Great place! They have a very large selection of wines and beers. We were passing through town so we had a few questions about local favorites. The guy who helped us was great to talk to and very knowledgeable about his inventory, local brews, and so much more! We came out of there with an excellent selection of locally brewed beers as well as a few recommendations on what to check out in town. Top notch! We’ll definitely be back to stock up before we leave the area.

One of my two favorite destinations when shopping for adult beverages, and both are named Cork & Barrel. The 9th and Mississippi location is the smaller of the two C&B stores in Lawrence. Because the footprint and wine selection is smaller I tend to buy almost all of my wine from the other location but almost all of our beer and spirits here, mostly single malt whisky, and a fine selection they have. Because of the proximity to campus I feel the wines here lean more towards a college budget. You tend to find fewer high end/pricy wines but still good selections. Traffic here is brisk so there’s never a worry about some sitting around far too long as you might expect at 2 – 3 stores easily within a half mile from here. HINT: you other sellers of wine, store them laying down please and away from the windows! C&B discounts spirits on Mondays and wine on Tuesdays! Many people I know, myself included, do the bulk of our shopping on those days and save a good bit of money. Parking is spacious and it’s easy to get in and out quickly. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The owner is often here during the and is very well versed on fine wines if you have a question. Definitely the class of liquor stores on the North end of the city.

The stuff you want to know: extensive wine, liquor and beer selection, helpful staff. Two convenient locations. Open late(until 11), open Sundays(noon to 6pm). But what makes Cork & Barrel my favorite wine and booze shop in town is the fact that they have two wondrous months where if you buy a case of wine, you get a 20% discount(April, you can’t come soon enough. The other month is October). Not only that, but every monday is 10% off hard liquor. As you can probably gather, I am a wine lover(I prefer Italian reds), and if I can afford it, I try to buy as many cases of wine during discount months to, you know, store in my wine cellar(*eye roll* as if I’d store wine down where the cave crickets lurk).
