seafood: malpeque oysters, mahi mahi, tilefish, halibut, fluke, swordfish, faroe island salmon, and more. The middle section includes frozen/refrigerated prepared food items for those who wish to reheat or rebake at home for convenience sake. But the far right is where all the action is! Choose from a «build your own» section(vessel, protein, toppings, + sauces) or signature menu items(fish and chips, whole belly clams, lobster roll, crab cakes, or sweet potato salmon burger). The menu items come with a choice of side salad. My dining partner and I chose to devour the $ 16 hot lobster roll(+$ 1 more than cold roll) with brown butter vinaigrette and scallions… the competition is on! Served on a warm, buttery, + toasted roll, the lobster meat was succulent and I thought that there would be no better presentation. Alongside my choice of broccoli salad, it was more than indulgent as a lobster lover… almost like the salad was the lobster’s best friend. Anyway, don’t miss out on all the great deals Hook(ed) offers. I know I’m coming back for more.

Absolutely wonderful! They have both take out/eat-in menu as well as fresh fish to take home. A true fish monger. We had the blackened grouper poboy, sweet potato salmon burger, and the fish and chips. The blackened grouper was the star of the meal but the fish and chips was excellent. A proper portion of a hand battered, fresh piece of haddock is head and shoulders above a traditional fish fry piece of haddock. I will review the other stands when they are up and running and Innovo Kitchen is also wonderful in this remodeled plaza.

The chef at Hooked is some sort of magician. She turned something you’d expect to be a bland, boring, zero excitement meal, into exquisite euphoria: Fish and Chips. I had the fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce, broccoli salad, and french fries, I watched, as a fresh fillet of haddock was taken from the display freezer and cut into large, succulent portions, It was breaded, and placed into the fryer. That’s not supposed to result in something that once you take a bite, transports you to a higher plane, making you forget who and where you are. But that’s what happened. There is no self, there is no time, there is only heavenly bliss, in the form of a tasty morsel, melting in your mouth. Henceforth, whenever I eat fried fish, it will forever be compared to the experience i was given at Hooked Seafood. I will be returning to sample the rest of the menu, and if anything else is even 1⁄10th as good as the fish and chips, it’ll be amazing. BRAVO, Hooked seafood. Bravo. And UPDATE: They now accept bitcoin!

Hooked is located in «Galleria 7» in the new-ish strip mall at the corner of Vly Rd and Rt 7. Right now Hooked is the first to set up shop in that space, which will be a food court of sorts, and I could see a wood fired pizza restaurant that’s still under construction and it appears that several other vendors have reserved spaces to be built out in the future. The menu is divided up into two sections. One side is devoted to sandwiches – lobster roll, fish fry etc. – the other, a Chipotle style build your own, with various choices.(See the photo I posted of the menu.) I opted to go taco style, and choose corn tortilla, scallops, cucumber, red onion, pickled veggies, and red wine vinaigrette. You also to get to choose a side, and I chose broccoli salad. I also had a cup of their soup. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and they were tender and flavorful. The fillings all were very fresh. The only negative was the tortilla, they doubled them up, and I found them to be a little bland and dry for my taste. Next time I’ll opt for the po’ boy roll. The broccoli salad was excellent. Mayo based with red onion, craisins, and walnuts. They used a light hand with the mayo, and it was just enough. I loved it, and bought a small tub to go home with me. They had two soups available, a swordfish minestrone, and shrimp corn chowder. I went for the corn chowder and it was phenomenal. Tiny bay shrimp, an ample amount of corn, big chunks of red potato, bacon, and diced onion and celery. The broth was loaded with flavor and wasn’t thick or gloppy, it was brothy but with body. I could eat gallons of the stuff, and it was so good, I took a tub of that home with me too. :) They also have fresh fish for sale and I saw more than a dozen different varieties available when I was there, including whole branzino, and some beautiful looking Chilean sea bass. They also have both fresh and frozen shellfish as well as some prepared dishes and sides(such as the broccoli salad).
