Ate here this week with my family. I often eat at steakhouses nationally, I’m a Pharmaceutical meeting planner. We typically book Landry properties, Flemings, Del Friscos, Capital Grille, etc… The food was good(hence the 3 stars). We ate on the lighter side with appetizers, sandwiches and salads and what we ate was delicious. My only issue(losing the other 2 stars) was that the service which was not up to par with comparable steakhouses, actually quite disappointing. The hostesses didn’t smile when we came in, etc. threw our menus down at the table and ran away. The server took over 10 minutes to first approach our table to take our drink order, no one brought bread(as all the other tables seated after us were receiving). After the server dropped our drinks, she said I’ll give you a few more minutes(we were ready to order) and ran away for another 10 minutes. When asking for recommendations– she flat out told me she didn’t eat or like certain options.(what?) Our food took over 30 – 40 minutes to come out, I asked the busboy for bread, the and the server never communicated why it was taking so long or checked on our drinks, etc. I totally understand kitchens being slow– but let us know. The food finally came out– and it was again dropped and she ran. Didn’t check back on us– refill our drinks, etc… we finished and were sitting with our dirty plates for over 10 – 15 minutes when I finally got up to walk around to ask for our check.(We probably would have ordered coffee/dessert but at this point I wanted to leave) Not the kind of service I expect from a steakhouse– and nowhere in the same league as the others but I can see they are trying. Their food is good(hence the 3 stars) and they are headed there– but need a major staff training overhaul dealing with quality customer service.(At least for our waitress did). If you go– the food is nice, but be prepared to sit and wait– as this was my experience.

Top notch meal. The other day I stuck with what they do best, steaks, and had another great meal. Had the regular NY Strip(cheaper one), and it was tasty, perfectly prepared, came with a nice side salad, was just perfect. Also ordered creamed spinach, which was delicious but a bit too rich for my tastes, no harm done; and calamari, which was really tasty as well. Had a good bottle of wine, reasonably priced. Server was HIGHLY professional, one of the few I’ve encountered who has the good grace and sense to leave people undisturbed while they are in mid-conversation. KC Prime is one of only a very few real restaurants in this area.

Went to KC prime last night for the first time in a while. However we have been there numerous times in the past. Menu had changed it doesn’t have the number of items on it as they used to. My son who ordered a pasta dish with beef which came in a bowl had only three or four pieces of noodles and several pieces of beef. Not very much for the price of $ 24. The the sauce was also very sour and greasey. We also got seated in one of the back booths. Our waiter seemed to have had an attitude. Anytime we asked him anything he was doing us a favor. Water glasses never got refilled. All in all our visit sucked.

I thought that being advertised as a steakhouse, the filet Mignon would be outstanding, instead it could be used as a deadly weapon, tough does not begin to describe it… My friend ordered a Pepsi, we sent it back, don’t know what it was… beet salad was ok, while the other salad which came with the dinner was excellent… Prime Rib was excellent, as was the creamed spinach,…desserts were average to below average…, cheesecake was the pits,., and so, its just another steakhouse with a fancy name…

KC Prime’s slogan is «the moment you step into KC Prime, you realize it’s not your average steakhouse.» Unfortunately, that’s because you’re horrified at realizing it’s your sub-average steakhouse. Went to KC Prime last night with a friend who recently moved to the area. I asked the waiter what steak I must have and the server without skipping a beat immediately suggested the NY Strip. Against his better judgment, I went with his suggestion. I ordered it medium and I might as well have ordered a piece of rubber. No flavor, and the baked potato that came with it was dryer than the Sahara. My friend was in the mood for a pasta dish and misread the menu listing the fettuccine as fettuccine alfredo, which they don’t have. Not only did the waiter hear my friend repeatedly say Alfredo and didn’t correct him, but when he brought out the dish, he asked my friend if he liked it. My friend replied he didn’t, that he was expecting an alfredo dish, and the waiter just said«I’m sorry» and walked away. No offer of a different entrée, no offer of a complimentary drink, nothing. Just an «I’m sorry» and off he went. It wouldn’t have been a problem if the pasta dish wasn’t one of the blandest looking dishes ever to be set atop a table. Needless to say, I won’t be back. I’m not familiar with the Princeton area, but I’d have to imagine that there are better steaks out there.

