Oh no!!! Popular $ 4.99 specials are not available all day anymore! Only 11 am to 1 pm Monday through Friday. Big bummer. Hate it when a go-to place messes with its formula.

Came for an order of rice as a side dish to serve ~10 people and they charged me $ 15!!! Mind you, it was a scare to go box, not a tray! This is a go to taco spot when I’m in the are, not anymore!!! I only paid it to honor my patronage.

This place is ehh. Some days the food is so delicious you crave it all week. Other days is a huge disappointment. Same with their aguas frescas. Their asada burrito is really good. They also charge when you pay with your card. That’s a thumb down. The place is ok, usually clean. A few pigeons here and there. Some flies flying around. It’s best to take it to go.

This place can be a hit or miss. What I love about this place is that they are close to me and they have legit agua fresca and horchata. I went here because I was craving agua fresca, and I knew they would be able to deliver. I decided to grab some tacos too, and saw that they have the $ 5 combos. *Note about the combo: the tacos that come with the combo come with only one choice of meat(asada, chicken… or…carnitas??) I passed on the combo and got a variety of meats. Each taco came out to be $ 1.50. I got 2 chorizo, 1 asada, 1 pastor. Chorizo is the typical pasty kind of chorizo, asada was good, pastor was probably my favorite. The plate comes with pickled carrots/jalapeño/onions and a few wedges of lime. The tacos were ok, nothing ultra amazing. The agua fresca that I had was strawberry and lime, and it was just ok too… which was a little disappointing because that’s the reason I went there in the first place. I know this place can do better because I’ve experienced better from here. This visit was just ok though.

Based on the reviews we read, we decided to try Al Chile Pelon. You gotta be kidding, this ranked right up there with the worst food we have eaten — we both had a carnitas burrito — double UGH, the meat was like eating rocks with terrible taste; the chips were so stale, the salsa was not fresh. To say something positive, the water was OK; however, they served it in those cups you put in your medicine cabinet to take a pill. We couldn’t even think about finishing the burrito in fear of getting sick. Don’t waste your hard earned $$$ here.

Food is inconsistent. Some days it’s good some days it’s extra spicy, and has different taste. We ordered onEAT24 total was 18.80 got there and charged us 22 something. BS. Then the horchata tasted water down and had no flavor. I usually like to order here but that price they made us over pay pissed me off and nasty horchata just a terrible experience today. Not coming back.

My favorite go-to burrito and taco spot. I’m really picky when it come to burritos so I am glad I was introduced to this spot. They even have other options you might not typically find at a «Mexican» spot such as flautas.

Stopped by in the mid-afternoon when it wasn’t busy. There was only one other customer there. I ordered the 3 tacos al pastor with rice and beans to go. Granted it was cheap, but it came with no salsa, no limes, no pickled carrots/turnips, or even any hot sauce. The tacos didn’t look like any of the pictures that I saw which showed it coming with limes, carrots, etc. It was literally just 3 tacos and rice/beans. I was asked if I wanted hot sauce. Of course I did. How can you eat tacos without any salsa? The quality of the meat was mediocre. If there was some really good salsa and a lime, could’ve helped cover up the mediocrity of the tacos. But there was none, so it really made it stand out. Granted the place is cheap and I would likely pick that place over Del Taco if I had to(at least Del Taco gives you hot sauce), but there are many other alternatives in the area. My advice to the business is to always include salsa, lime, and some pickled carrots/turnips. I would also gladly pay more for better quality. There’s no point in being cheap if the food isn’t at least a little enjoyable.

Don’t order delivery ! I ordered delivery food and then almost an hour later someone called me saying they aren’t delivering. This is after the 30 $ payment had already gone through. They have good food, this is a shame.

Delivery took forever and a day. Tacos were super tiny, no flavor at all and they completely fell apart like a soup sandwhich(disgusting). The posole was disgusting(tasted like pure oil and food coloring). The horchata flavored drink tasted more like chalk water. Don’t waste your money or time on this place. By the way in English the name of this place is very rude(references a penis). Chile in Spanish is slang for your cock as well as a chile pepper. pelon is bald so in other words when they say«Al» chile pelon their saying to go to their bald cock.

Carne asada tacos. Yummmmmmmy!!! Must get. They messed up on our order so we had to go back but still had good service. Fish tacos were tasty as well. Toddler approved.

Good local spot near the Galleria. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like here. Great street tacos, burritos, and cheese enchiladas. Super cheap and open late. What else ya want?

