Lawrence Public Schools Rollins

I attended September 1987 to June 1993.
There were a lot of flaws just with the «structure» of the school itself, but overall, it had GREAT teachers.
Flaw #1: It was old. It needed a lot of updating. By the time I entered the school in 1987, the ceiling in the auditorium had falling, chipping paint, the windows were old, there were cobwebs EVERWHERE in the basement windows. The old steam radiator heaters smelled so bad, sometimes I wanted to throw up from the smell in the winter. The school only had one TV/​VCR, I think, no computers, nothing but systems 80s for 1^st and 2^nd graders to learn on up until 1991.
Flaw #2: We had no playground. Just a small schoolyard. Today, I believe the school, which is just for Kindergarten classes, has a new playground they built circa 2010 on the right front side of the school which connects to the back of the schoolyard.
Flaw # 3: Gym classes were made from the space we had in the basement, in hallways, auditorium (on rainy/​snowy days), or even out in the schoolyard (in the fall/​early spring). My gym teacher, Ms. Johnson, really deserved a nice gym of her own. So happy for her that she finally has one at the new Parthum School they built back in 2002. She had to make use of all the little areas the school had back then to teach gym/​sports.
Those were pretty much the only flaws the schools had. But as I said before, the school had GREAT TEACHERS!
Teachers when I was going there were Ms. Fusco/​Mrs. Riley for Kindergarten, Mrs. Castiglione/​Mrs. Chalibois for 1^st grade, Mrs. Farrel/​Mrs. Bertelsen for 2^nd grade, Mrs. Nadeau/​Mrs. Kannan for 3^rd grade, Mrs. Salvo/​Mrs. Jalbert for 4^th grade, and Mrs. Bisonette/​Mrs. Krawiec (RIP 2003) for 5^th grade. Ms. Johnson for gym (she’s the only teacher left now that went to the Parthum after it was built, everyone else retired, I believe), Mrs. Liccardi for Art, Mr. Krueger for music, and Mrs. Kennedy (RIP 1992) and then Mrs. Sullivan for Principals. All teachers were so nice and memorable. Even the chapter one teachers Mrs. Wlodyka (RIP 2014), Mrs. Deschayne, Mrs. Copolla (RIP 2004) and Mrs Driscoll were awesome! A lot of my former teachers from here have retired circa by 2003 either while still at the Rollins or when they were transferred to the Parthum School and several have passed away, but they were some of the best teachers I ever had.
The school was very safe. We had some wise guys, but usually they were expelled or left the school after a year. We also did a LOT of talent shows and performances in the auditorium and did many creative writing assigments in 4^th and 5^th grade.
