Almost Home

(Please note: I am writing this review for my mother and grandmother who ate at Almost Home April 21, 2015. Her words; she doesn’t have a Unilocal account).
Good food, but beware of hidden charges.
My mother and I ate here (I had the grilled cheese with fries: $ 5.50, and she had the plain grilled cheese: $ 3.50). At the top of the menu, it states: All sandwiches can include tomato, pickle, onion, etc. My mom opted for a tomato on the sandwich.
When the bill came, it was over $ 17. Noticing it seemed high, I took a look at it, and found out that my sandwich was $ 6.50 and my mom’s was $ 4.50 — plus 50 cents for the tomato. I asked to speak to the manager, and he took a look at it, and corrected it.
I wonder, though, if no one really looks at the bill… was our particular waitress overcharging on purpose? The menu CLEARLY states the price, and says NOTHING about a 50 cent charge for a tomato, for a pickle, or otherwise.
BAD business practices, even with the manager’s correction. We will not be returning here, and I would suggest to everyone who frequents this eatery to CHECK YOUR BILL.

Excellent home cooked food. Nice people. Large portions, might want to share. We had breakfast. They were open on New Years day.
