I went hungry and full of expectancy, I ordered three pieces with fries. The girl behind the counter wasn’t all tha nice to me, but I got my food. Three pieces of chicken seem too small, not crispy, somewhat soggy. I’ve noticed the moody girl behind the counter handling money and handling the food without using gloves. I thought it was unsanitary. I really did not think it was worth my trip today. Poor Customer’s service and mediocre food are not my favorite recipe.

I had never heard of this place until I moved to Laurel. I had been wanting to try it and when I finally got around to it, I wasn’t disappointed. I had the Latin Buffalo Chicken Empanadas with Campero Rice(~ $ 8). Tasty, but I’d like to see what the other dishes are like.

I stopped here with my mom, famished, after a day of car repairs & furniture shopping. Our expectations weren’t high, however I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered both the Peruvian and fried chicken(because again, FAMISHED) and both were juicy & well-seasoned. I ordered the yuca fries(yum) and my mom ordered the corn salad(unremarkable). Take note that although it’s fast food, they serve patrons on actual plates, not disposable. Not sure if that’s something I desire from a fast food restaurant, but overall the experience was enjoyable.

I don’t frequent Pollo Campero too often but when I do I am always satisfied. I’ve only tried their bowls with the crispy chicken, camperito bites, and fries. It’s always slow to get your food, but they have the best fries! Sometimes the nuggets can be a bit salty, but never too much for a super taster like me. If you’ve never tried this place, give it a shot even if it’s just for the fries.

I tried this place because I saw the sign while traveling on interstate 95. It is pretty far off of the interstate, so it’s kinda a pain in the @$$ if you are looking to get off and back on your road trip. Now the food was… Ok. Yep just ok. I ordered the citrus grilled chicken breast and wing with Campero beans and a couple of white corn tortillas. The beans were very tasty, but the chicken was dry(although the skin was nice and tangy). The corn tortillas we also dry and cardboard-like. I much prefer flower tortillas, but maybe that is not authentico. Service was good and the restaurant was a little loud. It’s a decent meal if you don’t have to drive out of your way. Now back to I-95 for me!

After moving to the Laurel area in April, I gave this place a try. The young girl at the register was really nice and explained the differences of the menu items for me(she even gave me a small sample of the chicken!) I opted for the roasted chicken and paid the upcharge for the plantains. Wen I got home, I was disappointed because the chicken was so dry! It honestly made me sad because it looked so good in the store. The plantains were delicious and the serving side was quite large(so worth the upcharge). Being that my time in MD is limited due to a cross-country move at the end of the month, I won’t be returning, but kudos to the place for having great customer service and rockin’ plantains!

The manager needs to teach all of the staff what the names of the parts of the chicken are. That is if they know. After that they need to make sure the cooks know their job. The food doesn’t taste the same.

The food is just ok. First time stopping here so I thought I would try a few different things(original chicken, grilled chicken, rice, campero beans, black beans). The food was not bad it was just… Meh… not exciting. The line was long, which was actually kind of exciting, but for the time and money I spent here, I could have just as easily cooked these things at home.

Got it to go & it took a long time, but was well worth the wait. The chicken was YUMMY and very deliciously seasoned!!! Fried and grilled, both soooo good, each had their own distinct flavor and seasoning. Make sure you get some plantains too, because they are very tasty palate cleansers and are a great accompaniment to the meal, as were the yummy sauces.

OMGGGGGGGGGGSOOOOOOOOGOOOD! The plantains were muy buen! Plantains at a drive-thru window… I’m all over that! We had fried chicken and grilled chicken but were wonderful. Seasoned to perfection! Cilantro Lime Sauce to put on the grilled chicken was so good that I was dunking my fried chicken in it! So good! Def will be back. Price was pretty good as well!

No good. Wish I could get my money and appetite back. Chicken was old. Rice had no flavor.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. It’s almost like a hole-in-the-wall experience, but with a fast food chain. Weird, but nice. They give you silverware to eat with – seriously. That’s different. What chain restaurant gives you real utensils?! The chicken was quite good; if you want an alternative to KFC, try them. They also had their own store brand flan and tres leches. It was individually wrapped and ready to go. Also, the salad they gave with the meals was surprisingly large – it could’ve been an entrée by itself.

So I rarely ever review chains, because you know, a chain is a chain is a chain. By design. But so few people are aware of the existence of Pollo Campero that I thought it’d be worth the time and minor effort. I tried Pollo Campero for the first time in Takoma Park, while attending nearby UMCP. Back then I thought it was unique among the offerings of fast food chicken, but had some work to in the way of being a one-stop chicken shop. A feature on that Marc Summer Food Network show and several years later, I rediscovered Pollo Campero and decided to give them another shot. Talking about coming a long way. Not only had they expanded their selection but they now have a very good, very streamlined online ordering system. No wonder they’ve managed to stay in business this long! I’ve used this system to order a variety of menu items(as I always do when testing an unfamiliar food joint) a few times from this location and so far everything has been really good and at worst average. Among my favorites are the original fried chicken and grilled citrus chicken(both unique, juicy, and bursting with flavor), empanadas(deep fried decadent bliss), campero beans(I never like beans as a side too), and the excellent sweet plantains(made perfectly). Oh and the sauces at the sauce bar are actually worth your time. Very fresh and very good. The only knock on this particular location is no drive through!

I like this place. Pretty surprised that a chain restaurant had such good tasting food. I got the grilled chicken. It was extremely juicy. Think it has something to do with pressure cooking… The yucca were actually the best I’ve ever had. Very soft inside and crispy outside. The plantains were also pretty good. Sauces provided were sour cream and some read dipping sauce. The latter I did not care for. I am use to the yellow mayonaise type, and the verde type. Probably just needed to ask for those. The pieces of chicken were actually a little smaller than what I am use to. Not a big deal though. Prices are good.

I like the lighter seasoning on the grilled chicken, compared to some — plus the usual yucca fries and plantains. However, by 5pm they are often out of grilled entirely on the last few visits. I probably need to skip them and head to beltsville or mega chicken.

Well, I hate to do it, but I have to remove a star because they’ve changed the recipe, and it’s no longer the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve ever had :(We went in for a quick dinner tonight, and there was a sticker on the menu next the sandwich saying«New sauce!» Oh no! It wasn’t a bad sauce, sort of a lime-cilantro mix, but it was so good before… It still is better than Chic-fil-a, with it’s side of political interference, though, and has some other cool stuff on the menu. Plus, this place just gets grimier each time we go. Would it kill you guys to wipe down the tables once in a while? And keep the salsa bowls filled? And what’s up with the rude customers in this place?(No, I don’t fault the restaurant for its clientele! But seriously, super-rude customers: is it really wise to be such a jerk to people who are preparing what you are about to eat?) Anyhoo, hopefully this place can get their act together with respect to cleanliness and such, because I really like the concept and menu.

What saves this place is the flavor in the chicken and rice. I was happy with my meal but, the place seemed like it wasn’t very clean, the service was a bit slow, and a fast food meal cost about $ 8

i love this place .a very good option to the overpriced Popeyes chicken across the street. The only place i know of in Laurel to get fresh plantains.
