I ordered the Chilean sea bass and i’m no expert on fish but I believe I received regular sea bass. Chilean sea bass is alot tender and should melt in your mouth. The drinks were horrible and when I asked for another type of drink, it was just as bad. My wifes food was good but just the inconsistency.

A great place to eat but is very pricey!!! The service wasn’t the best either. My boyfriend was on crutches so I went in and asked if it was okay if we just sat outside till the waitress came and the woman I spoke with said«I don’t know im busy» and walked away. She was a short blonde that should be fired you don’t speak to customers that way. Be prepared to spend at least $ 40 for two good entrees! But if you go during happy hour 5 to 7 drinks and only a few appetizers are half off!(But we did see a place right down the block that was half price too but was cheaper then here! Athena something it’s called) I got the taco flat bread and it was really good and huge! I couldn’t finish it all! I got the strawberry daiquiri which was really good too. If you don’t have a big budget go up the street to the Aruba beach café(we prefer it better) Plus it’s right on the beach!!!

The best hostess sweet and accommodating is Steph. Great location a block from the beach outdoor and indoor sitting. Great variety of American food, seafood and pasta. Javier the waiter was very polite! Full bar, good wine selection. Tv all around the large bar if you care for sports! It’s a must visit in Lauderdale by the sea!

We usually go here if we’re looking for a relaxing bar environment and a snack/appetizers. The food is ok; not great and not horrible. We’ve only sat at the bar and device has always been good there. Today, I had the mezi plate and the cucumber sangria. The sangria was refreshing and not too sweet, which is how I like it. The mezi plate had a small sample(about two spoonfuls each) of spicy feta, baba ganoush, Tzatziki sauce and hummus. The spicy feta spread definitely had a kick to it, but was good. The baba ganoush had good flavor but was very runny. The tzatziki sauce was my least favorite and tasted like sour cream. The hummus was good; but, had a strong cumin flavor. The best part of this place is sitting at the bar. It’s indoor; however, the openness allows you to feel like your outside. There’s a good mix of locals and tourists here.

Wow I just had the worst experience here. My husband and I have been coming here for a number of years while vacationing. One of the servers(very short lots of tattoos glasses driving a white jeep, with a handicap sticker) didn’t like how I parked. He was laughing pointing at my car engaging all the wait staff in a negative conversation about a paying customer. I was so humiliated by this little young man I will never go back to this place !!!

Nasty hostess and manager! We live close by and go out on the town with friends every weekend but won’t be going there! Poor customer care, rude, pass it on! The manager went as far as to say that the owner’s wife was at the bar and she didn’t care if they lost business… all because we asked for an extra chair for a friend who joined us! The waiter told us that the manager and the hostess are in a relationship. That’s why the manager backs her up when she mistreats the customers. Not coming back, passing it on!

I always told my friends«the food is nice but the service is usually terrible, so if you expect it you won’t be as upset» The last few times coming over were just too much. The issue is managment, the place is just poorly run. There’s so much potential in this property it’s a shame it’s such a headache dining here. My advice, try one of the other restaurants in the area. The other reviews on Unilocal aren’t lying, the service, sadly, really is that bad :(

Sat at high top by bar. Had a couple of Arnold Palmers(ice tea and lemonade mixed) . We both had the Philly Cheese steak. Lots of onions. The bread was soooo bready. To much for the amount of meat in sandwich. But the flavor was good. I wouldn’t pretend. It again but I would definitely go back. Can’t beat the scean.

What happened to this place After 2years of really enjoying their Atmosphere and food it finally seems to have jumped the shark I had been a big fan as I used this place as a go to spot to recommend to family friends and clients Wait staff stopped listening to how you would like your food prepared and now the servers deliver the food not knowing who ordered what while literally dumping the plates on the table with an Aggressive attitude I’m very sorry to say my go to spot May just have become the spot to avoid

We are locals and dine here every other Friday. Food is consistent… we go for the Asian chicken wings and fish tacos. Service is variable, their servers appear to change often. Tonight something was off. We waited 75 minutes for a table outside, when the estimate was 45 minutes — not ideal, but not the end of the world because they were busy. When we checked in to get our table, our hostess told us people sat there without putting their name on the list. She asked us to sit tight while she asked them to move. Once she visited their table, she came back to say they were rude and refused to move because they had paid for drinks from their bar earlier(just about everyone nearby could say the same), so she’d get her manager to help. We saw her talk to the manager, who escaped the hostess stand in a hurry and she asked us to wait for the next table because he didn’t want to request they move. Advice to diners — why wait for a table on busy weekend nights?! Just sit down, chances are slim they’ll boot you out. We ended up sitting at one of the folding tables in the parking lot, totally not worth the wait.

I really enjoyed this place. The service was reasonably good, the food was very good, and the cocktails were pretty good(for southern Florida). I loved the versatility of the chef as demonstrated by the myriad of items on the menu and the excellent execution by the kitchen staff. It’s also very close to the Galt mile in Ft Lauderdale so the ocean view outside is superb.

