There are a lot of true four/​five-​star restaurants in Lawrence. Let me first start off by saying that the Boulevard Grill is not in any way comparable to them. Free State this ain’t. So why four stars then? Because we must compare apples to apples, my friends. This is a hotel sports bar in a rather tired, long in the tooth Holiday Inn. And as a sports bar in a middling, slightly threadbare hotel, the Boulevard Grill is a four-​star example. The staff is competent and friendly, the TVs are large and plentiful, the beer is great (it’s Boulevard, duh), and the food is hot. Burgers, wings, chicken fingers, your standard pub fare. If you come here expecting a Bib Gourmand-​style experience, or a fine prime ribeye, then that’s on you, pal. You should have known better.
