The food there is average. Used to be good. The service is typical for Jamaicans(yes I’m Jamaican) slow, and impersonal.

Been going here since I was a little girl, and my parents before I was even born. Authentic Jamaican food. Love their lunch specials, and their daily soups are always delicious-my favorites are the cup of goat or pea soup. And the plantains! Whenever I leave the area for a while, I crave them. Breakfast is pretty delicious but average with portion size which is expected because ackee and saltfish is expensive alone, but overall WONDERFUL place. Recently renovated and great atmosphere. This is the only location I’ve ever been to so I cannot comment on the Pembroke Pines location but I know this location is good to me unlike Donnas or Dutch pot that are always skimpy on portion size to me and sometimes lack flavorful food for some reason.

Food taste good but they always put more bones than meat in Your order. Also the wait is sooo long and customer service is terrible. Its not worth your money.

It was good, but it was hardly anything to write a Unilocal review about. A co-worker of mine is from the Ft Lauderdale area and has Jamaican roots, so he suggested that we try this place and stated that when he goes home to visit, he stops by here to bring some food back home with him. We ventured out to the area to get away from the touristy hotel restaurant areas, which was about a 20 minute mile from the beach. The restaurant had a good 20 people either eating or waiting for food when we go there, so that made me feel like it was going to be a great experience. As I approached the counter, a guy couldn’t make up his mind what he wanted to order and I took the feeling he must have been going back and forth for a while because the lady taking orders and ringing people up gave him a couple of eye rolls and then asked me how she could help me and don’t you know that spurred him into a decision and she finished him out. We ordered the ox tails and the brown stewed chicken. The oxtails were good. I had the steamed vegetable to go with and they were bland, but I like the way the mixture was shredded together and more like a steamed veggie slaw than actual vegetables. I ate the one plantain that came with the meal so fast and was disappointed that only one came with the meal. My traveling companion ate the stewed chicken and when I asked him how it was, he said, it was alright, but he couldn’t see anyone making a special trip there. The menu board says it the Worlds Famous or Award winning or something like that Brown Stew Chicken. I can’t remember the exact wording, but when he ordered it, he asked her, hey your sign says blah blah blah is it really good and the lady was like, it has to be if it says that doesn’t it. Well it wasn’t and she was very curt in the way she said it as if you are wrong for even questioning it. The service was somewhat dry but maybe she was just all people and questioned out. We walked the length of the shopping center to a gas station across the street bought a lottery ticket and came back and she was bagging up our order when we got back, so the food service was quick.

We ordered the jerk chicken, ox tail and a brown stewed chicken. . The jerk chicken had no. jerk spices and a wet sauce on top of it. I had jerk chicken many times sometimes it was char grilled or oven roasted for a long time with all the jerk spices u come to love and appreciate this wasn’t even jerk chicken by any means. Fail Oxtail: mediocre rice and peas yum. But it’s nothing to drive me back Brown stew chicken was terrible! They took chicken breaded it deep fried it and slop some sauce on it. The chicken with the breaded now sauced became like a goo texture No spice used at this place so if u think spicy Jamaican food is what ur in the mood for don’t come here. I noticed on the other reviews that the chicken curry was out. It was out when I went too. Maybe that’s the sweet spot for curry..

Had seen Aunt I’s jerk recipe on a T. V show and they seemed to be quite well known for their homemade recipe which was passed down by their mother. The show showed how they make the jerk seasoning from scratch and let it marinate in the spices and sauces for a good amount of time. Not sure which location they went but this one was off by a little bit. It was their curry that actually tasted better. The location is straight forward, must have passed by it many times but never noticed it. Some may call it shady but by now, I know better that most of Caribbean restaurants are not located in nor have the the most sophisticated look. They serve good, fresh, tasty, flavorful food, mostly in Styrofoam containers. It is what it is. Other than RockSteady, Bambo Fire, and Lucky City, no other good place have waiter service either. Mostly encouraged to to-go. That may be the reason they are easy on the wallet. Its over the counter-self-service place. The good part is that they have about 6 – 7 tables for those who want to dine in. The menu is pretty standard Jamaican menu with Stews, Curries, and Seafood. The Jerk Chicken and Brown Stew Curries are items that hey claim to have higher proprietary over. They also make fresh Roti there which is big plus. While I had the Roti and Jerk chicken with Curry Goat gravy — since they were out of Curry Chicken, my friend had the Curry Goat. It comes with Rice and Peas and salad. Although it was the small order, it was pretty big. It seemed like they added a Jerk seasoning sauce over the jerk chicken. Not a big fan of that. Ideally, would like the chicken to be marinated in spices and sauces so that its tender and flavorful. The taste was good but not excellent. The curry goat gravy was fantastic. Amazing taste and went very well with the Roti that was hot, soft and large. The salad was fresh and went well with the food. Next time, I will only be trying the curries they have. Before, I try them again would like to the Jerk items at their original location in Pembroke Pines when in that area. For now, this one is another nice find to satisfy the taste-buds and curry cravings.

I am not sure why it took me so long to write a review for this place because I love them. Let me be clear, I have never gone into the restaurant, I have had them cater several events for the company I work for and EVERYONEIS A FAN! From the phone experience to the delivery the service has always been consistently exceptional. The curry chicken is always fresh and dead on(not so spicy the flavor is lost but spicy)! We have also ordered the oxtails and fried dumplings. Some of my coworkers are straight up American food types and they love this food. I have tried some other Jamaican restaurants in the plantation area and was not impressed, so we order from way over in Lauderhill and just wait for the delivery(I am not sure if they deliver individually, my order is always for 12+ sometimes 20+ people). LOVE PS: they have a location in Pembroke Pines but for the life of me I cannot get them to pick up the phone no matter how many times the phone rings — not a good customer service experience; stick with Lauderhill and you will not lose.

The oxtail is here is great, it’s seasoned well, the portions are a nice size and I love the cabbage that comes with it. The jerk chicken however was terrible! I’m not one to waste food, but this chicken was sooooo dry and flavorless I threw it away. I think they used some type of premade seasoning from Publix for this chicken and left it cooking too long. I will just stick with Jerk Kitchen on State Road 7, when I want jerk.

Ate there recently, but was not impressed. The Jerked pork was extremely dry. The rice and beans were very good. Told the waitress about the pork and was told that’s how they make it. A lot of extra sauce was needed to eat it.

I went here last night in hopes to find some authentic jerk chicken, and I dont think it can get better than this! 1. It’s authentic. 2. Perfect blend of spicyness and the jerk sauce is amaazing…(I’m salivating right now. 3. The portion size for the small was enough to feed a small army. aka = me ;) 4. The service here was quick and friendly. It took 5 minutes to get my order. I will definitely be back… at least once a week. If not more.