If you want five star service ask for Josh… we came in and werent drinking that night(whaat!?!) ordered two burgers… And some appetizers and desserts but no big deal and then left taking the receipt with the tip listed so he got no tip but Josh not only treated us like we were five course drinkers with big steak dinners —but even having obviously noticed the tip Issue Josh still treated us so great and gave us a truly nice goodnite. Yes folks we are getting Josh his well deserved tip but we are going back soon. Let me edit that… We brought the tip in but didn’t get to see Josh… so Josh, we left your $ 20 tip with Barri… just wanted to follow up to make sure after all this thatJosh got that tip and Im not kidding about the pricing… its extremely well priced especially for the delicious and generous menu…(ps– that tip was doubled because of the original issue. Thanks Josh!!! The food is delicious, generous in proportion and guess what folks. You probably heard it was pricey but it was anything but. In fact, it was less in everywhere to the pizza/Italian place in Pennington most of all Waaay less in price. Definitely five stars!!! Thanks Josh. You are the best!

We had a dinner meeting there last night. Food was excellent. The wait staff was overall good but one particular waiter seemed short and abrupt with all of us. His attitude did not escape our attention. And to cap off our evening, he gave us our perfect cheesecakes to take home looking mangled. Great evening overall except for disgruntled waiter. Hence the 3 stars

Loved Sunday brunch here. Haven’t done any other meals. watch out because beverages are not included as part of the brunch, coffee and juices can run up the bill quickly. Food is good, nice selection, omlet bar, and good selection of desserts. I recommend.

What do you do when an elderly Belgian gentleman tells you to go to KC Prime to try a draft beer. If you are like me, you go. The beer in question was Kronenbourg 1664 blanc, and it was great! But I made a rookie mistake in this establishment that I have dined at numerous times. I did not order a steak. But it was lunch and I wasn’t even that hungry. Still, I knew better and still opted for their cheesesteak. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. You certainly can get something as good or better in many nearby places, and for half the price. My point being, when you come here you really should stick with steak. They do that very well. I’ve experienced several other menu items here, and they are hit or miss. This is a really good place for older family members, very straightforward food, and usually utilizing quality ingredients. My service today was excellent, and for the most part that has been my experience. To be honest, that beer was so good it will probably bring me back in before it is tapped. But steak for me next time. 3.25 Unilocal

Really can’t complain for the area. The steaks are no Keens or Peter Lugers, but for the area they’re much better than anything else around. Service is always great and accommodating(even when we were there with 8 people last time). Appetizers and sides are just as good. Always enjoy coming here as it’s a good local place with a nice atmosphere and good steaks. The drinks are always strong as well.

I am sitting here and I have started writing this because my waitress is being so accommodating. I’m vegan and she went and talked to the chef for me. He gave a few options — including tofu! A+ I got the pasta primavera which was huge but a bit bland. My family enjoyed their food quite a bit.

3 stars for the best reasonably priced brunch around, and for the bar area/happy hour. 2 stars for dinner. Calamari in drenched in a sweet sauce that was not appetizing, and the appetizer salad had a dressing with an overpowering mustard flavor. The server told us our entrees came with salads AFTER we ordered and shared an appetizer salad. So, we got soup — a seafood chowder — instead, and it was unbearably salty. I had a mushroom pasta for entrée that had zero flavor. We decided to skip dessert based upon the mediocre nature of the rest of the meal. Drinks were decent.

Update***I’m not sure what happened to this place, sadly we stopped going because the food hasn’t been very good. Update**** This is our weekly go to restaurant when we are in the need for fabulous food and cozy ambiance and I don’t feel like cooking lol. I met Philip last week and he was gracious and made us feel at home ;) Thank you for the consistent delicious food!

