Lawrence, MA
Pretty good. Most things I looked for, they had, and the one thing they didn’t, they ordered. Maybe they don’t have the relative unstumpability of New Hampshire State Liquor Store, or the snob appeal of one of the suburban niche wine boutiques, (replete with tastings; like a cocktail party without cheese) but their selection and prices easily trump anything in Lawrence, and match that of, say, a large chain like Kappy’s — without being a chain. Big, and bright, and respectably stocked as it is, believe it or not, it is a mom and pop. It’s a super-​mom-​and-​pop.
