Can’t complete a trip to the shore without stopping here for your baked goods. Pick up a sheet of crumb cake and fresh cinnamon bread! They are both to die for but you can’t go wrong with anything here!

I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember each summer. The pastries are decent, but not great. Cupcakes, crab cookies or any other sugar cookie, brownies, and a chocolate chip blondie type bar are what I usually get. Their cake always tastes a little stale and is very crumbly, and something about their frosting tastes a little off, but like I said, it isn’t terrible, just not delicious. Also, like someone else mentioned, I would steer clear of the bagels, NOT real NJ bagels. Just stick with sweets. I’ve been to much better bakeries– I think the main reason I like this place is because of all the memories I have of coming here when I was younger. Anyway, it’s worth a stop if you’re in Lavallette and craving a dessert, but don’t expect to be blown away by anything.

Colonial Bakery is perfect for a sweet treat before a day at the beach. The crumb buns, cinnamon raisin buns, and jelly donuts are phenomenal. Of course there is a line in the summer months but it’s well worth the wait!

The crumb cake is to die for. It has the perfect balance between a moist cake and surgery crusted topping. My mouth is watering just typing this review! Don’t pass that up when you go to Colonial bakery. This place is a must stop on your jersey shore to do list. Whether you’re a Benny or a local Colonial bakery will give you a nostalgic taste of the jersey shore. The décor hasn’t changed since their opening and neither has the quality of their pastries. All of their pastries taste like a different homemade, family recipe. One of the best things about the barrier island has been its ability to maintain the amount of mom and pop shops, and not sell out too much to commercialization. Colonial bakery fits the theme! Don’t forget to also try their Sesame Street cookies and cup cakes, another scrumptious recipe with creamy creamy icing and perfect moist cake!

This place is wonderful. I’ve been regularly there since I was a kid — and I still insist on getting 1 ninja turtle cookie at every visit. The pudding cake is the best I’ve had, and I’ve never been disappointed in any cookie, Danish, or any product really. They are cash only but have an ATM. The customer service is always spot on. The pricing is pretty average but I always end up leaving with more than I intended!

The best bakery I have ever been to, the crumbcake is impeccable and not to mention all of the other various – and delicious! – baked goods.

This place is not that good. Bagel was like soft bread that was tasteless. Cheese danish was stale. I came in the morning when everything should be fresh. I dont get it.

Wonderful bakery and of course everything tastes better on vacation. The crumb cake and donuts will have you coming back. A seaside tradition. Everything is as fresh as you would expect and never oily or greasy. Only did not give out 5 stars since their cake varieties are nothing special or creative. Still they are good at what you would expect for a sea shore bakery.

Great bakery with lots of cookies, cakes, fresh breads, and the only place for miles with bagels that come close to NY style. Definitely worth a few morning trips while you are on vacation.

Two words: Crumb Cake. Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom. We’ve been traveling to the Jersey shore for over 30 years and we always, always make sure we’re stocked up on Colonial Bakery’s crumb cake as soon as we get there. Nothing beats sitting out in the hot summer sun at 9:00am enjoying an over-sized portion with your coffee. Hungover or not, it’s part of the package deal at the Jersey shore. Note: There are two businesses with the same name, one is at Highway 35 North & Joseph and one is south of that at Highway 35 North & New Jersey Ave. This review is for the Joseph location. It has the big blue and white sign out front, on the west side of 35 North. Note 2: This place is cash only so be prepared!

If you are ever driving on the parkway south you should stop off in Lavallette for the best jelly donut ever. Colonial Bakery hands down has the best cinnamion sugared jelly ever. It’s light and airy and it has a load of sweet delicious jelly in it. Not like those other donut places you go to this one has all the right amount of everything in it. Besides that they have crumb buns, and cheese danish, sprinkle cookies and decently prices. OH!!! The cinniamon rasian toast… yuum o! The staff is all friendly local college kids so give a tip in the tipp jar the work all summer for bucks for school, They aree all smiley and friendly… Luv this please — So go by grab a donut or two and breath in the fresh salty air of the jeresy shore… my little piece of heaven

A wonderful bakery and a beloved part of town for many year. My entire family sneaks away here for their sprinkle cookies. They are amazing and come in fun shapes like ninja turtles, crabs, or cookie monster. And by the way, no one is too old for a fun character cookie. Good fresh brewed coffee, milk, OJ, great coffee cakes, beautiful birthday cakes and fruit tarts, fresh donuts, and much more. I dig the outdated but authentic 50’s look of the place, too.