Kc prime has been in my rotation since they arrived on the Lawrenceville scene over 10 years ago. I used to live just around the corner. I had just moved into the area and found their arrival to be a fortunate gift because, A, I love a good steak and B, enjoy a well made cocktail in a cozy bar. It was a real boost to the area. My wife and I moved back north and my visits to KC waned. Just last week I returned with a friend. I owed him a steak and was there to make good on the bet I had lost. I always make bets for steak. Either way, even if I lose, I win. I am pleased to report the entire operation is still stellar and on par with my memories of times past. Waking in the hostess was pleasant and cheerful asked if I’d would like to be seated early. I figured I’d have a drink and wait for my buddy. The bar area still a cozy place to have drinks and talk with friends. I ordered a Manhattan to specification(straight up, simple syrup, bitters, no cherry). The bar tender was attentive and the pour was deep and to the rim. A perfect mixed cocktail, a nice way to start an evening dinner. I knew I was back to a familiar. After a drink we were seated. The waiter was excellent and attentive. We ordered another drink and the bartender remembered and mixed the exact same specification. After mulling over what appears to be an updated menu I ordered some blue point oysters and we both got the 12oz prime rib. The oysters were good. When the steaks came I was a bit set back by the odd cookie cutter like shape of the 12oz cut. I expected the typical«slab cut» but this was a tailored cut with what appeared to be grill marks. Odd no? Although the steak was tasty. I just expected a slab cut, not something that at first glance looked like a sirloin cooked on a grill. So note to future diners, order the larger cut if you want that pink hued season encrusted slab. The table next to us ordered the larger cut and we were immediately jealous. But they did end up taking the rest home in a doggie bag. The steak came with the usual horseradish potatoes which were less horseradish-y then I remember, but creamy and delicious. At the end of the meal we orders coffee. Still great coffee! I passed on dessert. I was satisfied and it was great to be back at KC Prime. KC prime is a fantastic steak house experience. There is something for everyone, big appetites and small, cozy, comfortable and welcoming with great food at a great price point.

Been coming here since it opened. Sunday brunch is very good(quality and selection), and the price cant be beat. Dinner never disappoints. Always very good, occasionally excellent, rarely sub-par. Overall a 4 star place.

Love the bread(especially raisin) and hummus spread. Something different from your average bread and butter. Ordered crab cake appetizer which was served over sweet potato snd delicious. Filet mignon with a twice baked Yukon gold potato(which I substituted for the wasabi mash for a 4 dollar upcharge) was delicious. Ordered a side of brussel sprouts which were also excellent! Yum!

I truly enjoyed this restaurant, we were a bit underdressed in khakis and a polo on but didn’t really stand out. I had the crab cake appetizer. A nice presentations, served on top of a thick slice of sweet potato. My entrée was the prime steak… Let me say I have never seen a piece a steak this huge. The mashed potatoes were beyond delicious. Loved it and had plenty left over for lunch the next day. The prime rose martini was terrible. Even had to ask the waitress to take it away, couldn’t take the smell. But everything was good.

Sometimes, it’s just better to avoid the hassle of preparing and cleaning up the Thanksgiving meal. This was one of those years. Something to do with keeping it simple. As we’ve done occasionally in previous years, I made reservations at KC Prime for their Thanksgiving buffet. Thanksgiving reservations are set up in blocks of 2 hours throughout the day. We arrived about 15 minutes early, but was seated promptly. The entire restaurant was packed. We were seated in their back room, which they only use for special occasions. The only downside was that our table was directly across from someone who must have just taken their overcoat out of a bag with mothballs, so that area of the room smelled like mothballs. As usual, the entire center section of the restaurant was set up with steam tables with the usual Thanksgiving fare, along with a carving station for hand-carved turkey, beef, ham. It also had a section of steam tables with someone behind them making fresh pasta. After loading our plates with different cheeses, bread, salad and pasta we made our way back to the table with«round one.» The next trip was to load up on the Thanksgiving food. I loaded my fresh plate with turkey, stuffing, candied sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and a piece of salmon. The final stop was at the dessert table. There was plenty of cookies, cakes, fudge and chocolate mousse. Everything was prepared to perfection. Short of preparing it ourselves, it was everything that a Thanksgiving meal should be, plus. The two hour window for seatings is ample time to get your food and drink on. We left full and happy we decided on a Thanksgiving dinner out. We headed home to watch the Eagles slaughter the Cowboys.

Came with 2 colleagues from work. Was delighted we were seated in a section off to the side and not smack in front of the entrance. Unfortunately there was a large table with very loud patrons nearby — no fault of the restaurant but perhaps large parties should be seated away from smaller ones. Had the prime rib and it was cooked exactly as I ordered it. Subbed the bourbon sweet potato mash for the wasabi potatoes and they were amazing. Upgraded to the ceasar salad, which was average. Waiter tried very hard but seemed a bit nervous to me. He did a good job but couldn’t seem to come across as comfortable in his skin. Perhaps there was something else going on there. We split a bottle of wine among us. Good list. Waiter made no attempt to suggest anything, but we know our wines fairly well so it was all good. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. I expected a bigger bill and since I was on expense statement I’m glad it was reasonable. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.