What do you eat when out late and just need a snack to fill that rumbling tummy tum tum… What other than… Tacossssss… And this my friend is the Typical taco shop you need. Straight to business, no frills place. Order your tacos through the front window facing the street and eat in the less noisy back room with lots of seating. Tacos are straight street and are small as usual but priced for like a buck and a quarter. You can easily order a half a dozen and eat like a street king. Don’t feel like tacos?. Don’t stress They got burritos and more … My four stars for this place is on its flavors. I can honestly say the flavors coming out of here is slightly different from other tacos shops I have been too… Beans cooked perfectly. Tortillas nicely grilled. good stuff . Things I didn’t like. ordering on the street makes it difficult due to noise from the traffic behind you. Tacos don’t come with chips like other taco shop that at least give you a scoop of chips to go with your meal. You got to beg for salsa here, which is just a small timbal cup of hot sauce… but remember we are here to fill that belly and bounce. So come with that mind frame and you will be straight . Come here for flavors. Open late. Parking in the back and seating. Done.

I always saw this place on my way home. I device to stop by and get some take out for me and my girlfriend. I ordered two burritos, one chicken and one carnitas. When I got home we unwrapped the burritos and noticed that the carnitas burrito was dripping grease. We open it up and noticed that the meat was drenched in its own fat, dry and hard. That usually happens when the meat has been sitting around for a while in its own fat. As for the chicken burrito, it was over salted. We ended up throwing them away. If you care about your health this place is not for you, save your money and head to Chiplote.

First time at this great spot, and really liked it. Tried the carne asada and carnitas traditional tacos, and a pastor hard shell. Also ordered pozole and the cantaloupe agua fresca. Everything was delicious, but I thought the carnitas were the best of the bunch. The drink was super good too, and when I was leaving the girl working let me try a little bit of the fresh lemonade she just made, which was awesome. Totally recommend it if you’re looking for home cooked, authentic style Mexican.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for a while and have never desired to come here even though I love Mexican food. Maybe partially due to the store front… but I’m glad I finally stopped by! Went late night, around 11:00PM and they were closing up shop. Not sure if the hour affected the service, but it seemed like there was some tension in the air. So, we ordered uneasily — I ordered a quesadilla and a shrimp taco. Quesadilla was perfectly made(I’m a fan of the basics). Cheese was gooey and melted all the way through. «Guacamole» was more of a watery salsa with avocado, but had a nice acidity to it. Shrimp taco was decent, pretty basic with some type of red sour cream sauce. I would definitely return for a quesadilla if I was in a pinch for a late night fix. Step above fast food chain quesadilla for sure!

OMG I’m seriously in a food coma. I’m currently laying on my back in bed & could barely move my body. I had the Shrimp Ceviche, Chicken hard & soft taco, menudo, wet burrito, beans, rice, chips & guacamole & horchata. Have them put the sour cream on the side. It will totally mess up the authentic Mexican flavor on any of the food. I don’t even know where to start. Everything was soooo great even the salsa selection. I am a Mexican food connoisseur. It took a min to get the delivery but it came fresh & hot. Oh I need to add the pickled carrots, jalapeño, & radish could use more pickling; it was just okay. It did hit the spot. I would definitely order again. Time to rest my eyes the food is putting me to sleep. Thank you & good night

Prices are good, the food is good, the staff is very friendly, better for take out or a quick eat in the patio if the weather is nice, not really a fancy sit down restaurant but that is not what they are trying to be, they are a taco stand and they do it well. Parking in the back, and an enclosed patio to wait while your order is ready. They have taco specials and other Mexican favorites and someday I might just have to try something differnet but every time we stop it’s because we are in the mood for tacos and it is a lot closer than driving to East LA for tacos and the prices and quality are the same or better.

Dont listen to the whiners and nay sayers. This place is not fancy but the food is as authentic as it gets. The meats here range between ok and great. For example: The carne asada is ok, the carnitas is good, the al pastor, chorizo, and lengua are great. No matter what else I order, I always order a few hard shell tacos(their specialty) with some combination of the above. Plus they do all the regular stuff like burritos, quesadillas and taquitos. They have amazing Pozole, they have this crazy torta with everything on it, that’s pretty good but prepare for food coma afterwards. The other thing Al Chile Pelon should be recognized for is their fresh Agua Frescas. No fake ass orange bang fountain drinks here, no sir! The flavors rotate so on any given day they could have Strawberry, Cantaloupe(my fave), Pineapple, Horchata, Jaimaca, Tamarindo, or even Strawberry Lemonade. Oh and dont forget to get a churro. Theirs are filled with this caramel sauce and they are awesome. For those that are ordering delivery, they are totally new at delivering and are still working the kinks out. Be patient they’re doing their best.

Points for concerned owner contacting me, they were very apologetic & stated they would remediate kitchen issues.
