Good place. Good hamburgers. Nice people. It echoes. So if you have special needs kids be aware of the noise. Otherwise, you should try it. Good food.

Nicest mother-daughter team ever! Visiting here is like visiting a beloved friend. I sat down to a bowl of complimentary pretzels and an iced tea then ordered my dog(w/onions and mustard) with baked cauliflower. The dog was super tasty and artfully presented with fresh orange slices. The cauliflower was a nice side, something different and very tasty! I took a Chunky Monkey to go, a delicious handmade chocolate-banana milkshake, yum. Not sure the last time I’ve had a milkshake with hand scooped ice cream and a real banana! The décor is super cute and kitschy, lots of fun stuff to look at. Service is super friendly and you feel immediately at home the moment you step inside. It’s easy to pass by but well worth the stop.

When I was a child, my parents found a toy hot dog truck in a small, off the beaten path toy warehouse and brought it home. It featured flashing lights and a hot dog vendor who called out«Hot Dogs, Hot Dogs!» as it jittered across the floor. It was the ultimate in kitsch, and we loved it dearly. I haven’t seen the toy in years, but if you pulled it out of a box right now it would be as familiar to me as it was back then. I’d be transported to a time and place where family and fun meant everything, and I didn’t need much to keep me really happy. The Dawg House falls into the same category as that long ago toy. Family and fun mean everything in this small mother/daughter owned business, and the small menu is really all one needs in order to be happy. The menu consists of gourmet hot dogs topped with a variety of flavors, a burger, milkshakes and smoothies, and whatever baked goods mom felt like making today. Every Friday a special is posted which can be anything from fried rice to pancakes. They try to post Friday’s special a day or so ahead of time, but a Friday morning phone call is never a bad idea. As for fun, both mother and daughter love karaōke and movies, so every time you go in you will get the chance to stay and watch a movie with them or to pick a few songs and strut your stuff while you wait for your food to be freshly prepared. They have a few board games as well, and are always happy to sit and chat as time allows. Most of their menu is under $ 5 per item. While this sounds like a lot for a hot dog, you have to keep in mind that these are not simple hot dogs. The links are all beef, the buns have actual flavor and hold together as you eat, and the topping choices are well picked and produced. The restaurant itself is spacious and welcoming. Posters and artwork line the walls, and a handful of four seater tables are easy to arrange for a larger group or to have a better view of the TV. The music is only off when a movie is playing, and the family will do what they can to make you happy. This isn’t a fancy restaurant, but they’ve done their best with what they have, and are always adding to their collection of fun things to do and kid’s artwork to admire. The only true problem with the Dawg House is location. It is on Ft Sill Blvd, just south of Smith, across the street from the cemetery. They don’t have much foot traffic and they are difficult to spot from the road. Look for the chef painted on the wall. They have parking directly in front of the restaurant and you will forget your location once you step through the door. Outside you will be walking through a tired neighborhood. Inside you will be in mom’s kitchen, eating tasty treats and having fun.

This place is abso-freakin-lutely amazing! You get karaōke, hotdogs, specials(yes, the specials are homecooked meals!), and deserts galore! It gives you that old 50’s vibe when you walk in too! The staff are so down to earth an friendly! If you’re looking for something different, as well as something to do in Lawton that’s all in one place, you got to come here! It’s close to base to, which is a plus!
