Came in here for the first time two weeks ago. My boyfriend was looking for some walking/all day shoes and I was just browsing. They were extremely attentive and spent time with us until we found the perfect shoes. They were not pushy at all and made me feel confident in our purchase. They also sent us a cute thank you card in the mail. Great local store!

Great running store! We were visiting Lawrence for Ironman KS70.3. My heart rate watch broke while doing a practice swim two days before the race… so I needed to get a new one. Thankfully Gary Gribble’s sold a few different heart rate watches. One of them was similar to the model I had. Perfect! The guy helping us was very personable and helpful. It appeared that the store had a good variety of shoes, clothing and nutrition products. Great runner’s oasis in Lawrence. Thank you!

My money will go to Francis Sporting Goods. Gary Gribbles doesn’t honor their own coupons and they don’t know the meaning of customer service. I had another post giving the reasons why I won’t spend money at Gary Gribbles and now the post has been deleted. I will keep coming back to post.

Last year I decided to take up running and train for a 5k. After a week of running with almost blinding shin pain I limped into Gary Gribble’s Running Sports and told the guy behind the counter my problem. Enthusiastically, he stopped everything he was doing and for the next hour he analyzed the shape of my foot, how I walked, how I jogged, and the wear pattern on the shoes I was wearing. He was able to determine my pronation issues, and the fact that my right foot lands at a slight angle compared to my left foot. Then he went in back and brought out eight different pairs of running shoes for me to try on. As I tried out each different pair of shoes, he told me what each one would do for me – the different degrees of support and stability each would provide, etc. Not once during all of this did he stop to go address another customer. For a full hour I had a veteran runner helping me find the perfect pair of shoes. I ran without shin pain from that day on. With somewhere between 300 – 400 miles on my shoes, and the support starting to wear in my shoes, this past April without hesitation I went back to Gary Gribble’s. I gave them my old shoes, and the guy behind the counter(a different guy from the last time) took a good long look at them, asked me a battery of questions about my running, and just as it had happened almost a year ago, he sat me down and for the better part of an hour fitted me for running shoes that would support my new frame. To top it off, Gary Gribble’s has a great return policy. Take a week or so, break your new shoes in on a treadmill(so they don’t get dirty), and if they aren’t what you want, you can take them back for a different pair. A great policy when you are spending that kind of money on shoes. Consistently great customer service, reasonable shoe prices, great selection of gear, and did I mention how awesome their customer service is? Because it really is. If you are even thinking about getting into running, I suggest you make Gribble’s your first stop.

Simply the best running store around. With locations in Overland Park and KCMO, this Lawrence location is the newest in the Garry Gribbles family. However, new doesn’t mean inexperienced or poor service in this case. Staffed with an exceptional group of dedicated runners, they’ll personally take the time to fit you with exactly the right shoe for your running style. I’ve bought two pairs of shoes there, my wife has bough one pair, and each time they’ve sat down with us and been completely ok with taking 30 – 45 minutes to make sure we get the right shoe. I fight shin splints and the staff able to quickly diagnose my gait style and help me select a shoe that proved to remedy my ailment and keep me running. Shoes are expensive, but Garry Gribbles constantly offers clearance deals and specials so you don’t have to buy improper shoes out of budget considerations. Also a great place to meet other runners, they offer a pretty solid calendar of races and events around town. OH, and they stock my favorite socks in the world, Injini’s, which just makes me all kinds of happy camper. They recently started carrying Vibram’s Five Fingers, which perhaps seems like a counter-intuitive move for a running shoe store, but Gribbles is all about making your runs better and seems to have a service first, money second attitude. I can’t recommend them highly enough, if you’re a runner, walker, or person with legs and feet, you NEED to stop by Garry Gribbles.
