While I was in grad school at KU, a friend and I decided to do a tour of yoga studios in Lawrence by doing the introductory packages at all the studios. Om Tree was the first studio we tried and we never left. Until I moved away, that is. Since I moved away I have tried four different yoga studios where I am living now and none of them even come close to competing with Om Tree. I haven’t been to Om Tree since the summer of 2013(but have been meaning to write a review since then) but the things I loved about it then were: 1) Amazing teachers. They were all awesome and provided assistance with poses, excellent adjustments, and often used the Sanskrit words for the poses, which I really appreciated. 2) Great music during the classes. This is a big deal to me and one of the things that’s disappointing about my current studio is that many of the teachers don’t use music at all. 3) Lovely studio. I liked the mirrors so I could check my alignment, the natural light coming in through the windows, the plants, the scent, everything. 4) Great variety of classes and times. 5) Student discount! OmTree was the first place I practiced yoga regularly, and that practice helped me get through my second year of grad school which coincided with planning a wedding with my long-distance fiancé. It was exactly what I needed at that time. I think of OmTree often and it’s probably one of the top 5 reasons I wish I still lived in Lawrence!

Excellent, excellent, excellent. The energy about this place is clean. The people instructing are truly there to help you. It’s all about kindness and healing and understanding yourself, not money. If I could rate Om Tree more than 5 stars, I totally would. I love everything about this place. :)

I joined OmTree last January and enjoyed it until I moved from Lawrence in July. What an awesome experience. I’ve done yoga before at another studio in Lawrence but it didn’t compare to OmTree. My favorite things about the place were: — flexible schedule with early morning sessions — wonderful, wonderful teachers who make sure you’re doing poses right and help you out with gentle suggestions — variety of classes that allow you to practice whatever yoga your body is in the mood for — Sun Flow, Heart Flow, Hot Hatha, Kundalini, Core Glow, etc. — the atmosphere of the place — it’s like coming to a peaceful home where the temperature is perfect, everything is clean and neat, and they have great music — great discounts — location — downtown Lawrence I really miss this place and wish I could teleport back to Lawrence every time I want to do yoga.

I’ve been going to Om Tree about once a week since the beginning of the year. I’ve dabbled in yoga before, but have always ended up quitting because it started to feel like a chore. The other day, a friend seemed surprised when it came up in conversation that I had run that morning and was going to yoga that night. I laughed, «The running is work, but Om Tree is like my cupcake reward!» It’s true. I look forward to it all week, and just walking in takes weight off my shoulders. And if you can get a group together for the friends plan, it’s really affordable too!
