This review is about the grocery store. I visited the store the first time last month, and this will be my last! First of all, I walked into the store at 2 pm, and the floor is all wet. No signs ATALL to warn any customers. It was so wet, I had to walk carefully that I wouldn’t slip and fall. A message here to the owner: It’s a good thing that the floor’s being cleaned, but there’s a time for it, and if it is urgent, a sign and a way to get around it would be helpful. In this case, it looked like they decided to clean the whole store at 2 in the afternoon! Secondly, and more importantly, I made an unexpected stop at the store to buy a small item worth a few bucks. I had just run out of cash in hand. On checkout, I told the cashier that I didn’t have cash and even showed out my wallet. The cashier flat-out refused to give an exception! I agree that it may not be «profitable» to buy 5 bucks on a credit card, but that day, that was my only option then! Not sure, if the cashier was the owner/relative or just an employee, but a second, very basic, common sense message to the owner on how to do business: — NEVER chase out a first time customer, especially when there is a reason for giving an exception! I understand about someone who constantly misuses that leeway you give, but in my case — That was the first… and the LAST! For a few cents(5% max of 4 $), you lost me EVER coming back!

As usual indo-pak grocery store. Remember this is a grocery store, not the restaurant. Lot of people recognize that in a wrong way. The restaurant is next to the bazar in the same building. This is not a big store with lot of items, but enough space to carry most needed grocery items. Added newly — they add the meat cutting service newly, so we can save that much time and energy in home. They only sell and serve halal meat, so you can buy meat from here confidently. I usually buys the chicken, so one whole chicken is cut and packed for $ 4.50 or some, they also sell beef. Rest of the store is just average, but not bad at all. Diary and frozen aisle have decent amount of collection. Workers are very helpful and friendly. Its not that hard to find the product from here, products are well organized in shelves. Not so busy but i always had to wait in line(because there is only one checkout line, actually two there but they use only one most times). You can also purchase the latest Bollywood movie DVD at a cost of $ 2. Overall, i surely comeback here, the main reason is i live close to it. I recommend this store to anyone who interest to purchase indo-pak grocery and food items at a reasonable price. They also have a small sweets section behind the cashier counter, mostly they had the north Indian style sweats. I dont think, it have an expiry date until they feel its looks bad. Good — reasonable pricing, meat cutting service, Parking, sweets. Bad — Store is not that clean(take a tour to rest room), items are not always in stock and its common to every grocery store, selling latest movie DVD that copied from internet.

THISISNOTTHERESTAURANT. The grocery store is called SHAAHIBAZAAR but the actual restaurant on the LEFT of the hallway is called JAGRALAFOODPALACE(see my review of it)…I Suggest Unilocal changes the pictures to the actual restaurant which is JAGRALAFOODPALACE. Now to the grocery store part… It seems to have all kinds of indian/Pakistani groceries and farmers market quality vegetables. The store itself is not very clean when I went there an I think it needs to be organized a little better when it comes to presentation and location of the product.

My Desi bestie took me out to eat at Shahi Bazaar proclaiming that the Chicken 65, a dish I’ve always wanted to try but never had. I would’ve known about Shahi Bazaar if it wasn’t for her. I mean, I see the name but I walk in and there’s a grocery store & movie/clothing store on the right owned by Shahi Bazaar. The left side is the banquet hall. It’s not small or big but the buffet is small compared to other Desi restaurants I’ve been to. There are styrofoam plates and cups. None of the food was label so I have my Desi bestie there to help me out. I tried EVERY dish and knew what I liked and didn’t. Honestly, all the dishes were good, just preferred some more than the others. Oh yeah, the meat dishes are all halal meat. I am not a beef person but my Desi bestie has given me halal beef in a samosa form and I did like it but I realized I liked it in a minced form. The beef dish at the buffet is really good, I used the naan to dip in the sauce and did not eat the beef. OMG, Chicken 65 is officially my fave Desi dish. No kidding. It used to be masala dosa but this chicken 65 is just too good. Most chicken breast dishes are a bit dry to me so I’m used to having chicken tandoori or chicken makhani thighs. I am will definitely be going back. I love love love it. What I also learn is that if you want to take it to go, you can, they do not weigh by the pound. It’s $ 2 extra but not bad bad at all, y ou get a 3-sided to-go container and two cups/lids are given to you. We filled it up w/Chicken 65. Better than paying by the pound at most Asian buffets. I took a tour of the grocery store and got me 3 movies for $ 5. I was so excited.

Food is very good. Cheap. Unassuming place that serves on styrofoam plates. Naan was excellent. Tikka Masala was plenty hot. I want to go back.

Don’t be fooled by it’s «unpretentious» appearance. In fact, it is best not to look at the dirty floors as you walk in the entrance to this Indian mart. The grocery store is clean and well stocked. I love to go to the Indian grocery store to get Nan and loose green tea. It sure beats the prices of Teavana. BUT… (and here is the best part…) If you are looking for a quick Indian meal, go across the hall to the restaurant /dining hall. Again, this«restaurant» is not much to look at. In fact, the first time I went –even though it said«open» I did not feel comfortable going in. No one was there. BUT… don’t let that deter you. Go in! After my friend told me about this hidden treasure of a restaurant, I decided to try it for lunch. I don’t like eating in a big room all my myself so I ordered the lunch special to go –a big fat Samosa with a heaping portion of Masaman Curry and rice. It was ready in 10 minutes and cost me all of 6 bucks.(I’ve spent more than that at Subway across the street!) This place is Indian food for the hard core fans of Indian food. It feels like you are eating in the family’s kitchen. I’m so glad that it is conveniently right down the street –right near the Taco Bell I usually frequent! I will definitely go there again and again…
