I don’t do fast food but when I do this is where I go. Really like the frisco melt and don’t mind waiting since it’s made to order. The customer service is better than some fine dining places in town. They fix mistakes which is much appreciated.

Do you like tea… WRONG
the tea here has never been
bums for tea drinkers. Also this particular time the service was awful and I was informed that the server is new. I understand a new server but you can’t blame poor product on a new server.
Cold coffee, crap tea, and let me tell you how amazing the food was … mmmm cold fries.
We come here cause it’s cheap eats and the shakes are usually good.
At least they had another server watching who was able to remedy the situations and take care of it. Thought I do not like bringing it to ones attention multiple times dry my one meal.

DO NOT GET THE CHILI CHEESE FRIES. Unless you like beans, and a lot of them, I do not recommend this option on their menu. The other things are good like the shakes and burgers.

Restaurant was nice and clean, the service staff greeted us and say us right away. Our server got our drink order to our table very quickly, and even got a to go cup after we left. The food was prepared as expected, delivered to the table promptly and hot. Overall a good experience.

If my dad taught me one thing in all my life that I have partially listened to it is to seek out a good burger. This place has the burger and shoestring fries down. I am not a fan of the other diner food, though. Everything else seems so plastic and mass produced.
The steakburger is killer. I will eat here over most other fast food chains. I prefer mom-​n-​pop joints, but if I am crossing the country, or visiting Lawrence on a road trip, and need a fast bite I will stop here.
The interior could be cleaner here. It is amazing how dirt and food-​stuff gets flung around and adheres to surfaces never to be cleaned. People get used to the filth that surrounds them in the food industry.

You get what you expect. Nice service, food never was cold, tasted fantastic. I kinda noticed it’s a bit greasy burgers, but still solid food.

Yes it is a chain but it’s a really good chain! It’s real patty that a person formed from fresh meat. Not some pre frozen and pre formed patty that’s questionable on if it’s 100% real beef. I absolutely love their chili loaded. Their hot dogs are good too, they are real beef dogs. A big plus when feeding a large family is price, and they are super cheap! I can get a burger and fries for like $ 4. It’s rare to find a good quality fast food restaurant that’s also cheap. And their breakfast is really good, not at all greasy like Denny’s and other places. And of course it’s cheap too!

Steak N Shake serves a crucial role for the small college town: it lets you get a burger, fries, and whatever other crazy meal that suddenly appeals to you during your late-​night delusions (you SHOULD be in bed, after all).
The food is pretty good — definitely not bad, and the prices are fine. You could do a lot worse for food late at night and if you’re anywhere near the south side of town and don’t want to get out of your car, this place is calling for you.
