Curry chicken is to die for. Went on a Friday for the first time, going back on Sunday for more.

I Have eaten here a number of times food is good but the service not so good. I’m not a restaurant owner, manager or cook. But if I’m ordering from you, hearing is a great way to communicate with customer. I must say when hiring someone people skills are also a great way too. A smiling face can’t help a unskilled worker. But other than that it was amazing. Fire the guy behind the cash register. Would help the business out tremendously. All the food is amazing though…

The rumors are true. Customer service here is non-existent. The guy at the counter was rude and disrespectful. He was arguing with another customer and didn’t acknowledged us. Even worst he made a scene with a customer for everyone to see. The whole thing was very uncomfortable to watch. My children started feeling uneasy and wanted to leave immediately. After waiting in line for our order, my husband left one dollar as a tip(not sure why since it was takeout and we were standing watching the argument) and the guy got all agitated and screamed«one dollar? That’s all you are going to give me as a tip?» These people have no class whatsoever. I’m surprised they have lasted this long. How was the food? Meh! I had better. Don’t come here, this place is full of jerks, literally!

A little taste of the island of Jamaica! Love the oxtail and jerk chicken! Locally owned operated. Not a lot of parking, so to go is your best bet. Come hungry and leave full! They believe in big portion and at a fair price!

Was in the mood for Jamaican and didn’t want to drive far to get a meal today so I stopped by the Jerk Shack. I pass this place often because I live close by, but read all the terrible reviews on Unilocal.I should have went to my normal place. $ 13.25 after taxes for a small goat plate was hardly worth it. The goat was mostly small pieces of fat and bone in a greasy gravy. The rice and peas were kind of sweet. The plantains were cold and unripe; and the beef patty was totally cooked to death. Next time I’m in the mood for Jamaican, I’ll drive a little further to my normal spot.

I ordered the Jerk Chicken Plate: Jerk Chicken — — — - B; not too spicy; kind of salty Plantains — — — — — A; made perfectly; soft; ripe Rice and Peas — — - B; basic; I preferred it with the oxtail gravy on it to flavor it up Beef Patty — — — — - C; not authentic; tastes like it was frozen and shipped; sad Total: $ 10.06 I’ve had better Jamaican food and this one is on the lower spectrum.

I have had plenty of authentic Caribbean food. just like any other culture there’re different ways to make a dish. I have not had the jerk chicken but Their brown stew chicken and ox tails are very very good. The rice and peas are great. This is not Chinese food, the rice and peas aren’t supposed to be dry. The cabbage Medley is also awesome. The reason I am giving this place three stars is because they don’t stick to their hours. sometimes closing before 6 on Friday and Saturday, when the Web and store door obviously says they close at 9pm. That’s very unprofessional to me. The drinks and desserts are also rediculasly over priced.

I went for the oxtail as referred by my friend. The oxtails were delicious. He put extra gravy on the rice which was tasty. Only gave me two plantains though. If you’re going to get a nice lunch and leave, perfect place.

If your not from the West Indies, Or you’ve never experienced foods of other cultures this place might be your haven. For the other well rounded people this place serves pure garbage. I ordered 2 dishes both curry. A roti, and curry chicken with rice and beans. The roti skin was almost crunchy. They didn’t cook it completely or they gave me an extremely old product. The rice was old… a few days old it seemed. Although the curry smelled great my taste buds were far from impressed with the nonsense this restaurant/grocery store offered. The grocery area literally had about 9 items on the shelf and even with the store having only 3 customers it took 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge I was a patron. Just go to Aldi’s and purchase a burrito or something.

Here is what your dealing with, for $ 6.49 you get jerk chicken, rice/beans with oxtail gravy, and cooked cabbage. It is handed to you in a styrofoam box. You pick a drink from out of the cooler. There are about 5 – 7 tables inside. In my opinion, this is a perfect little simple/divey place to get lunch. It would also be great for takeout. The flavor of the jerk is not to hot and yes it is salty as the other reviewers noted. I enjoyed it. It was what I was looking for. Is it the best Jamaican food I have ever had? No, but we are in Lawrenceville for goodness sake. It does the trick, if you want something different. I liked it. I’d go back, no problem. It’s legit.

Not the original jerk flavor. too salty… more salt than flavor!

Just not enough spice. Rice overcooked, or too old… If I can eat the jerk without any need for a drink, then something is wrong.

OMG, I love Jamaican food and this place is so good! The beef patties are great. I am not a fan of chicken patties so I have no idea if they are any good. I’ve had the oxtail and the jerk chicken there. The oxtail was so tender and so perfectly spiced! It fell apart in my mouth! both plates comes with rice, cabbage(yummy!) and some plantains. I don’t really care for plantains but these were much better than most I’ve had before. The jerk chicken is not as spice covered as other places, but it still has a zing to it! The cashier is always so friendly!

I was hungry and couldn’t decide where to have lunch, drove pass this joint on the way home and decided to stop in for a visit. From the outside, it looks like a happening place, but when I walked in, it looks like it was about to be shut down… Anyways, they have a lunch special for $ 4.99 that comes with a drink. I couldn’t decide what to get so I went for the safest one. jerk chicken. I wasn’t sure about the oxtail or curry goat stuff… The lunch special came with the meat and red beans and rice. The jerk chicken look a little on the anorexic side, but the flavoring was pretty good. The red beans and rice was a bit too mushy and the drink wasn’t what i’m used to. It’s like an orange soda but the taste is a little different. I can’t really describe it. I wouldn’t say that I come back for seconds, but it was good to check it out.
