NEWTON WINE & SPIRITS

Though the name of this place might be «Newton Wine and Spirits», I call it «Fatman Creepers». That’s because there’s a large man who works here that likes to stare and make awkward comments towards the female shoppers.
At first I was skeptical when I heard about the way he acts around women but after witnessing it firsthand numerous times, there is no doubt left in my mind; he is the «Fatman Creeper». If I’m put off by the things he says and the way he acts and I’m a guy, I can’t imagine how the females feel.
About the winestore, the rest of the staff are very amiable and often point me in the direction of good deals and wines I haven’t tried before. The selection in the store is small but well stocked with a nice variety and is an otherwise comfortable place to shop (soft lighting, nice furniture, well decorated, music, etc).
The prices are probably $ 2 – 3 more for certain items than the bigger stores but they do have a club you can join to earn points that convert to store credit… also, a price reduction is given if you buy in bulk.
Really this is just a nice neighborhood wine store, if there wasn’t a fatman creeper lurking here; I would have to give this establishment a 4 star rating.

I love wine. I’ve been learning and trying different types for years now. Sadly there’s an issue when shopping for wine. All the stores around here seem to carry the same things. Obviously you’re going to have overlap… but it’s to the point where many stores around don’t even have any individual flair or identity. That is not the case with Newton Wine.
The owners here pay attention to wine. Though they have all the staples and crowd pleasers like their competitors, they have so much more. This isn’t a massive store, but they manage to work in trending and small batch wines that I simply can’t find and haven’t seen in other stores in the 518.
Prices here fit the area, but the owners have a really awesome case rate program where if you buy a case you get a different price on each bottle of wine. This can save a 1 – 6 dollars per bottle which makes a big difference when you’re buying 12. They also have a great selection of spirits as well
Additionally they have a nice website which offers both shipping and in store pickup. There are other places where you can get your generic options for a little less, but it’s the hand picked gems that you should look for here.

I come here for the spirits, not the wine. The selection is very good, the prices are competitive, and the staff friendly. I’ve been here many times and will be back many more.