I gave this restaurant 4 stars last year, that yummy salad with steak, has shrunk and contains a tiny amount of beef, basically a $ 16.00 bowl of lettuce and not even a crust of bread to go with it. The pizza with clams was a little light on the clams and a bit doughy, but better than the salad, and very welcome, since the salad left you hungry and dissatisfied. We did have dinner during happy hour, which added value to the meal, and the waiter was terrific, but still, we came to eat, and 101 has gone way down hill in that area, the 3 stars is for service and happy hour value.

Live in the local area, stopped by to grab a small bite. Ordered the griddle cheese sandwich(similar to an adult style grilled cheese /bacon, avocado, three types of cheese). WORST thing I have ever had. A child could have cooked a better grilled cheese. The bread was buttered but never grilled and the cheese stuck out of the sides like they placed in on there right before they sent it out. Needless to say, I want be coming back in this life time. How do you mess up such a simple meal?

Excellent beer list, bottle & draft. Sat at the bar, JD was fantastic. Bar seating area was a little dirty — counter & under the counter near the seating area(open air to street and beach, so may just be normal). Beer was great. But the flatbread I ordered made me sad. Short rib, mashed potato, bacon, cheese, chives, and a sour cream sauce. It sounded so good. The short rib bits were fatty and had no taste. I ended up scraping them off. Once that happened, it was quite tasty. But at $ 14…shouldn’t have to do that. Had to choose between the local places on the beach and this was a fine selection. I’ll be back for the service and beer. Next time, I’ll stick with their Mezza plate, that was quite good last time.

My wife and I showed up during happy hour(5 – 7) and I’m glad we did! Drinks were half price and a few of the appetizers were reduced. We ended up splitting a pizza(4 cheese) and the lasagna. Both were delicious but the pizza was definitely the tastier of the two. We sat outside and took in the warm ocean breeze. We are not from south Florida but love to come here whenever we visit.

I’ve never given an unfavorable review for a restaurant until now. Service did not exist person just took our order. Food was not worth what we paid for it. Frozen calamari, sticky rice was not fresh. pizza was cold. No one asked why we didn’t eat a thing. I’ve own restaurants. I will not go back to this one.

Horrible dinner experience! 30min for calamari! 3 tables sat after us is of us got there entrees still nothing. Waitress had the nerve to say we are in season! Really season means you make money no excuses and she fails to remember that locals pay your bills when it’s not season. After sitting check down she had the gaul to act like a Bitch!!! Yes I mean what I said, Jessica apparently needs a refresher on customer service skills! Oh yeah she brought ketchup when I order they shrimp enchiladas! Last time I had enchiladas I never needed ketchup.

Perfect location and good food. The bartenders are friendly and they have a good bar area. Super casual(can hang out in your bathing suit at the bar). The crab cakes are good and the drinks are always strong. Great spot to have lunch or dinner at if Aruba Beach cant take you or your at the beach.

Weekend Happy Hour!!! Once Again I am visting from NC… Weekend Happy hours unheard of. Needless to say I am falling in love with Fort Lauderdale. I love this restaurant! Within walking distace of the Beach, I can see why everyone flocks here… the at atmosphere here is somewhat casual. The staff is very accommodating… i love how the bar sits close to the sidewalk. The Drinks are refreshing and a great price. We visited on a Saturday during their 5pm HAPPYHOUR. All cocktails were half off with select appetizers. We started with the Spinach and Crab Dip: which was AMAZING!!! Spinach and Artichokes are my Favorite! We literally cleaned the bowl lol. Of course I had to get a signature cocktail(half off duh) I ordered 2… The BlueBerry Lemon Drop: watch out! The blueberry Vodka will sneak up! My Second cocktail was The Pomegranate which changed my life seriously lol. The prices are very reasonable…$ 8 Cocktails for $ 4 each… not a bad deal. I look forward to visiting this place next time I visit Fort Lauderdale

Definitely seemed like a sports Bar. The TVs were VERY loud throughout the entire place. Fantastic beer list. Around 50 beers available(most bottled) The service was very fast, almost a little rushed. Food was typical sports bar /pub type food. Our meals were very nice. If you want to have conversation at the dinner table probably not the best place to stop. If you want to sit and watch the game and have a few drinks it would be perfect.

Wanted to introduce my nephews and niece to the beautiful restaurant scene that is so close to my home in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and using Unilocal as a resource we all agreed that 101 Ocean seemed to be a pretty safe venue; all of us originally hailing from the Midwest — we knew we wanted to tuck into some yummy seafood. 101 Ocean does NOT disappoint — what a refreshing menu of fresh delectable treasures of the sea. The nephews did the gamut from slices of pizza(pretty ample and a good choice for youngsters) to a huge-o-rama platter of fresh peel & eat shrimp that was as eye appealing and yummy tasting as anything you could get at a top drawer restaurant such as Capital Grille, Mortons or Smith & Wollensky. Niece and I downed some scrumptious oysters, succulent calamari and while I opted for English style fish & chips she went for the pricey — but worth every penny sumptuous scallops that were undoubtedly a signature dish of the house. Afternoon Sunday brunch rewarded us with unlimited Mimosas(for an additional $ 12 — very reasonable) and this was not your simple thimble flute — a nice wine glass topped off with a very nice brand of champagne; no headaches or dry mouth here! Probably the best thing in addition to the food and flavor was the staff; what accommodating gracious waiters, servers, waitresses and management. When told it was my birthday week they brought a lovely treat to the table; candle and all — and even before that — since we had made reservations, they had a perfect mid-center table for our party that made me feel total VIP — which is why I’ll get another group of people together to come back!

