Swimming Pool Center

We called this place to service our pool heater which was intermittently shutting off. Two technicians came and determined it could be 1 of 2 things, and they would order the less expensive part to try. We were told that the $ 240 service fee wouldn’t be charged until they came back and fixed the unit. When we got our credit card statement we saw that hey ended up charging us both times. Then the first part didn’t fix the problem (we determined this immediately and I’m not sure why they didn’t) so had to call them again. They came back and replaced the entire control module for $ 330 without our authorization. We have now been charged a total of $ 983.61, and they are unwilling to negotiate any reduction in the charges, and just said ‘our service technicians should not have said they wouldn’t charge the $ 240 again for coming back’. At this point we could have bought a new heater. Very disappointed.

HORRIBLE!!! Still waiting for a phone call since April/​May??? Don’t expect one either — will just go somewhere else — will have to pay another $ 1,000 + but hopefully the new business will be reputable and keep my business till I move… :(

I recently had the Swimming Pool Center out to fix my heater. 2 guys showed up within 10 minutes of the scheduled appointment (Friday morning at 8:00). Both were courteous and careful. We went out to the heater and the lead person went through the heater to diagnose the problem. He clearly had a very good understanding of the heater operation. He took the time to explain how it worked and where all the sensors were. He found the circuit board was corroded and removed it, showing me the corrosion. They would have to order a new one and would return when it came it. I probably would have given this 4 stars but I thought the price was a little high for less than an hour of work ($ 150) and I don’t feel there’s a lot of follow up. It would have been nice if they called to say they ordered the part, when it’s scheduled to come in and when they can come back out. I called today (Thursday) and was told it’s suppose to come in today. if it does, then they’ll put me on the schedule for Monday. I feel as soon as they new the order shipped, they should have called me and asked if they could come out on Friday. Now I have another weekend of cold water, when it would only take them about half an hour to fix. The service itself is great though.
By the way, I don’t use them to open/​lose my pool. I use Admiral pools in Tyngboro MA. They’ve been great.

We have always had good service from the SPC. We go there for water testing and supplies, they open and close our inground pool every year, and do various maintenance, etc. They are always reasonable and courteous, but then again, so are we.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Went here two weeks ago to see about having our pool heater repaired, The technician told us someone would call within 2 days to schedule a time, 5 days later no call. Called and spoke with the service department and they apologized and gave me a date 3 days away. Left work early for the appointment, no one showed. Called this morning at 9 am and was told by a rude nasty woman that I had the wrong date/​time and it was for today at 5, not yesterday. I then listened to my office messages and the technician left a message late yesterday evening on my work number, stating he was tied up and could not make the scheduled appointment. So I was correct it was yesterday. Anyway, I just called to confirm today’s 5 pm appointment and the exceptionally nasty woman told me he probably wouldn’t be out due to the rain. I asked why no one had the decency to call and advise me of this and she stated that the day wasn’t over, even though the weather is not changing and a tropical storm is in the predictions. No apologies for all of this, just absolute rudeness. These people do not appreciate good repeat customers. We have spent thousands of dollars here, had 2 pools installed in ten years and all the chemicals that go with it. We had planned on continuing purchasing our pool and jacuzzi chemicals here and buying a new pool cover here, along with, in all likelihood, a new heater, BUT NOT NOW… Called Matley Pool and they are happy for our business. I will never spend a dime here again.
