This company came to my home in latter 2015 for an energy audit, which was very detailed. I had been having some problems in my home and was amazed at the meticulousness of the study. They found what I knew they would and much much more. My home was built in 1964 so their were problems I was unaware of after living there for 15 years, along with the fact that many things were no longer up to code. Well I can tell you once you commit to fixing these issues, it is a long process. but soooo worth it. My BGE bill was cut in half very quickly. All the light bulbs were changed out as was the furnace, proper venting was installed and fans, insulation, removal of asbestos tile(that I didnt know was there), on and on. I could not begin to list the things fixed in my home. Everything was completed professionally and inspected by the job manager when done. If the reduction of the BGE bill was the only benefit, it would still have been worth it, but the safety involved in knowing your home was inspected and any harmful issues have been dealt with and removed makes you sleep much better at night. I have no lead paint, no asbestos and my energy efficiency has increased 45%

I have heard that these audits are helpful in determining what can be done to make one’s home more efficient. I called them and got an appt. scheduled pretty quickly. Thierry came to my home and did an energy audit because I noticed my electric bills increasing all the time. He was very professional and answered my millions of questions because I am nosy and want to know what is being done in my home by anyone. He went over everything and once he was done I had two new shower heads and all my lights replaced with LED’s!!! All for $ 100(which in Takoma Park gets refunded back to you by the city). I got a report with many suggestions for ways to make my home less drafty(barely any insulation in my attic). I am still figuring out what will be the best options for me, but at least I know what needs to be done. I would highly recommend this service to anyone concerned with high energy bills and especially if you live in an older home.

I didn’t like how unorganized they were with my paperwork. I’ve never worked with anyone who had to made 3 edits to a contract AFTER I already signed. Also, once they did the work, they gave me the wrong forms to fill out. I’m very disappointed since the reviews were so high.

Elysian conducted an energy audit of our 35 year old house. They recommended a number of projects to improve the efficiency of our house. The cost of the projects was very reasonable and was completed professionally and promptly. They used a sub-contractor to add insulate our attic; an Elysian employee supervised the work while the sub-contractor was in the house. The sub-contractor did a great job too. Our house is considerably warmer thanks to the work they did. I especially want to note our point of contact, Justin, did a great job.

Since I’m a new homeowner, my situation is a bit different than others. I not only listened to what Ben told me, but I complied. I am in the process of converting all my light bulbs to LED. My electrician is coming next week to handle the grounding/surges issue with my recessed lighting. I did not buy a new heat pump yet… But it is on the list. I did buy a new energy efficient refrigerator and I converted my home from having an electric stove to gas. So, I moved in at the end of March, I had this eval, spent THOUSANDS, was it worth it? Yes!!! My BGE bill went from $ 165 per month in a 1600 sq ft home(for just me) to(wait for it…) $ 82 a month! See my previous review to know all my other energy efficient steps I had in place and adopted. It’s worth it. Note: BGE changed their program and limited appliances that would receive a coupon discount for energy efficiency. Because none of them included my top of the line refrigerator or gas oven/stove, I had to wait and be sale/credit card savvy at Sears. Next week, I’ll start«winterizing my home». Do what you can afford, but do it. It’s worth it.

I had gotten an energy audit from another company(let’s call it Brand X) and they wrote up an estimate of the work they thought needed to be done. The amount was astronomical. Elysian Energy came in(thanks, Nick Kruse and Sunita Pathik) and reevaluated. Nick’s evaluation was honest and straightforward. He pointed out things that needed to be done and things that really didn’t need to be done and things that Brand X company was using to pad their estimate. Bottom line: good vibes all around. Elysian’s estimate came in about where we could afford the work(assuming the BG&E energy rebate) and we set up the date. The work crew was both thorough and efficient. They showed up on time and left a clean house when they finished. At the end, Nick went over everything with me and showed me what could be seen of the work that was completed in my attic and crawl space area. I have nothing but good things to say about Elysian Energy. Money well spent.

I had Elysian do a pretty extensive job on my house and things turned out well. The process started with an energy audit. The auditors were thorough, replaced light bulbs and installed low-flow shower heads. The written audit included a long list of recommended actions. Then things got complicated. Boosting the efficiency of a house is not simple and straight forward. There are trade-offs and judgement calls to make. It took months to get a final work plan. In the end, we sealed up our ducts using a system called Aeroseal, insulated the attic, the ceiling of an addition and the garage. It was about $ 4000 and included a rebate from the DC government. My heating bills were still high this(unusually cold) winter and the addition is still colder than the rest of the house, but the real test will be in the summer. The house is definitely more comfortable than before and I’m very glad that I got the work done. The folks from Elysian were professional and courteous. You can trust these folks to do you right.

I’m adding an extra two stars for Elysian because they did everything possible to try to diagnose the reason the insulation got wet in the attic based upon the location of my air handler unit. Five stars would have meant they repaired the resulting ceiling damage for me as well, but that wasn’t going to happen. Still, you have to hand it to a company that has already done their work and wants to help make things that turn so terribly wrong– right. I believe they are trustworthy and earned the extra couple of stars. I’m not sure you can get a more personalized evaluation of your home and it’s inherent air leaks, and that helps me justify the cost for an older home like mine. They contract out their HVAC companies, so I can’t fault them for that piece of the nightmare of replacing our system.