We came here on our last night and not to let you wait. It was perfect. We came during the Happy Hour, so our cocktails were half price. When we were checking out the menu our waiter came by while he was serving the other table, to show us the scallops. He totally recommended these. So I gave it a try and damn was that good. The crispy cover, bit spicy, the asparagus and the purée. There was a sweet red sauce served with it which was the perfect match for the scallops. Our neighbor table was curious after all and ordered the same dish. Even if the dish was a bit pricey, it was totally worth it.

For our last dinner, with having family from out of town staying in Lauderdale by the Sea they passed by 101 while out on a morning stroll. Since having been here a few times previously we decided we would have dinner here. We were sat and greeted by our server Heather, not the most welcoming but her attitude improved after the ordering process was over. Being the first time sitting in the dining room it felt to be a bit dirty and stale. We could smell the bar from where we were sitting. Not a good first sign. I would advise you sit outside or at the bar closest to the open air walls. Happy hour is from 5−7pm Monday-Friday with ½ price drinks and select appetizers are $ 7. Their Craft Beer selection is very large but most consisting of bottled brews. They also have a cocktail and wine menu that look pretty good! Their food menu is quite large with a good selection of different items for everyone in your group or if you are being indecisive! I decided on the Fresh Mahi Sandwich and my husband ordered the Thai Chicken Pizza. Neither one of us were very fond of our meals, my Mahi was fishy tasting and the fries were under seasoned and hard. The Thai Chicken Pizza was very doughy and just not very flavorful; too much cheese. In the past we have had their Crispy Asian Wings and they were quite good but on this visit none of the food stood out or would make me want to go back for dinner. Nevertheless this is a great spot for drinks and maybe an appetizer right off the beach! **Their outdoor patio is extremely pup friendly!

Went on a Friday night to check this place out. Food was decent, roasted salmon was moist and delicate, but lacked flavor. The pine nut Parmesan orzo was really, really good! The calimari appetizer was tasty, cooked well, not rubbery. The sweet chili sauce was awesome! My girlfriend had the chicken pomodoro with grilled chicken. The pomodoro sauce was lacking any flavor other than tomato(Pomodoro is not a tomato based sauce). Drinks were good, not over priced like I expected! But I recommend ordering from a waitress or server, the bar staff was SUPERSLOW! Our server was very friendly, pleasant, and took very good care of us. I’d go back.

Returned to one of my favorite spots in town for a cocktail and dinner al fresco. The atmosphere was festive as a live band played and people, kids, and pups enjoyed the sights, sounds, and flavours of a Saturday night in LBTS. I ordered a blueberry basil margarita, and my date enjoyed a frozen mojito. I had a sip of the mojito and it was delicious, but as my guest admitted it was syrupy and not the authentic mash of fresh mint that’s in the real thing. The lobster ravioli were covered in alfredo, and quite sumptuous. My grouper was a perfectly sized portion and a dish on the sweeter side(and much to my liking!) with a plantain crust and vanilla rum sauce over mashed sweet potatoes and a few asparagus spears. Flavorful and filling, the texture and taste of this plate made it good to the last bite. Friendly, unpretentious service in a modern spot that suits every mood. TVs, corner bar, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Salads, flatbreads, pizzas, steaks, seafood, music, beer, wine, and full liquor bar. Happy Hour. Weekend specials offering unlimited mimosas. Raw bar. Highly recommended.

I’m really happy to have this restaurant as my first review of 2015. Why? Well, the food was a lot better than I expected. The staff is super polite. I came for brunch and they told me what they offered(quiche or frittata of the day, breakfast burrito, and a Benedict). None of those sparked my fancy, so they kindly suggested a few places nearby(which really delightfully surprised me). I scoped those out and found that I’d prefer to stay and try 101 Ocean. A lot of the restaurants in the area are dog friendly, this one included, so we sat outside. I ordered the chicken sandwich with apple wood smoked bacon, arugula, provolone, and rosemary thyme mayonnaise on a brioche bun with french fries and coleslaw. I always have this tiny voice in the back of my head saying, «don’t order that chicken sandwich, it’s going to come out super dry and tasteless.» This time I am so glad I didn’t listen. This was perfectly cooked, juicy and well seasoned chicken with greasy, salty, crunchy bacon and exquisitely melted provolone. It was the perfect compliment to the sweet and soft brioche bun. The french fries were crispy and under seasoned(nothing a little salt and pepper didn’t fix). The coleslaw was sweet and really soggy. My only reason for the«A-okay» review is that the service was slow. Everyone was super polite but I couldn’t believe how long it took for the food to come out, for the bill to come(after we requested it), the to-go box to come out, for the server to come and pick up the cash(I actually had to grab them before they disappeared again). But with how good the food was, I will be coming back, and my husband is very intrigued by some menu items as well.
